Pilates girls 'fuming' as Aldi's viral £150 reformers sell out within minutes of launch - as supermarket issues restock update
Aldi 's latest Specialbuy has sent fitness fans into a frenzy - but limited stock meant not everyone was lucky enough to get their hands on the supermarket's new viral Reformer machine.
The supermarket chain launched a £150 Reformer Pilates machine today, offering a cut-price alternative to the luxury studio equipment that usually retails for anywhere between £2,000 to £6,000.
Pilates fans rushed to snap up the budget-friendly reformer, but frustration quickly grew as shoppers claimed some outlets had as few as six units - with stock vanishing within minutes - while others said their local Aldi didn't receive any at all.
Writing on X, formerly Twitter, one woman explained how she missed out despite arriving an hour before the store opened - as the supermarket responded to her query about restocking the budget buy.
'I was 7th in the queue at 9am and they only had six in store. Will you be bringing them back?' her message to Aldi read.
'Sorry to hear this!' they replied. 'We have been known to repeat Specialbuys, but we can't make any promises.'
The update comes after lifestyle and fitness influencers took to TikTok to document their hunt for the popular machine, with Yaz Moore arriving one hour before the store opened to make sure she secured the machine.
In a clip shared on her TikTok, she explained Aldi gave people tickets as they arrived to make sure the first six people got their pilates machines.
She said: 'It was carnage in there, when they brought them out to the front, there was loads of people running up to the workers, I actually feel for the people working there.
'I'm so glad I went at the time I did and managed to get in there quick, it's in the boot, mission success.'
Meanwhile, Tiktoker Seren Smalley took to her social media to showcase how the machine was easily assembled after she bagged one.
In response, some of her followers rushed to the comments section to confirm they had also successfully purchased the reformer while sharing their in-store experiences.
One person said: 'Got to mine at 9.35...I'd already missed people going in so I didn't know it was open. Bagged my ticket though!!
'Number 6...yes I did run to the front of the store to get a ticket (no shame here) the two guys sent by their wives were not getting the last ticket (sorry guys) currently putting it up now. I don't care I'm that excited to get it set up!'
Someone else wrote: 'I arrived at 7am to ours. Six at our store. All tickets gone by 8:45.'
Another said: 'I arrived at 9:25 and I was 5th in the queue!! I got a ticket and was successful.'
However, multiple fitness fans were disappointed and left empty-handed after trying their luck at numerous stores.
One frustrated woman was fuming after missing out, despite arriving an hour before the store opened, as the supermarket addressed whether the items will be restocked
Many rushed to the comments to say they were also successful and managed to bag a reformer by arriving at the store early
One person said: 'My Aldi didn't even stock any! I went to the other one 10 mins away from me and she said by 10.05 today they were all gone.'
Another said: 'So lucky. I tried 4 and failed'
Someone else added: 'Mine all sold out only had 4 in stock x'
A third added: 'We had six at our store. I and one other got there at 7am. Madness. Got a ticket at eight. Went for a drive and headed back there at 8:45. There were another four stood outside with trolley's. All gone before store opened.'
Another influencer couldn't hide her frustration as she took to her TikTok @lifeofjazz__ to say she wasn't able to secure the item.
The travel blogger said: 'I didn't really think that my area would really care about it, only to hear that it's all sold out.'
Meanwhile, TikToker Priya revealed she was 'fuming' because she drove to three stores and was unable to get her hands on the fitness equipment.
Taking to her TikTok @priya.altoria, she said: 'I got here at ten to 10 am and I'm absolutely fuming because they are all gone, everyone is already here with their beds.
'There is like six beds for the whole store... now I am absolutely gutted. I'm off to another Aldi to go look for them.'
Priya arrived at another Aldi store only to find out they were all sold out as well.
An Aldi employee told her: 'We only had three in store and people queued up from about 8am.'
The Influencer went to a third store in search of the item but an employee told her they only had one in stock and it was sold.
Expressing her frustration, Priya said: 'I am actually annoyed and not because I was late or didn't queue early enough, but what was the point in queueing hours before when they only had one, three beds and six beds, I was never going to get one.
'That was really unfair Aldi, if you are going to create such a big hype around a product launch then stock more, you know everyone is going to want one, what was the point in that.
'They are saying they are not going to restock them either, so yeah I'm not really happy.'
Priya wasn't the only one left disappointed with the lack of stock, as one person claimed she queued only to discover her local store didn't have any to sell.
Commenting under her video, one person wrote: 'My store didn't have any! We found out at 10:45 after queuing for 40 minutes, despite staff reassuring us that they had them in stock.'
When the discount supermarket first launched the at-home reformer Pilates machine in Australia last year, it became a social media sensation for its low, low price.
The exercise, which has surged in popularity in the last 10 years, is widely touted as one of the best movements for your body and has a cult following with celebrities including Jennifer Aniston, Margot Robbie and Hailey Bieber.
But those wanting to indulge in the practice will often pay up to £35 a class - making it an extremely expensive hobby.
Instructors also recommend a person practices three time a week - meaning people can spend hundreds of pounds a month on the practice.
Aldi's machine features five adaptable resistance levels, using resistance bands, as well as adjustable height settings.
It can also be folded for storage and has transport wheels that make it easier to move around to the right spots.

BCP launches British pound stablecoin
BCP Technologies has launched the first British pound-backed stablecoin from an FCA-registered crypto issuer. 0 BCP's tokenised GBP (tGBP) is backed 1:1 by reserves held in a segregated account at a UK-regulated financial institution and is fully redeemable for sterling at any time. BCP says the stablecoin is now live after more than a year-long review process, including a month in the FCA's regulatory sandbox. As the stablecoin market heats up, the firm is hoping to take advantage of the fact that GBP options have so far been limited, typically issued by offshore entities with low liquidity. It says that tGBP uses the reliability of UK financial infrastructure for the minting and redeeming process and has the flexibility and speed of blockchain technology. Benoit Marzouk, CEO, BCP Technologies, says: "tGBP supports a broad range of use cases: GBP self-custody for retail and corporates to bring an alternative from banks (and their inherent fractional reserve risk), cross-border payments, institutional collateral management, a GBP option for DeFi lending protocols and a GBP on-chain access for bitcoin-backed loans. "It might also be used in the future as the main GBP rail for settling tokenised assets like bonds, securities, or real estate."

Oreos and Chips Ahoy maker sues nation's fastest-growing grocery store: 'Blatant copies'
Snack giant Mondelez is suing Aldi for too closely resembling the packaging of its much-loved treats. Mondelez, the maker of Oreo, Chips Ahoy and Triscuit, alleges in the suit that Aldi's packaging for its own-brand alternatives 'blatantly copies' its own. Mondelez says the similar packaging is 'likely to deceive and confuse' consumers looking to buy its products. The main items concerned in the lawsuit are Aldi's peanut butter creme-filled cookies, chocolate chip cookies and Thin Wheat crackers that Mondelez alleges have packaging too similar to its own Nutter Butter, Chips Ahoy and Wheat Thins. Mondelez's filing at the the federal court for the Northern District of Illinois on May 27 asks the court to order Aldi to stop selling such products and to award the snack maker monetary damages. German supermarket Aldi has become the fastest-growing grocery chain in the US, with a business model that revolves around selling mostly own-brand products cheaper than popular name brands. 'You want to fly close enough to the sun because you want the benefit of something,' but not get too close, trademark lawyer Josh Gerben told CNN of Aldi's strategy. Gerben said the law is designed to protect consumers. 'I can go to the store and reasonably assume that I recognize the name, and that's who I'm buying from,' he told the outlet. But some customers 'think that they might be buying something from the Oreo brand or Wheat Thins, but they're actually getting a substitute.' Gerben added that lawsuits such as the one brought by Mondelez are taken on a case-by-case basis, and there's no 'bright line test' that would determine if a copycat brand has gone too far. Mondelez said in its filings that it had already had to pull up Aldi on copycat products of its other snacks including Oreo cookies, Teddy Grahams, Belvita biscuits and Triscuit crackers. In response Aldi eventually 'discontinued' and 'changed certain of these infringing products,' Mondelez said. Now however, the snack giant says Aldi must be stopped with the force of the law or it will 'irreparably harm' its brands. Aldi has faced legal action in the past for its own brand products too closely mimicking other brands. In December an Australian federal court said Aldi had violated copyright law by too closely copying the packaging of Hampden Holdings' Baby Bellies puffs on its alternative children's snacks. Aldi is currently in the midst of an aggressive expansion push in the US Aldi's CEO, Jason Hart, has led the company plans to open hundreds of new stores 'Aldi sought to use for its own commercial advantage the designs that had been developed by a trade rival,' according to the judge. Adding: 'I consider Aldi's conduct to be flagrant.' Aldi is continuing its rapid expansion in the US, recently announcing plans to open a further 225 stores this year, adding to its already 2,400 locations across the country. Its most recent openings include two new locations in Las Vegas in April. 'We've built our reputation on delivering real value without cutting corners,' Aldi's CEO, Jason Hart said. 'We're growing rapidly from coast-to-coast. Opening stores in Las Vegas gives us the opportunity for continued growth in this exciting market and allows us to bring an affordable and fun grocery experience to shoppers nationwide.'

Love Island star's secret connection to previous finalist is revealed ahead of their arrival in the villa
Love Island has confirmed the full line-up of contestants set to enter the villa for the 12th series on June 9, for another season of love triangles, bedroom trysts and messy breakups. After joining the popular dating series in January 2023, Maya Jama will once again be at the helm, as the ITV2 show celebrates a decade on screens and promises to have 'more twists and turns than ever before' in honour of the anniversary. This year's crop of hopefuls include a Declan Rice body double, a firebreather and a Maura Higgins lookalike. But one of the new Islanders may have an edge on his fellow castmates, as he boasts a connection to a previous finalist. According to The Sun, Dejon Noel-Williams is pals with 2023 star Tyrique Hyde, who made it all the way to the final with then-girlfriend Ella Thomas. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Dejon, who plays football semi-professionally alongside his job as a personal trainer, is also the son of former Premier League striker Gifton. Ex-Watford and Stoke striker Gifton, 45, began his professional football career in 1996 and last played for Codicote in 2017 before retiring. And during his time at Watford from 1996 to 2003, he was teammates with none other than Micah Hyde, who is the father of Tyrique. The two stars played together at the club and looked to have been good friends, with their sons Dejon and Tyrique being the same age. The two boys also both followed in their fathers' footsteps by becoming footballers themselves. And in his role as a personal trainer, Dejon also counts Tyrique as one of his clients, with the duo often sharing videos of them working out at the gym together. Ahead of his villa entrance, Dejon revealed that he 'met all kinds of famous people' because of his footballing father and even remarked on a meeting with David Beckham. He said: 'When I was younger it was weird because he was just my dad, but we'd go to a game and fans were asking for photos. I've met David Beckham, he was really nice.' Dejon, from London, boasts 11,000 followers on social media thanks in part to his regular shirtless gym snaps and in 2021, represented the Grenada national football team. His bio reads: 'I go beyond the gym -helping you build Strength, Confidence & Discipline for life.' Asked what he was looking for in a girl in the villa, he said he wanted someone who 'is beautiful on the inside and out, looks after themselves and is healthy'. Tyrique shot to fame on the 2023 series with his romance with Ella being heavily tested with some dramatic ups and downs. They exited the villa together, but shortly after announced they'd split in November 2023, before trying to give it another go. But, in February 2024, MailOnline exclusively revealed Ella and Tyrique had parted ways permanently - after six months as a couple. A source told MailOnline: 'Ella and Tyrique have decided it's time to go their separate ways. 'They have such love for each other, but they often struggle to get along and as viewers saw in the villa, they're always arguing.' Tyrique and Ella exited the villa together, but shortly after announced they'd split in November 2023, before trying to give it another go, before parting ways permanently in February last year (pictured in September 2023) Meanwhile, Dejon is not the only footballing connection in the upcoming series, as fans of the lower leagues may have spotted a star dubbed 'The Surrey Zidane'.
