Chairing a review meeting at the divisional commissioner's office, Bidari emphasised the need for urgent action and strict timelines to ensure there are no delays in ongoing expressway and road development projects.
The meeting focused on reviewing the current status of land acquisition and joint measurement activities for several high-priority projects, including the Nagpur-Gondia Expressway, Bhandara-Gadchiroli Road, Nagpur-Chandrapur corridor, and Pavnar (Wardha district) to Patra Devi (Goa) (Shaktipeeth) Expressway.
Bidari gave instructions for immediate completion of land measurement and submission of joint measurement reports to the respective land acquisition officers. She emphasised that all departments involved must operate in close coordination to remove bottlenecks and meet deadlines.
She directed deputy superintendents of land records to carry out measurements strictly in line with proposals submitted by MSRDC and to hand over joint measurement reports without delay.
Bidari also instructed district superintendents of land records, district collectors, and joint director of land records to monitor and review the progress regularly.
A key directive from the commissioner included establishing a fixed schedule for all involved officials and departments to carry out and complete land measurement and reporting within a defined time-frame. She stressed that these deadlines must be followed without exception and warned of accountability in case of negligence or delay.

Farmers to hoist tricolour in fields on Independence Day to protest Shaktipeeth Expressway

Farmers from 12 districts in Maharashtra will hoist the national flag in their fields on Independence Day as part of a unique protest against the proposed Shaktipeeth Expressway, which they claim will destroy fertile agricultural land. The campaign for the August 15 protest will carry the slogan 'The tricolour flutters in our field; Shaktipeeth has no place in our farmland,' sending a strong message to the State Government, Congress MLC Satej Patil said. The decision was taken at an online meeting of the Shaktipeeth Expressway Virodhi Sangharsh Samiti on Saturday (August 9, 2025), attended by farmers and public representatives from the affected districts, he said. Also read: Shaktipeeth Expressway sparks Statewide protests, political outcry in Maharashtra The Maharashtra cabinet in June this year approved the allocation of ₹20,787 crore for the ambitious 'Maharashtra Shaktipeeth Expressway,' which will pass through 12 districts, linking eastern Maharashtra with southern Konkan. The 802-km expressway is expected to cut the travel time between Nagpur and Goa from current 18 hours to eight hours, as per officials. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will implement the project, and HUDCO has sanctioned a loan of ₹12,000 crore for the acquisition of nearly 7,500 hectares of land, the officials earlier said. The expressway aims to link all 'Shaktipeeths' in the state and develop rural areas through tourism and connectivity, they added. The high-speed corridor will pass through the districts of Wardha, Yavatmal, Hingoli, Nanded, Parbhani, Beed, Latur, Dharashiv, Solapur, Sangli, Kolhapur and Sindhudurg. Mr. Patil said the protest move symbolises farmers' demand for 'freedom' from the project. He alleged the expressway's cost had risen from ₹86,000 crore to ₹1.06 lakh crore and urged the government to instead focus on road construction in underdeveloped areas and loan waivers for farmers. Farmer leader and former MP Raju Shetti said the protest was aimed at 'freeing the land' at a time when cultivable area in the country is shrinking. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vinayak Raut claimed the expressway would benefit only contractors and politicians, while MLA Kailas Patil took a swipe at the chief minister, saying the project may be a 'dream' or 'cream' for him. The meeting also resolved to pass anti-expressway resolutions in gram sabhas on August 15 and to launch a signature campaign in villages, former MLA Ruturaj Patil said. He said the campaign would begin in 10 villages of Kolhapur South constituency in the coming days. The protest is part of a wider agitation, with farmers from the affected areas also expected to join the August 13 nationwide protest called by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha at Bindu Chowk in Kolhapur, Satej Patil said.

‘Satnavri' a beacon for rural tech revolution

Nagpur: In the heart of Nagpur district, Satnavri village is emerging as a real-time experiment in rural digitisation, evolving into India's first 'Smart Intelligent Village' under a state pilot project. With sensor-equipped farms, AI-assisted classrooms, digital health cards, and a WiFi-powered gram panchayat, the village is rapidly integrating technology into daily life. During a field visit on Friday, divisional commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari reviewed the project's progress and urged villagers to engage deeply with the sweeping changes underway. "Digital tools alone don't change villages — people do," she said, calling for regular training to ensure locals can access and utilise new services being introduced. The initiative is part of a broader 'Make in India' collaboration, with 15 private firms executing various modules — ranging from real-time crop dashboards and remote health consultations to smart learning platforms in anganwadis and schools. The village is connected via optical fibre, allowing data flow that powers everything from soil sensors and irrigation tracking to lake water quality monitoring. Health systems in Satnavri are also undergoing a digital transition. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Dhonia Knee Pain Treatments Might Surprise You Knee Pain Treatment | Search Ads Undo Villagers are being issued e-health cards, and mobile clinics now coordinate with specialists at Govt Medical College via telemedicine portals. Education, another cornerstone of the transformation, includes AI-integrated digital books, remote learning setups, and smart Anganwadi modules. At the gram panchayat office, tech firms associated with the Voice of India Communication Technology demonstrated live dashboards to officials, showcasing real-time data and digital governance tools. "This village is not just getting connected. It's getting empowered," said the project's chief operating officer Vinayak Mahamuni, noting that sustained awareness and follow-ups will be critical for adoption. With agriculture at its core, the model emphasises actionable data for farmers — tracking everything from sowing patterns to market forecasts — on a simplified interface. Officials say farmers now receive alerts on soil health, weather conditions, and optimal harvest timings via mobile. CM Devendra Fadnavis is expected to visit the village soon to interact with locals and assess the model's on-ground impact. Senior officers including special central officer Ramesh Bhatnagar, sarpanch Vaishali Chaudhary, tehsildar Kalyan Kumar Dahat, and GDO Sachin Suryavanshi accompanied Bidari during the review. Maharashtra: New 105-km Express Corridor To Slash Vadhavan-Nashik Travel Time To 1.5 Hours, Know More

Last Updated: With the new route, the total distance will be trimmed to just 104.9 km, saving 78.5 km and making freight delivery lightning fast. The Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday approved the construction of a 105-km express freight corridor connecting the upcoming Vadhavan port in Palghar to the Samruddhi Expressway at Bharvir in Nashik district, which will slash the travel time to just 1.5 hours from the current 5 hours. The high-speed corridor, aimed at facilitating rapid movement of freight from the western coast to the hinterland, will be implemented by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). The project is expected to be completed within three years, with a total estimated cost of Rs 2,528.90 crore. Of this, Rs 1,500 crore will be raised through loans from HUDCO. This decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the CMO stated in a release. The proposed direct link between Vadhavan Port and the Mumbai-Nagpur expressway will bypass the detour that vehicles currently take via the Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway. Currently, vehicles have to travel nearly 183.48 km, including an unnecessary 82-km stretch. The new corridor will reduce this distance to 104.898 km, saving 78.582 km and cutting travel time from the current 4 to 5 hours to approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. The corridor will pass through Dahanu, Vikramgad, Jawhar, and Mokhada talukas in Palghar district, and Trimbakeshwar and Igatpuri in Nashik district. The connector link is crucial to support the expected increase in cargo traffic from Vadhavan Port, which is part of the Centre's Sagarmala initiative. The port is set to become a major hub for international maritime trade, and efficient hinterland connectivity is key to its success, the CMO said in a statement. It is expected to catalyse growth for small, medium, and large industries, agriculture-related businesses, educational institutions, and IT companies. Additionally, local communities are expected to benefit from increased employment opportunities and access to new markets. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
