New Orleans school placed on lockdown due to gun scare
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department responded Tuesday, April 8 to the scene of a lockdown at an area school.
According to the NOPD, around 11 a.m. officers responded to ReNEW Dolores T. Aaron Academy after a man reportedly ran inside the school claiming to have a medical emergency.
St. Tammany Parish deputies investigate 'incident' on Tammany Trace
School officials told officers that the man sat down in the foyer of the school, took out a gun but set it down. Staff members reportedly spotted the gun and call 911 but the subject ran off, entering a classroom.
A 'hard lockdown' of the campus was initiated.

Critically missing caregiver sought in New Orleans
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man who serves as a caregiver for an older, disabled family member is being sought in New Orleans after he went missing on Tuesday afternoon. New Orleans police searching for suspect in St. Claude art heist
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department is trying to identify and locate a suspect in an art theft investigation. The case is the latest one to roll on the Wheel of Justice. According to police, the crime happened around 2:40 in the afternoon on May 22 at a business in the 2300 block of Saint Claude Avenue. Police also released a security camera image of the suspect. NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Archdiocese of New Orleans is doing its part to make sure New Orleans' first responders and their equipment are ready for hurricane season. This is the annual 'Blessing of the Fleet' event at the New Orleans Police Department's 'Special Operations Division' on Tchoupitoulas Street. NORD Splash Day summer kickoff Archbishop Gregory Aymond blessed first responders from multiple agencies. The archbishop also recognized the agencies for their response to other disasters throughout the year, including the New Year's Day terror attack on Bourbon Street. 'They're humans, and they risk their lives, like they did on Jan. 1 and throughout the hurricane season, especially after a hurricane. So we very much depend on them and expertise. We need them, and that's what we want to say today: we not only need you, but we pray for God's protection upon you and all that you do,' said Aymond.
