Retired CRPF Official Kills Daughter For Marrying Class 12 Pass-Out: Cops
The investigation into the murder of a 24-year-old woman by her father, a retired CRPF official, in Jalgaon revealed that he harboured a grudge against his MBBS daughter for marrying a class 12 pass-out, police said on Tuesday.
Kiran Mangle (50) shot dead his daughter Tripti Wagh with his licensed revolver and seriously injured her husband Avinash Wagh on Saturday night when they were attending the 'haldi' ceremony of Avinash's sister in Chopda tehsil in the north Maharashtra district.
Police have arrested Mangle's son Nikhil Mangle who had accompanied his father to the crime spot, an official said.
After the firing incident, people in the vicinity thrashed Kiran Mangle. He was admitted to a private hospital in Jalgaon and currently put on ventilator support, police said.
Avinash is undergoing treatment for bullet injuries at Sassoon General Hospital in Pune.
Based on a complaint lodged by Avinash's mother, police booked the Mangle father-son duo on the charge of murder and other sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Arms Act, the official added.

Minors from Manipur held for ‘disrespecting' national flag
Guwahati: Three minors, originally hailing from Manipur, were arrested by Guwahati police belonging to Panikhaiti outpost on Saturday after a video went viral on social media showing them allegedly kicking and disrespecting the national flag. The incident, which occurred late on Friday night, took place at Khankar Gaon on the outskirts of the city. According to police sources, the three youths were reportedly under the influence of alcohol and were creating a public nuisance. Due to their status as juveniles, the arrested individuals will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) on Monday. Medhi added that the CWC will be responsible for deciding the next course of action to be taken against them, as the matter is under investigation. Two more suspects held in Jalaun murder case
Kanpur: Police on Saturday arrested two more suspects in the school staff member Jitendra Ahirwar murder case in Jalaun district. Former Congress MLA Ram Prasad and his grandson Raja are still at large. The names of the arrested suspects were not in the report, but they emerged during the investigation. The police had already sent former BNS MLA Ajay Singh, alias Pankaj, and his son Aman to jail. On August 9, Jitendra Ahirwar, 45, a resident of Ghamuri village in the Kotwali area, was found dead in a bloodied state, abandoned at a CHC by individuals in a car. Upon receiving the news, Jitendra's family accused the former MLAs of murder and caused a commotion at the hospital. Jitendra's son Nitin filed a report against former Congress MLA Ram Prasad, his son, former BNS MLA Ajay Singh Pankaj, and both grandsons Aman alias Micky, Raja, and Amit, along with an unknown person. On August 14, the police arrested Ajay Singh and his younger son Aman. Other suspects remain at large. Toddler abducted from Durg railway stn rescued by GRP in TN, accused arrested
Raipur: The Government Railway Police (GRP), Durg, successfully rescued an 18-month-old boy who was abducted from Durg railway station and traced him to Thanjavur district in Tamil Nadu. The accused, identified as Arumugam (45), a resident of Thiruneelakudi, Thanjavur, was arrested. The GRP later handed over the child to his mother. The incident came to light on July 27, 2025, when Surya Manikpuri and his wife, Sonu Manikpuri, residents of Durg, woke up at Durg railway station to find their 18-month-old son missing. The family, which was travelling with two children, fell asleep near the ticket booking counter around 10 pm on July 26. Their three-year-old child was with them. After an extensive search, the distraught family reported the matter to police. Following Supreme Court guidelines in cases involving minors, the GRP registered a case under Sections 137(2) and 140(3) of BNS, said DSP (GRP) S N Akhtar.
