Strictly legend says 'why not?' as he makes bold statement about show's future
Strictly legend says 'why not?' as he makes bold statement about show's future The flagship Saturday night show has been airing on the BBC for 21 years this year Edwina Currie and Vincent Simone (Image: PA) Former Strictly Come Dancing favourite, Vincent Simone says he expects Strictly Come Dancing to air for at least another decade. The 46-year-old dancer featured on the BBC's Saturday night show - which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year - between 2006 and 2012 and believes that the programme's immense popularity will see it remain on screens for a long time to come. Vincent exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I think it will carry on for at least another 10 years. I mean, I don't see why not. "We meet all the Strictly fans who come and see our own shows and they just love it too much. It's the best excuse to get together, families or friends, a bunch of ladies, and they just gossip about the show, they just get entertained from amazing dancing or, you know, fit celebrities. "There is everything in that show and every year you have the variety because you get 16 new celebrities joining the show so it's going to be fresh. You can't say, 'Oh it's always the same thing', yes, they might do the same dances but every person is so individual, especially when they have character and personality. "It's an amazing show. I can't see it ever ending but I will say at least another 10 years just by meeting the fans at the stage door afterwards, they're just obsessed with the show. They will always watch it, no matter what." Vincent felt the time was right to leave Strictly when he announced his departure in 2013 but revealed that he would be open to a return to the programme, particularly after watching his friend Ian Waite thrive on Dancing with the Stars - the Australian version of the show. Vincent left the show more than a decade ago (Image: UK Press via Getty Images) The Italian star said: "When I left, I thought that was the right time. I was super busy and it go the point where it was seven years in a row, it got to the point where I just needed a change. I did get my change with West End shows and so many other things. "I think now with age, like Ian is taking part in the Australian version. He loves it, he's doing really well. When you watch him dancing with these celebrities on the Australian version you think, 'Oh my gosh'. For me, because he's my friend, but for me he still has it. He could easily be on Strictly the UK version and I like to think that I could do the same because I could bring my personality and my dancing. "So I wouldn't mind that as a challenge at some point.' Vincent will appear with ex-Strictly pros Ian Waite, James Jordan, Brendan Cole and Pasha Kovalev in The Return of the Legends tour this autumn and revealed that the shows will be bigger and better than last year's sell-out tour. He said: "We've got a semi-new show coming up and we're all looking forward to it because obviously it's been nearly a year. It will be nice to be back all together and come out bigger than last year. "We're also gonna have our solos which for me personally are the most special numbers in the show, when each individual couple gets the stage on their own and for me that's just magic. Everybody has the chance to showcase their talent and their own style of dance. I'll be doing my Argentine Tangos, Ian will be doing his beautiful ballroom dances and Pasha, the Latin king, will be doing his Samba numbers and so on." The Return of the Legends tours nationwide from 5th September until 17th October. For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter Article continues below

Betty Grumble on why radical performance artists are a vital part of the Fringe
'Fringe recalibrates the binaries of high and low art,' writes Australian performance artist Betty Grumble. Here the self-styled 'sex clown' explains why risk-taking artists at the Fringe are necessary for challenging the status-quo. Enemies of Grooviness Eat Shit is a good name for a show and an arrangement of words that help me breathe space into the devastation in this time. Who would claim to be an enemy of grooviness? Who are they? Where do they live? As I bring this work to Edinburgh after years away from the festival I do it to honour howls of righteous revenge that might transform into pure love. And whilst I do this, I too Eat Shit. Betty Grumble | Joseph Mayers Photography I have travelled to Edinburgh Fringe four times. My first time and second time, I was initiated into a marathon of late night spots, leaping from gig to gig, making kin, making mistakes, giddy with the whirl. My third and fourth times were with my solo works Sex Clown Saves The World and Love & Anger. I found family there, recognition, deep lessons in craft and I even lost a tooth. I've not replaced it, and when my tongue plays in the hole where the tooth should be I remember Edinburgh, how it had its way with me and how I want it bad again. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad I have witnessed artists Christeene, Leah Shelton, Harry Clayton Wright, Annie Sprinkle, Polytoxic, Lucy Mccormick and Adrienne Truscott take the Fringe in their arms and worship its mantle as a fertile site to remind mainstream venues that Fringe dwellers, border riders and the underground are vital forces for our world, necessary medicine, and to be respected thus. Fringe recalibrates the binaries of high and low art, challenges the status quo and strengthens the muscles of risk-taking, genre-defying practice. We need this now more than ever. This is what I intend to do this year at the festival. I wanna be in this and bathe in this, fuel up in the congregation and bring some of that magic home with me. Fringe works can often be invitations into how we can be with our bodies in all of our messy, glorious and radical dreaming. In Enemies I do a sex clown grief death dance with pleasure and justice. I compost myself live on stage and share the creative methodologies that have given me access to my spirituality across the past decade. In my pursuit for healing from the patriarchy, I have found refuge in performance. Stories told from the guts, portals into power, methods forged anew in the eyes and arms of community. Whole worlds built and dissolved each night – remembering together. What is it to be in this together in our bodies? To quote one of the greatest loves of my life, the late great butch queen, high priestess of poetry and Palestinian-Lebanese artist Candy Royalle: 'This gathering, every gathering is sacred.'' As a strategy for this gathering, the work presents the dead as an access point to honouring the full heaving mess of grief work. Here, with the legacy of those that have come before us, we hope to meet the strength inherent in our bodies, the knowledge we carry from kin, and the possibility of retrieving our sacred creative tools back from despair. And what a legacy it is to be a part of. The radical artists from across the world that converge on this place every year with an invitation to audiences to open their minds, to crack open their hearts, and be together to explore the mess of the world with us. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad There are vanishingly few places on Earth that so exuberantly invite audiences to arrive with an appetite for the unexpected and a readiness to be transformed. Here, they come not for the safe or familiar, but for the bold, the provocative, the unapologetically daring. And it is precisely this atmosphere that gives many shows an additional spark; that moment when something once intimate or embryonic catches fire, fuelled by the energy of audiences who are ready for it. Fringe is at its absolute best when folks clear away expectations and accept that invitation to get outside of their bubbles and ingrained ideas and algorithms and sit joyfully in discomfort and, hopefully, leave changed. Maybe a little wiser, maybe a little softer, maybe with a little erotic skip in your step. The show we have created is a declaration in adoration for storytelling itself and the transformative power of our bodies. We represent a potent culture belonging to Sydney's underground creative force that lives on Gadigal Country and we are so excited to meet you with all our laughing, sighing, dancing weapons of splendour. Betty Grumble: Enemies of Grooviness Eat Shit, Assembly Roxy, until 24 August

Chris Hughes told me how he used old-fashioned trick to make JoJo his girlfriend & revealed exact moment he fell in love
Kelly Allen was the first journalist to interview Chris about how he'd fallen for JoJo... and revealed their relationship secrets LOVED UP Chris Hughes told me how he used old-fashioned trick to make JoJo his girlfriend & revealed exact moment he fell in love ANYONE who has watched an episode of Love Island will know that dating in the modern world is complicated. From using dating apps to 'seeing each other' then going exclusive, to finally being boyfriend and girlfriend, it's a wonder how anyone gets into a relationship. 7 Chris Hughes revealed the surprising old-fashioned trick he used to take his friendship with JoJo Siwa to the next level Credit: Instagram/Chris Hughes 7 The Sun's Kelly with the celeb couple But we can reveal that Chris Hughes used a surprising old-fashioned trick to turn his friendship with JoJo Siwa into something more serious. I was the first journalist to interview Chris about how he'd fallen for JoJo - and he revealed he took inspiration from William Shakespeare to woo her. The 32-year-old put pen to paper and declared his love in writing. He told me: 'I was confused about how I felt. Then I wasn't confused anymore. I knew I needed to write it down to explain to her how I was feeling.' Perhaps it's because the horse racing commentator previously appeared on the ITV2 dating show Love Island in 2017, finishing third with then-girlfriend Olivia Attwood, that he'd had enough of the confusing modern way of dating - leading him to use more traditional methods to get the girl. The pair were thrown together while both appearing on Celebrity Big Brother in April. Having never met before, Chris, who lives in Ascot, formed an immediate bond with the 22-year-old Californian-based dancer. They both insisted it was purely platonic, especially since bisexual JoJo was in a relationship with Kath Ebbs, who identifies as non-binary. After she dumped the 27-year-old Australian actor at the Celebrity Big Brother finale party, speculation intensified about how they felt about each other. Chris and JoJo initially remained coy but after transatlantic trips to see each other, the pair took it up a level. Chris Hughes reveals baby plans with JoJo Siwa as 'besotted' hunk gushes over new love After much speculation about what was REALLY going on with them, they hard launched as a couple after Chris flew out to Mexico City, then onto Orlando to surprise her for her birthday. Chris explained: 'I went to Florida thinking 'I really like this person', but I was slightly confused about the feelings. I had already written her birthday card before I flew over. I took all these presents over for her. They were fun and sentimental gifts rather than anything of monetary value. 'But the night before her birthday, I realised my feelings had changed. I told her: 'I've got to go do something. I'll be back in half an hour.' 'I went to the hotel reception and borrowed a pen and came back up to the room. 'I took the card and opened it because I had to redo it. I sat in the toilet on my own and I rewrote the card. I knew my feelings had changed, and there was so much more that I needed to say than what I originally put in the birthday card. I wasn't confused anymore, and I knew what my heart was saying, and I wanted to tell her.' 7 Chris calls JoJo by her full name Joelle Credit: Instagram 7 The couple have been sickeningly loved-up since appearing on CBB together Credit: Instagram 7 The couple faced much speculation from fans while in the house together Credit: ITV Since then, the couple, who are having a transatlantic relationship, have been sickeningly loved up and constantly jetting back and forth to spend time with each other. MADLY IN LOVE Speaking about falling in love with JoJo, who he calls by her full name Joelle, he said: 'Some of the best relationships start as friendships. I look back at the CBB clips and could see how we gravitated towards each other. "We just wanted to be there for each other in the house. I adored the ground she walked on and the way she handled herself. How can you not love her? But it was as a friend. 'Then, towards the end of the show, I was confused about my feelings for her. And you don't know what it's going to be like on the outside. I was saying to myself: 'Come on, Chris, pull yourself together.' 'We were just friends at that stage, but we were talking all the time. I was missing her, and I felt like I needed to see her, so I flew to Mexico City to surprise her. "I was so nervous, even though I'd lived with her for three weeks. Then we ended up going to Orlando and I met her family – it was the best three days of my life. "From the minute I woke up until I went to bed, I was just so happy. It was at that moment something fully ignited inside me. "I went: 'God, I really like this person', and I knew she reciprocated it.' 7 JoJo dumped Kath Ebbs, who identifies as non-binary, at the CBB finale party Credit: Getty 7 Chris appeared on Love Island in 2017, finishing third with then girlfriend Olivia Attwood Credit: Rex Features And despite now being officially boyfriend and girlfriend and sharing constant loved-up snaps together on Instagram, the adorable old school way of communicating continues. He added: 'I like writing her letters. I don't do it every day. But when we are apart and I miss her, I write to her. I like writing, and I like to see my handwriting. I like sitting there. It gives me something to do. So when I'm at home alone, I'll get my little pad out.'
