Freddie Mercury's 'secret' daughter speaks out for the first time ahead of publication of bombshell book
The woman, known only as B, claims she was conceived in 1976 after her mother — the wife of a close friend of Mercury — had a fling with the Queen frontman, a year after Bohemian Rhapsody became a hit.
Her book, Love, Freddie, co-written with author Lesley-Anne Jones, is due out in September and draws on what she says are 17 handwritten diaries Mercury gave her shortly before his death in 1991 from complications related to AIDS.
B says Mercury had a 'very close and loving' relationship with her, adding: 'He cherished me like a treasured possession.'
In a statement published by the Daily Mail, she said: 'I didn't want to share my Dad with the whole world. After his death, I had to learn to live with the attacks against him, the misrepresentations of him, and with the feeling that my Dad now belonged to everyone.
'I cried and mourned my Dad, while fans all around the world mourned Freddie. When you are 15 years old, it's not easy. I had to become an adult without him… For 30 years I had to build my life and family without him… I needed to have my Dad just for me and my family. How could I have spoken before?'
Her claims have been met with scepticism from some of Mercury's closest friends. Mary Austin, the singer's former partner who inherited much of his estate, has reportedly said she did not know B existed. Guitarist Brian May is also said to have had no knowledge of a daughter and has expressed doubt over her story.
B said she was 'devastated' by Austin's alleged response, accusing her of 'saying nothing' for 34 years while 'Freddie's life was distorted, twisted and rewritten'. She also criticised Austin for commenting before reading the book.
Author Lesley-Anne Jones said: 'I am surprised by Mary Austin's response. As a journalist I approached her for interview countless times over many years, but she never once responded. In this book, however, there is only one voice: that of Freddie's daughter herself. The story is hers. The quotes are hers. Her source is the collection of 17 handwritten diaries that Freddie gave her three weeks before he died.'
B said it was her decision to approach Jones and insisted the journalist had respected her wishes 'each step of the way'. She added that the 'reasons and circumstances' of contacting her were explained in the book.
She concluded by lamenting the 'discussions we couldn't have, questions we couldn't ask and answers we didn't get to give' with her father over the last 34 years, along with the 'birthdays, Christmases, moments and time we never got to enjoy together'.

Gwyneth Paltrow's Love Life is Hollywood History
Gwyneth Paltrow has long been an it girl: It girl of the '90s, it girl of health and wellness, and now, even her daughter is following in her footsteps, having shined last year as the it girl of the Les Bals de Debutantes in Paris. She's starred in some of our favorite films, has been a part of some of our favorite pop culture moments, and has been romantically linked to some of the most famous faces in Hollywood. Here, a look at the relationship history of Gwyneth Paltrow. Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Sean Leonard (1994) Though a brief romance, nothing says 90s like Gwyneth Paltrow and Robert Sean Leonard, who was on the rise thanks to his lead role in 1989's Dead Poets Society. The actor has spoken briefly about Paltrow and his romance with the actress over the years, but only with fondness for both her and her career. 'I remember watching Gwyneth Paltrow deliver her Oscar acceptance speech in floods of tears,' he told Metro back in 2013 about his discomfort at major industry events of the sort. 'My God, how open. The poor girl was just so intimate with these unnamed millions of people.' Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Pitt (1994—1997) Talk about a '90s supercouple! This couple was linked for quite some time, and Brad even got down on one knee before they called it quits. Since their 90s romance, Paltrow has opened up about their love story, telling Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast back in 2023, "There were a number of things that had happened, he was nine years older than me so he was far more…he knew what he wanted, he was ready to do it and I was kind of all over the place, so it was really one of those difficult things, where I felt like, 'Oh my God, not only am I not ready, I'm not living up to the standards again.' It was a familiar refrain I felt about myself." Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Affleck (1997—2000) Another 90s supercouple was Paltrow and Ben Affleck, who was a major Hollywood player at the time thanks to his Good Will Hunting (1997) success. The actress, however, revealed that though her parents loved him, they accepted things once the two called it quits. 'I think they appreciated how he's super intelligent, and he's really talented and funny, but he wasn't in a good place in his life to have a girlfriend,' the actress revealed of their romance to Howard Stern in 2015. 'They loved him, but they were okay with us not being together.' Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin (married from 2003—2014) Perhaps Paltrow's most notable relationship was that with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, with whom she shares her two children, Apple and Moses. 'We were close, though we had never fully settled into being a couple. We just didn't quite fit together. There was always a bit of unease and unrest. But man, did we love our children,' Paltrow wrote in an essay for British Vogue. 'Between the day that I knew and the day we finally relented to the truth, we tried everything. We did not want to fail. We didn't want to let anyone down. We desperately didn't want to hurt our children. We didn't want to lose our family.' Today, Paltrow and Martin enjoy a harmonious co-parent relationship since their divorce. Brad Falchuck (married 2018—present) Paltrow tied the knot with TV producer Brad Falchuk in 2018 after meeting back in 2014, and since then, the couple has enjoyed a happy and loving relationship. 'He has things that were reminiscent of my dad. It's like blue-eyed, Jewish, TV writer, with a heart of gold and a great sense of humor,' Paltrow told PEOPLE in 2023. 'I finally chose my dad.' Noel Gallagher's One-of-a-Kind Jaguar MKII Convertible Finds a Buyer
Noel Gallagher's One-of-a-Kind Jaguar MKII Convertible Finds a Buyer originally appeared on Autoblog. Few classic cars flaunt British suave as well as a Jaguar. But the 1967 Jaguar MKII Convertible owned by Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher takes things to the next level, thanks to its story and unique character. While Jaguar's recent sales have struggled to keep pace in a changing market, this car reminds us of the marque's timeless appeal. Commissioned in the 1990s by Gallagher himself, it blends the elegance of 1960s Jaguar design with tasteful rock and roll upgrades. Today, this rare convertible is under offer, with a buyer's bid accepted and the sale moving forward. A Rock Star's Custom Dream Car Back in the mid-90s, when Oasis was dominating the music scene, Gallagher decided it was time to get behind the wheel himself. Despite not having a driver's license at the time, he still craved a car tailored to his needs. So he consulted with Jaguar specialist Vicarage to transform a Jaguar MKII sedan from 1967 — the same year he was born — into a one-of-a-kind convertible. The two-year project involved removing the rear doors and lengthening the front doors, turning the four-door sedan into a sleek two-door convertible. Gallagher requested modern touches like a fully electric folding roof, power steering, electric windows, and an automatic transmission, making the car much easier and more comfortable to drive than the typical MKII. Ironically, Gallagher never took the car out for a spin himself. Instead, this wife did once in a blue moon. Stored Away But Never Forgotten Most of its life, this Jaguar was carefully stored away, but it still caught the public eye now and then. It appeared in a music video for Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, driven by actor Matt Smith, best known for his role on Doctor Who. Then, in 2022, Jaguar Land Rover Classic acquired the car and showcased it during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations, with iconic model Twiggy riding in the back seat. From music video star to royal celebration guest, these appearances helped cement the car's status as more than just a collector's piece, but as a British cultural icon, too. Quintessentially British Finished in glossy black paint with a rich red leather interior and chrome wire wheels, this Jaguar is one of the poshest cars money can buy. And thanks to its origins as a sedan, it still comfortably seats four adults along with their luggage. Noel Gallagher's Jaguar isn't just another low-mileage garage queen; it's a symbol of a moment in British history, bridging '90s rock royalty and royal tradition. Now that it's under offer, this one-of-a-kind MKII Convertible is ready to continue its story with a new owner who will appreciate its unique heritage. Noel Gallagher's One-of-a-Kind Jaguar MKII Convertible Finds a Buyer first appeared on Autoblog on Aug 10, 2025 This story was originally reported by Autoblog on Aug 10, 2025, where it first appeared.

Battlefield 6 producers stress it's "really important to us" that cosmetics "feel grounded" and "authentic to the franchise," so don't expect to see the likes of Peter Griffin and Hatsune Miku here
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. As Beavis and Butt-Head run rampant on Call of Duty's lobbies, Battlefield 6's producer has said that all of the game's skins will fit the game's universe. Funny skins are a staple of games now. Thanks to Fortnite becoming the biggest thing in the world and letting you form a squad of Peter Griffin, John Cena, Solid Snake, and Sabrina Carpenter, crossovers are a hot topic. Even once realism-focused series' like Call of Duty and Rainbow Six have American Dad and Yakuza / Like a Dragon skins respectively. So the Battlefield fanbase has been a bit worried about the upcoming game becoming one of those, and while skin leaks were promising, we now have word that it shouldn't be the case. Speaking to ComicBook, Battlefield 6 producers David Sirland and Alexia Christofi were asked about their stance on skins was, and if we can expect to see the likes Jar Jar Binks and Hatsune Miku teaming up. "What I will say is what's really important to us is that things feel grounded," Christofi says, adding that "we want people to express themselves and to have cool skins and peacock in a way like 'I look pretty cool and I have this great weapon skin… but we want it to feel authentic to the franchise, that's the approach we're thinking." Meanwhile Sirland speaks about how the team went into designing the classes, and stressed the importance of being able to tell the classes apart at a glance like having ghillie material for skins for the Recon class. Sirland says: "There are some rules there, but it's looser rules than 'It's always going to look like this.' But it needs to feel like it fits the universe, because part of why I think we're getting good feedback here is because it feels like 3 and 4, in a sense, where it fits. I think that's really important." Of course, it's easy to say "we won't get weird" and it's another thing to stick to it. In the past Battlefield hasn't succumbed to the crossover skin, but I can also see a future where EA wants to cross-promote and we see the likes of Apex Legends characters join the fray. Hopefully DICE is able to fight back enough to avoid that though. Battlefield 6 players on Steam won't need to use the divisive EA App in order to play, and fans are thrilled: "We cannot stop winning right now."
