Retired CRPF Official Kills Daughter For Marrying Class 12 Pass-Out: Cops

The investigation into the murder of a 24-year-old woman by her father, a retired CRPF official, in Jalgaon revealed that he harboured a grudge against his MBBS daughter for marrying a class 12 pass-out, police said on Tuesday.
Kiran Mangle (50) shot dead his daughter Tripti Wagh with his licensed revolver and seriously injured her husband Avinash Wagh on Saturday night when they were attending the 'haldi' ceremony of Avinash's sister in Chopda tehsil in the north Maharashtra district.
Police have arrested Mangle's son Nikhil Mangle who had accompanied his father to the crime spot, an official said.
After the firing incident, people in the vicinity thrashed Kiran Mangle. He was admitted to a private hospital in Jalgaon and currently put on ventilator support, police said.
Avinash is undergoing treatment for bullet injuries at Sassoon General Hospital in Pune.
Based on a complaint lodged by Avinash's mother, police booked the Mangle father-son duo on the charge of murder and other sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Arms Act, the official added.

Bengal: SIT files chargesheet against 13 in Murshidabad father-son murder case
Kolkata: The West Bengal Police's special investigation team (SIT) has reportedly named over 50 witnesses in its chargesheet against 13 people in connection with the April 12 murder of a 72-year-old man and his 40-year-old son at Jafrabad village in Murshidabad, police officers aware of the development said on Saturday. 'We have framed charges against 13 persons under various sections of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita), including 103(2) (murder committed by more than five persons particularly on grounds of caste and religion), 191(2) (rioting), and 310(2) (dacoity), along with some sections of the Arms Act,' a senior officer said, adding the police have over 50 witnesses, CCTV footages and telephone call details. Another senior police officer said that 11 of the 13 people named in the over 980-page chargesheet have already been arrested. Communal clashes had erupted following protests against the Waqf (Amendment) Act in some areas of Murshidabad district on April 11 and 12, leaving three persons dead. Houses and shops were looted and set on fire. Around 170 villagers had left their houses, and people took refuge in a relief camp in Malda across the Bhagirathi River. Three persons were killed, including 72-year-old Haragobindo Das and his son Chandan Das, who were hacked to death by a mob in Jafrabad. The Calcutta High Court ordered the deployment of central forces. More than 300 people were arrested in connection with over 60 first information reports (FIRs) at various police stations in Murshidabad. Union home minister Amit Shah, during his recent visit to the state, called the Murshidabad riots 'state-sponsored.' Earlier, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, during her visit to the district in May, had alleged that the clashes were egged on by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and that situations wouldn't have flared up on the second day had the border security force (BSF) not opened fire.

Tinder account under scanner: Punjab police probe dating app profile suspected to be linked to Amritpal Singh
Punjab Police have reached out to dating app Tinder for information on an account suspected to be connected to Amritpal Singh, the Khadoor Sahib MP, currently booked for the murder of Sikh activist Gurpreet Singh Hari Nau. The police have asked Tinder to provide user data including the account holder's name, date of birth, phone number, IP logs (since January 1, 2019), location data, email addresses, chat records, contacts, photographs, and media files associated with the account. According to the Faridkot police, Gurpreet Singh—a member of Amritpal's 'Waris Punjab De' outfit and vocal critic of Amritpal Singh—was shot dead on October 9, 2024, while returning home from a village Gurdwara, reported PTI. The case is being probed under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav had earlier alleged that the murder was carried out at Amritpal's behest. Authorities also claim gangster-turned-terrorist Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh Dalla masterminded the killing, as per PTI. Two shooters have already been arrested in connection with the crime. In a letter dated May 26, accessed by PTI, Punjab Police formally requested Tinder's assistance, stating: 'On October 9, 2024, Gurpreet Singh, an online activist who managed the Facebook page 'Hari Nau Talks' and was outspoken against Amritpal Singh, was murdered by two motorcycle-borne assailants. During the investigation, a Tinder profile under the name 'Amrit Sandhu' was discovered and is suspected to be linked to the primary accused, Amritpal Singh.' Amritpal Singh, currently lodged in Assam's Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act (NSA), rose to prominence for reviving pro-Khalistan rhetoric and modelling himself after slain militant leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale. 17 year old Aastha killed by her own mother for talking to her boyfriend
The body of a 17 year old girl named Aastha was found near a canal in the Partapur region of Meerut on Friday. She was murdered by none other than her own mother and her family members and was beheaded using a bolt cutter, said the police. Police have arrested Rakesh Devi (mother), 40, Monu, 26, Kamal Singh, 56, Samar Singh, 54, and a 14-year-old minor in connection to this crime. Another accused, identified as Gaurav, of Hapur, is absconding. Aastha's mother Rakesh Devi caught her talking to her boyfriend on Wednesday in Darula, Devi along with her family members first strangled her to death and decapitated her using a bolt cutter, said Meerut SSP Vipin Tada, as quoted by TOI . SSP said, in order to prevent anyone from identifying her body, the head was thrown in the Ganga canal which is yet to be recovered. The rest of the body was wrapped in a cloth and thrown in the Bahadurpur canal. The crime came to light on Thursday when a local farmer spotted the body in the canal. The clothes helped police identify the victim and led the cops to her lover. "A police team retrieved the body. An FIR under sections 103(1) (murder) and 238 (destruction of evidence) of BNS was filed at Partapur police station. A forensic team also collected samples and evidence from the spot," said SSP Tada. Live Events The family initially tried to mislead the police by claiming that Aastha had left home for school on Wednesday morning but did not return till evening. After failing to locate her, they filed a missing complaint. Meerut SSP Vipin Tada told TOI, "Aastha came into contact with a man on social media around eight months ago and developed a relationship, which enraged her family. Her father is a CRPF personnel posted in Chhattisgarh and was clueless about the crime."
