Two Penn State football players charged with marijuana possession, underage alcohol purchasing
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (WTAJ) — Two Penn State University football players are facing some charges after an officer allegedly smelled marijuana coming from their apartment. Dejuan Lane, 20, a safety for the football team, and Kenneth Woseley, 18, a cornerback, have been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after a Penn State University police officer smelled marijuana while on foot patrol near Nittany Apartments on the night of July 28. According to the complaint, the officer could smell the marijuana odor the closer they got to the front door of the apartment. The officer also observed a plastic bag covering the smoke detector through the opened second-floor bedroom window. Both Lane and Woseley were determined to be residents of the apartment. A search was conducted of the apartment, according to police, and in a room alleged to be Lane's, a black glass container and two plastic bags with a dusting of suspected marijuana were found in a trash can. Police tested the black container, which tested positive for THC. In Woseley's room, police allegedly found a Muha Meds vape that was suspected to contain marijuana. Woseley admitted to police that it did contain THC, with testing done by the officer to confirm. Woseley is also facing a charge of purchasing alcohol by a minor, after police say a bottle of Don Julio tequila was found unopened in his room as well. WTAJ News reached out to Penn State Athletics for comment about the pending charges. Kristina Petersen, Senior Associate AD for Communications for Penn State Athletics, provided the following statement: 'We are aware of the allegations against Dejuan Lane and Kenneth Woseley. These alleged actions do not reflect the values and standards of our program and will be addressed. We will not comment any further as this is an ongoing legal matter.' Hearings for both Lane and Woseley are scheduled for Aug. 27. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed. 79 arrested, over 3kg of heroin seized in 5-day drug blitz
SINGAPORE – A total of 79 people were arrested in a five-day drug bust where a total of almost 3.5kg of heroin was seized, among other drugs. In a statement on Aug 11, the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) said that the anti-drug blitz took place from Aug 4 to 8, and covered areas like Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Batok, Jurong, Pasir Ris, Tampines and Yishun. The drugs seized are 3,457g of heroin, 909g of Ice (methamphetamine), 3g of cannabis, five Ecstasy tablets, five Erimin-5 tablets and one bottle of GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate). Anyone found guilty of trafficking more than 15g of diamorphine, or pure heroin, or 250g of methamphetamine may face the mandatory death penalty. The drugs are estimated to be worth more than $470,000, and the heroin, Ice and cannabis seized could feed the addiction of 2,160 abusers for a week, CNB said. Among the 79 arrested were five suspected drug traffickers, including four Malaysians who were nabbed in raids where the bulk of the heroin and Ice was seized. A Malaysian man, 25, was arrested at Woodlands Checkpoint on the evening of Aug 5 for attempting to smuggle drugs into Singapore using a car, CNB said. About 2,033g of heroin and 731g of Ice were found in biscuit packages in the back of a Malaysia-registered car which was flagged for additional checks there. Separately, CNB officers arrested a Singaporean man, 53, a Malaysian man, 39, and a Malaysian woman, 43, near Jurong West and Henderson Road early on Aug 6, following a tip-off. The Malaysian man was found with 60g of Ice and key cards to a hotel near Geylang, said CNB. CNB then raided the hotel rooms and found a total of about 1,421g of heroin, 62g of Ice and drug paraphernalia. Later on Aug 6, CNB arrested a 28-year-old Malaysian man near Tampines for suspected drug offences, in a follow-up operation. Investigations are ongoing. Dallas police seize nearly 400 pounds of marijuana from storage facility
A man is in jail after Dallas police seized almost 400 pounds from a storage facility earlier this month. The Dallas Police Department said a tip was sent in about a shipment of marijuana being ready for transport to Dallas. Detectives were able to locate the storage facility where the marijuana was stored and obtained a search warrant. On Aug. 6, officers executed the warrant at the storage facility in the 4300 block of Communications Drive. There, detectives seized about 398 pounds of marijuana. Zhenqi Lin, 47, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana between 50 and 2,000 pounds, a second-degree felony. "Anytime we get drugs off the street, it's a success – and almost 400 pounds of marijuana taken off the street represents a significant success," said Major Yancey Nelson, commander of the Special Investigations Division. As of Aug. 14, Li remains in the Dallas County Jail on a $25,000 bond, according to jail records.
