Turkeys Naval Ship, Irans Foreign Minister Travel To Pakistan Amid India Tension
Indo-Pak Tension: With India stepping up its ante against Pakistan, Islamabad is getting support from Turkey and China. While earlier Turkey's C-130 military transport planes halted in Pakistan, China also sent missiles to the Islamic Republic. Now, Turkey's naval ship TCG BUYUKADA has reached Pakistan. Notably, Pakistan has termed it as a 'Goodwill Visit', hinting that the visit was not planned and came amid tensions with India.
Turkey Navy Ship Reaches Pakistan
"Turkish Navy Ship TCG BÜYÜKADA arrived at Khi Port on a goodwill visit. Ship was welcomed by officials of Turkish & Pak Navies. Crew of TCG BÜYÜKADA will engage in professional interactions with PN personnel. Visit aims to enhance understanding & strengthen coop between 2 navies," said the Pakistani Navy.
It further added, "Goodwill visit of TCG BÜYÜKADA stands as a testament to the ever-strengthening maritime collaboration between Pakistan & Türkiye. It reflects deep-rooted mutual trust & strategic partnership between two brotherly nations, anchored in centuries-old historical & cultural ties."
Notably, the Pakistani Navy is a no match for the Indian Navy as India has two aircraft carriers while Pakistan has none. This gives India a massive edge against Pakistan.
Iran's Foreign Minister's Visit
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to visit Pakistan on Monday amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack. It is believed that Araghchi may also visit India later this week, though he is expected to return to Tehran first after his Pakistan trip.
Following the attack, Iran had initially offered to mediate between India and Pakistan to help de-escalate the situation, but India promptly declined, stating that it was capable of handling the matter on its own.
According to Pakistani media reports, Araghchi will be accompanied by a high-level delegation and is expected to hold a key meeting with Pakistani Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. As reported by The Express Tribune, the discussions will focus on bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran, as well as the current regional situation, particularly in the context of the recent India-Pakistan tensions.

Tensions have flared up between India and Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed by Pak-backed terrorists. Since then, both countries have not only downgraded their diplomatic relations but have also halted trade and all communications.

Pakistan Economic Crisis: Pakistan is often called the begging bowl of the world, especially among the Islamic nations. Now, a fresh report has revealed a staggering surge in Pakistan's debt. While Pakistan has been facing burgeoning inflation, the country's national debt is soaring to a record high. A new Economic Survey, released this Monday, reveals that Pakistan's debt has soared to an unprecedented high, painting a deeply concerning picture for its economic future. According to the CNN-NEWS18 report, Pakistan's total public debt hit a staggering 76,007 billion Pakistani Rupees (PKR)—that's 76 trillion —by the end of March 2025. This marks the highest debt level in the country's history. To put that into perspective, it translates to approximately INR 23.1 trillion or US $269.344 billion. The rapid escalation of this debt is particularly alarming. Just four years ago, in 2020-21, Pakistan's public debt stood at 39,860 billion PKR, meaning it has nearly doubled in that short span. Looking back a decade, the figure was just 17,380 billion PKR, indicating that the nation's public debt has ballooned by almost five times over the past ten years. This colossal sum of 76,007 billion PKR is made up of 51,518 billion PKR in domestic debt and 24,489 billion PKR in external debt. The Economic Survey itself warns of the dangers, stating that "excessive or poorly managed debt can pose serious vulnerabilities, such as rising interest burdens and can undermine long-term fiscal sustainability and economic security if left unaddressed." Amidst this backdrop, Pakistan recently received a US $1.03 billion aid package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under its Extended Fund Facility, an attempt to provide some relief to its strained economy. Notably, Pakistan is planning to increase its defence spending in wake of the Operation Sindoor where it faced a humiliating defeat against India. Delta fisherfolk join global call to protect ocean rights
Fisherfolk across 28 coastal villages in Mayiladuthurai, Karaikal, and Nagapattinam districts staged creative protests on Monday, drawing kolams in front of their homes and holding placards in solidarity with the second Conference of the Ocean Peoples (C-OP2), convened by the World Forum of Fisher Peoples (WFFP) which emphasised customary marine rights. The global online conference, themed 'Defying Colonial Capitalism: Union for the Future of Earth and Oceans', brings together over 10 million fisherfolk from 50 countries. In Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the coordinated demonstrations spanned several villages. In Mayiladuthurai, fisher communities from Chandirapadi, Kuttiyandiyur, Vellakkoil, Perumalpettai, Pudupettai, Chinnangudi, Chinnamedu, Vanagiri, Poombuhar, Palaiyar, Kottaimedu, Thirumullaivasal, Chinnakottaimedu, and Thoduvai participated. In Nagapattinam, solidarity events took place in Nagore, Samanthanpettai, Nambiyarnagar, New Nambiyarnagar, and New Kallar. Meanwhile in Karaikal, the protests were held in Mandapathur, Kalikuppam, Akkampettai, Kottucherrymedu, Kasakudymedu, Kilinjalmedu, Karaikalmedu, Karukkalacherry, and T.R. Pattinam. The WFFP reaffirmed fishers' customary marine rights, rejecting corporate-driven Blue Economy initiatives, calling for a halt to ocean privatisation, and demanding restitution of marine territories to coastal communities.
