Meet contemporary Christian singer Lauren Daigle: the Louisiana native was rejected by American Idol but performed at this year's Super Bowl, and courted controversy for going on Ellen DeGeneres' show
This February, the Super Bowl saw the Philadelphia Eagles crush the Kansas City Chiefs at the New Orleans Caesars Superdome. No doubt Taylor Swift, who's dating Chiefs' tight end Travis Kelce, was disappointed. But alongside the game, fans were treated to exciting performances by Kendrick Lamar – who headlined the halftime show – and Jon Batiste Also taking the stage was Lauren Daigle. The 33-year-old contemporary Christian singer was joined by Trombone Shorty and two other instrumentalists for a Louisiana-inspired big band performance of 'America the Beautiful'. New Orleans school placed on lockdown due to gun scare
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The New Orleans Police Department responded Tuesday, April 8 to the scene of a lockdown at an area school. According to the NOPD, around 11 a.m. officers responded to ReNEW Dolores T. Aaron Academy after a man reportedly ran inside the school claiming to have a medical emergency. St. Tammany Parish deputies investigate 'incident' on Tammany Trace School officials told officers that the man sat down in the foyer of the school, took out a gun but set it down. Staff members reportedly spotted the gun and call 911 but the subject ran off, entering a classroom. A 'hard lockdown' of the campus was initiated.
