Bengal to get more rain; South Bengal districts on Yellow alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a Yellow alert (Be Aware) for most South Bengal districts on Sunday afternoon.
The weather bureau predicted light to moderate rainfall with possible thunderstorms in South Bengal districts like Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Jhargram, Bankura, Purulia, East and West Bardhaman, Birbhum, Murshidabad, Nadia, and Kolkata.
State capital Kolkata experienced overcast conditions on Sunday, but there was only 0.4 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. The city recorded a maximum temperature of 30.4 degree Celsius and a minimum of 26.2 degree Celsius on Sunday. Humidity levels were on the higher side, ranging from 83 per cent to 100 per cent.
Meanwhile, the IMD has put North Bengal districts like Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar under an Orange alert (Be Prepared), expecting heavy to very heavy rainfall (7-20 cm) on Sunday.
Darjeeling, Cooch Behar, and Kalimpong are under a Yellow alert and are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall. Warnings have been issued for possible lightning and local flooding in low-lying areas across the region.
In its bulletin, the IMD also stated that a 'trough runs from cyclonic circulation associated with the well-marked low-pressure area over northwest Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood to northeast Bangladesh across northeast Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and north Gangetic West Bengal between 0.9 to 5.8 km above mean sea level.'
Under the influence of this strong monsoon flow, widespread light to moderate rainfall is very likely to continue over West Bengal, with heavy rainfall activity expected at one or two places in some districts over the next few days.

On the other hand thunderstorm accomapnied with lightning and gutsy wind are very likely at isolated places over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, Jammu Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, Jharkhand, Orissa and Telangana. Alternatively, Strong surface winds are very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, Lakshwadeep, Odisha and Tamil Nadu Poducherry and Karaikal. However, Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50kmph gusting to 60kmph likely to prevail over many parts of East central Arabian sea & Adjoining, some parts of westcentral Arabian sea, many parts of southeast Arabian sea and adjoining, some parts of southweat Arabian sea, many parts of northeast Arabian sea & Adjoining parts of Northweat Arabian sea, along and off north Gujarat, Kerala, North Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal, Bangladesh Coasts, over Lakshadweep and off Srilanka Coast and Andaman Sea. Weather Update For Delhi According to IMD, Delhi is likely to experience Generic cloudy skies, light to moderate rains accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning. Today, temperature will vary between 23-31 Degree Celcius. Weather Insights For Delhi Residents Delhi faced continuous showers from few days, causing waterlogging in areas like ITO, Minto Bridge, and parts of Gurugram. The city continues to remain on rain watch. Delhi residents should be ready for wet roads, waterlogging, and traffic jams. Keep an umbrella or raincoat with you, and avoid going out during heavy rain.

According to the the India Meteorological Department (IMD) the maximum temperature is expected to rise to around 37.5 degrees Celsius. Delhiites can expect a cloudy sky with moderate rain during the day, according to the IMD. At 8:30 am, humidity levels were recorded at 76 per cent. Meanwhile, Delhi residents started their day with 'satisfactory" air quality as the Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 65 on Monday. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good", 51 and 100 'satisfactory", 101 and 200 'moderate", 201 and 300 'poor", 301 and 400 'very poor", and 401 and 500 'severe". Maximum temperatures are expected to hover between 33 and 35 degrees Celsius, with the minimum around 28 degrees Celsius. Neighbouring NCR cities, including Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Gurugram, are also likely to experience similar weather conditions. Mild, rainy weather to persist in Delhi till July-end Delhi is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall and occasional thunderstorms through the end of July, according to the IMD. No major weather warnings have been issued for the capital. Delhi's air quality offers some relief Delhi's air quality remained in the 'satisfactory' category. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 64 at 8 am on July 28, improving from a 24-hour average of 85 the previous day. Neighbouring cities also reported relatively better air, with AQIs of 97 in Noida, 126 in Greater Noida, and 104 in Ghaziabad. As per CPCB guidelines, AQI levels from 0–50 are considered 'good', 51–100 'satisfactory', 101–200 'moderate', 201–300 'poor', 301–400 'very poor', and 401–500 'severe'. Heavy rain alert in other states Meanwhile, IMD has issued alerts for heavy to very heavy rainfall on Monday in several parts of the country. Affected states include east Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, coastal Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and western Uttar Pradesh. Isolated heavy showers are also likely in areas such as Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala and Mahe, Konkan and Goa, Saurashtra and Kutch, West Bengal, Sikkim, and west Rajasthan.
