David Lynch's Cause of Death Revealed

Yara Sameh
Legendary Hollywood director David Lynch's cause of death has been revealed nearly a month after he died at the age of 78.
The visionary filmmaker and director behind "Mulholland Drive," "Twin Peaks" and more classics, who in 2020 was diagnosed with emphysema, passed away on January 16.
On Friday, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health published David Lynch's death certificate, which lists his immediate cause of death as cardiac arrest due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Dehydration is also listed as a significant contributor to his death.
Lynch's death was announced by his family in a Facebook post, which read: 'There's a big hole in the world now that he's no longer with us. But, as he would say, 'Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.''
In the days before his death, the Oscar-nominated auteur had reportedly been evacuated from his L.A. home due to the city's devastating wildfires.
According to Deadline, sources said that the move had led to a decline in his health.
In an interview with Sight & Sound magazine last year, Lynch revealed he had been diagnosed with emphysema due to smoking throughout his life, and said he could not 'go out' because of the risk of catching coronavirus.
'I've gotten emphysema from smoking for so long and so I'm homebound whether I like it or not. It would be very bad for me to get sick, even with a cold,' he said, admitting that he could only walk a short distance before he was 'out of oxygen.'
Lynch, who frequently collaborated with Hollywood luminaries such as Laura Dern, Kyle MacLachlan, Sheryl Lee, Naomi Watts, Jack Nance and Harry Dean Stanton, left behind an iconic legacy.
He earned critical acclaim and nominations for the Academy Award for Best Director for the biographical drama "The Elephant Man" (1980), the mystery thriller "Blue Velvet" (1986), and the psychological drama "Mulholland Drive" (2001).
Lynch is survived by his four children, Boxing Helena director Jennifer Lynch, Austin Jack Lynch, Riley Lynch, and Lula Lynch.

"Wicked: For Good" Trailer Is Finally Here

Yara Sameh It is time to venture back to the Emerald City. Universal Pictures has finally unveiled the official trailer for 'Wicked: For Good,' the second part of 2024's hit Broadway movie adaptation. 'Wicked: For Good' brings back Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande as Elphaba and Glinda, as well as Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Jeff Goldblum as the Wizard of Oz, Ethan Slater as Boq Woodsman, Marissa Bode as Nessarose Thropp and Bowen Yang as Pfannee. Jon M. Chu directed both films with screenplays by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox. Per the official logline, the second movie — 'set in the Land of Oz, before and after Dorothy Gale's arrival from Kansas' — will 'cover the events of the musical's second act, following Elphaba and Glinda's friendship being put to the test as they embrace their new respective identities as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch of the North, and how the consequences of their actions will change all of Oz forever.' Last year's 'Wicked' was a massive hit and grossed $756 million at the worldwide box office, becoming the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation ever and Universal's third biggest movie of all time. The movie received 10 Academy Award nominations, including best picture, lead actress for Erivo, supporting actress for Grande, costume design, editing, makeup and hairstyling, production design, original score, sound and visual effects. It also won for costume design, making Paul Tazewell the first Black man to win the category, plus production design. Cillian Murphy's Role in "28 Years Later" Franchise Has Been Clarified

Yara Sameh Cillian Murphy is coming back to the '28 Days Later' franchise — but fans will have to wait patiently. Director Danny Boyle revealed in interviews with Business Insider and IGN that Murphy, who starred in the original '28 Days Later' in 2002, will not star in the upcoming '28 Years Later," but will appear in the ending of its 2026 sequel, 'The Bone Temple.' 'He is in the second one,' Boyle told IGN . 'I shouldn't give away too much. I'll get killed.' Boyle and writer Alex Garland conceived '28 Years Later' as the start of a new trilogy. The franchise revival, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Ralph Fiennes, was filmed back-to-back with its follow-up, '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,' which is directed by Nia DaCosta. A trilogy-capper remains in development and could be greenlit if '28 Years Later' becomes a box office hit. Boyle hopes that incorporating Murphy, who is coming off of a best actor Oscar win for 'Oppenheimer,' could also help secure financing for the third film. 'All I can say is you have to wait for Cillian, but hopefully he will help us get the third film financed,' Boyle told Business Insider. To IGN, 'Although each story [in the trilogy] completes itself, there's a handover section to the next film as well. So it's very ambitious. We haven't got the money for the third one yet. It will depend how the first one does, I guess. But hopefully, if we do okay, they'll give us the go-ahead for the money and for the third one. Everybody's standing by for that, really. Including Cillian.' Boyle also shared with Business Insider that getting Murphy on board for the trilogy helped him get approval to film '28 Years Later' with iPhones: 'You promise them Cillian Murphy, that's quite a deflection of any technical concerns. They soon forget. We nakedly used that to get our own way. What better promise could you make?'. Boyle's original '28 Days Later' was one of the first blockbuster roles for Murphy. He led the thriller as Jim, a man who awakens in a hospital to discover the United Kingdom has collapsed amid an undead apocalypse. Fans have speculated that Murphy could return to the franchise, with some even believing that a zombie in the first trailer for '28 Years Later' was played by the actor. It's actually an art dealer and acting newcomer, Angus Neill. '28 Years Later' releases to theaters June 20 from Sony Pictures. The sequel, '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple,' is slated for January 16, 2026. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Australia Fines Telegram $600,000 Over Terrorism, Child Abuse Content Sports Former Al Zamalek Player Ibrahim Shika Passes away after Long Battle with Cancer Sports Neymar Announced for Brazil's Preliminary List for 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers News Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly Inaugurates Two Indian Companies Arts & Culture New Archaeological Discovery from 26th Dynasty Uncovered in Karnak Temple Business Fear & Greed Index Plummets to Lowest Level Ever Recorded amid Global Trade War Arts & Culture Zahi Hawass: Claims of Columns Beneath the Pyramid of Khafre Are Lies News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks News Shell Unveils Cost-Cutting, LNG Growth Plan
