Why Whitesands Beach is among the best in the world
Whitesands Beach, located near St David's, ranked 28th in Big Travel 7's list of the world's best.
Describing the Pembrokeshire beach as "arguably Wales' best", the experts explained: "This Blue Flag beach is overlooked by the hill of Carn Llidi, while the white sands curve towards the rocky headland of St Davids Head.
"A popular but quiet beach due to its size, it is well worth visiting next time you're in Wales, as it is a favourite among both locals and tourists.
"The water quality is excellent, perfect for swimming in the summer months as well as snorkelling and scuba diving."
This is not the first time Whitesands has been recognised as a top beach.
Conde Nast Traveller also ranked it among the UK's best beaches for 2025, in a listicle released earlier this year.
Whitesands Beach isn't just highly recommended by experts, but by visitors as well, boasting a 4.2 (out of 5) rating on Tripadvisor from 532 reviews.
One person said: "Stunning beach and a great coastal path walk near the beach. Beach is great for families and surfing/ swimming. A great place to visit in summer or winter."
Another visitor to the Pembrokeshire beach added: "An absolute gem! Beautiful dog friendly beach with the sound of crashing waves.
"Footpath either side fir a view across the bay. Called into the cafe which is also dog friendly for an ice cream, the staff where really friendly and welcoming.

I tried The Titanic Breakfast at the Harbour Hub Café

I was walking along the promenade in Rhyl recently looking for somewhere for a spot of breakfast. On approaching the pedestrian swing bridge I spotted the Harbour Hub Cafe, perched on the dock with the sea beyond. The Harbour Hub Cafe - Mike Peters statue and swing bridge at Rhyl Harbour It's a place I had wanted to try so I crossed the bridge and went inside. The Harbour Hub Cafe The Harbour Hub Cafe, technically in Kinmel Bay I believe, is a welcoming place, with a timeless quality. It was easy to reminisce about childhood visits to the seaside. Most of the breakfast menu items all have a maritime theme, although the most popular mode of transport in evidence at the cafe was definitely the bicycle. Options include the Harbour Master's, Captain's and Fisherman's breakfast. The Captain's Breakfast is the vegetarian options, which, with a few tweaks on request, I'm sure could be made vegan. The Harbour Hub Cafe - outside seating I, however, had to embark on The Titanic Breakfast - two bacon, two sausages, two fried eggs, two hash browns, black pudding, baked beans. It also comes with two slices of toast and choice of tea or coffee. But not an iceberg lettuce in sight. The Harbour Hub Cafe - Cup of tea It was a pleasant surprise that the breakfast came with a hot drink. The price was £11.50, which I felt was reasonable. The smaller Fisherman's Breakfast is a more budget-friendly £5.50. ROOM FOR MORE? Lunch at Tu Mundo on Prestatyn's High Street This might be my favourite restaurant in North Wales! I enjoyed breakfast at what might be Rhyl's friendliest cafe The breakfast was in a word Titanic, too big to fail even. Unlike the door that kept Kate Winslett afloat at the end of the eponymous movie, there was no spare room at all on the square plate that barely contained the large fry up. The Harbour Hub Cafe - The Titnanic Breakfast All of the items were well-cooked. The sausages were thin, but there was plenty of meat on the plate. I prefer my eggs over easy to sunny side up, but I imagine the friendly staff would have done this if I'd thought to ask. The Harbour Hub Cafe - Cheeky breakfast sandwich The toast was a great addition, and I couldn't resist making a breakfast sandwich. There are plenty of outside tables if you want to take your chances with the seagulls. It is clearly a popular spot with cyclists, located as it is on the Coastal Path, and there were several groups stopping off to refuel themselves when I visited. The Harbour Hub Cafe - Ice cream for dogs is available It is also dog friendly, inside and out, with treats and water bowls available - or you can even buy your pooch an ice cream! The Harbour Hub Cafe has a food hygiene rating of five, the maximum, and was last inspected in June this year. On Tripadvisor, it has an average rating of 4.2 out of five based on 255 reviews. Myra W: "Lovely little place. Perfect setting. Food was lovely. Staff were friendly. I hope to visit again very soon. Thank you so much." The Harbour Hub Cafe Kate D: "Great little cafe and only a short walk from our site. Our boys love scootering up along the coastal path for an ice cream here. "The staff here are lovely, and you are always greeted with a smile. Great views of the harbour." The Harbour Hub Cafe - menus Paul M: "The Hub is a firm favourite of ours for Sunday breakfast. "The staff are friendly and helpful; the food is freshly cooked and hot when served. The staff are extremely efficient, and tables are cleared and cleaned immediately. "The views of the sea and hills make it a pleasant place to sit and enjoy the food." I would concur with the above reviews. I will definitely consider visiting again, and, I think, due to its location, it would be a great place to take friends with children.

TASTE TEST: Breakfast at Wrexham's Cafe De Galles

Using trusty reviews from customers on TripAdvisor, I have often been able to whittle down the best of the best into a 'top five' article. A name that often crops up in those lists is Cafe De Galles, which is based in Wrexham. It is currently regarded, on TripAdvisor, as the fourth best place to go for breakfast in the Wrexham area with an overall score of 4.8 out of 5 from its 111 reviews. So I made my way over to Church Street, where the café is located right in the shadow of the magnificent St Giles' Church. Immediately, I realised that the venue gave off a cosy and traditional Welsh vibe, temporarily taking me back to my childhood of afternoons spent in cafes with my mum and nain. I grabbed what was the last table available (luckily I was on my own!) and took a look at the menu. I had somewhat starved myself ahead of this occasion, so that I could give the breakfast a fair and thorough review. After a read of the menu, I opted for the standard English Breakfast (£5.70) which included one black pudding, a slice of bacon, a sausage, a tomato, an egg, two slices of toast and beans. I added a hash brown for an additional 75p and mushrooms were also available to add. The bigger breakfast, which included two of everything, was on offer for a very respectable price of £7.95. YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE... I decided to have a bottle of water alongside my breakfast as I'm not a tea or coffee drinker. But, I did notice that a pot of tea for one is on the menu at a price of just £2.30. Paninis, toasties, jacket potatoes and even burgers are also listed, and a wonderful selection of homemade cakes, including a chocolate sponge cake, were also on display at the counter. My breakfast at Cafe De Galles. (Image: Newsquest) I must say, I can see why so many people recommended Cafe De Galles. The breakfast was spot on, the sausages were not overcooked and neither was the bacon, as can often be the case. They were done to perfection (or at least how I like them to be!). And, of course, it was accompanied with some HP brown sauce! The black pudding as crumbly and tasty and the slice of tomato was full of flavour also. Staff there were attentive and quick and the grand sum at the end came to just £8.10. There are not many places in this day and age where you will find a cheaper breakfast that is, at the same time, still top notch. Cafe De Galles is a must visit if you're after a quick but delicious breakfast in Wrexham. And it's a breakfast with a view too with the historic parish church just outside its window. I will be back in future to try out the bigger breakfast!

Is this absolutely stunning waterfall the best in Scotland?

For years now, the scenic point has been a popular spot for those travelling through the area, with many visitors describing it as both "absolutely stunning" and "breathtaking". Aside from its natural beauty, its position just off the A82 has helped cement it as a must-visit resting point. According to Visit Scotland, the fall is 30ft high and is part of the River Falloch, which leads to Loch Lomond through Glen Falloch. The waterfall has long been a popular spot for those travelling along the A82 (Image: Tripadvisor) Those coming here can make use of the caged walkway, which provides a closer look at the waterfall and its plunge pool, according to World of Waterfalls. Why the Falls of Falloch could be the best waterfall in the whole of Scotland The waterfall has received a lot of praise on Tripadvisor, where visitors gave the natural wonder a 4.4/5 out of 305 reviews. One person said: "This waterfall is a short walk from the car park and is well worth a stop, especially after heavy rain. The falls are impressive, not as high as some, but water moving with great force." The Falls of Falloch also have an awesome viewing platform (Image: Tripadvisor) Another penned: "Nice spot for a quick visit. Only small falls, but quite a scenic spot. Some people were swimming in the pools at the bottom of the falls. Short walk from the car park, and there is a small viewing platform." Recommended Reading: A third added: "Absolutely stunning. Even the road trip to get to the Falls is beautiful! Easy to get to, short walk from the car park (although a tourist place and not all the tourists are considerate!) and a breathtaking view." Someone else advised: "What you see depends on recent rain, but it's worth a quick look if you're passing. "The small free car park can be very busy, but it's unlikely everyone is staying for long. Wander along the caged tunnel for a different view of the falls."
