She Looked In The Mirror And Turned Into A Snake? Viral 'Naagin Reveal' Video Sparks Laughter

The idea is borrowed from a long-running cinematic and folkloric myth, that a shape-shifting serpent (Ichhadhari Naagin), reveals its true self when looking in a mirror
A viral Instagram video claiming to capture an Ichhadhari Naagin shedding its disguise in front of a mirror is drawing more laughs than believers, but it also reveals just how far old superstitions have travelled in the age of reels and likes.
The video, posted by Instagram user @salman_pathan230, shows a man placing a mirror in front of a snake. As the Bollywood track ' Tere Ishq Ka Mujh Par Hua Ye Asar Hai" from the film Naagin plays in the background, the snake is seen reacting to its reflection, and even lunging at it. Overlaid on the clip is the caption, ' Kaanch ko dekh kar naagin aayi apne asli roop mein (After seeing the mirror, the snake came in its real form)."
The idea is borrowed from a long-running cinematic and folkloric myth, that a shape-shifting serpent (Ichhadhari Naagin), reveals its true self when looking in a mirror. This belief has been recycled endlessly in films like Naagin and on television, where snakes are often portrayed as vengeful shapeshifters capable of taking human form.
But in reality, there is no scientific basis for such a creature. 'Everything is a legend," as herpetologists have repeatedly stated. No biological or zoological research supports the idea that snakes, or any animal, can consciously transform into humans or retain memories of past lives, as often depicted in mythology.
In this particular video, there is no transformation, no hidden form, and certainly no proof of myth meeting reality. What viewers see is a regular snake reacting to its reflection, a behaviour observed in many animals who either mistake it for another creature or feel threatened.
Still, the clip has racked up over 1.06 crore views. Thousands have reacted, many with sarcasm. 'You came in your real form, meaning were you roaming around as Reena Roy earlier?" one user commented, poking fun at the film star who played a snake-woman in the original Naagin movie. Another quipped, 'So in which form were you earlier?" while a third wrote, 'That's why they say education is important."
Others leaned into parody. 'How am I looking? I want to go and meet Naag ji," one user joked, imagining the snake admiring itself in the mirror.
The flood of comments underlines a cultural divide — between old beliefs passed down as oral lore, and younger audiences who meet such claims with irony and humour.

Kussh S Sinha blames Saiyaara wave for Sonakshi Sinha's Nikita Roy's box office failure, says Anupam Kher's Tanvi The Great film was pulled out of theatres: 'We tried to get more screens but...'

While Mohit Suri's Saiyaara took a bumper opening, the other two films failed to create any kind of buzz at the box office. read more Sonakshi Sinha's brother Kussh S Sinha, who made his directorial debut with Nikita Roy featuring his sister and Paresh Rawal, shared that his supernatural thriller failed at the box office of Saiyaara wave. For the unversed, three Bollywood films arrived together on 18th July - Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda starrer _Saiyaara_, Anupam Kher's Tanvi The Great and Nikita Roy. While Mohit Suri's directorial took a bumper opening, the other two films failed to create any kind of buzz at the box office. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'We tried to get more screens, but sometimes, some films are swept along by a wave. At the same time, whichever theatre chains we've spoken to, they've seen the merit in the film and they've held on to it. Three films were released on the same day, and while everybody knows that the film had a record-breaking performance, the other film was pulled back from theatres and our screens have increased by 40%–50%,' said Kussh in an interview with Dainik Bhaskar. He also responded to Saiyaara being accused of being a copy of a Korean movie, A Moment to Remember, and added, 'Nobody anticipated this wave, and box office results aren't in our hands. I'm happy that a romantic film starring two newcomers has done so well. There have been discussions, but that is for them to answer. It's up to them to clear their names. But I've always been clear that I want to tell original stories, and if I ever do a remake, it will be an official remake. Others might not share this point of view, and that's up to them.' Also starring Arjun Rampal and Suhail Nayyar in prominent roles, Nikita Roy turned out to be a box office disaster with a collection of below under Rs 1 crore.

Saiyaara box office: Ahaan Panday-Aneet Padda starrer crushes Vicky Kaushal-Rashmika Mandanna's Chhaava - here's how

Saiyaara is still going super strong in Nepal and is expected to rake in more moolah in the coming days read more Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda starrer Saiyaara, which has turned out to be a phenomenon at the Indian box office, has even surprised fans and experts with its blockbuster response in the international circuits. It has turned out to be the highest grosser of 2025 for Bollywood in Nepal with 6.62 Crore NPR gross (4.14 CR INR), beating Housefull 5 — 4.92 crore (3.1 cr INR), Sitare Zameen Par — 3.22 crore (2 cr INR) and even Chhaava — 2.20 crore (1.4 cr INR). STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD It is quite heartening to see a film featuring faces surpassing the business of franchise and big stars in a country due to its emotional storyline and music, which has struck a chord with the audience. _Saiyaara_ is still going super strong in Nepal and is expected to rake in more moolah in the coming days. Despite not going all out with the promotions, Saiyaara garnered unprecedented excitement among the cinegoers. Before the release of the movie, director Mohit Suri spoke about it and told Firstpost, 'I've been inside the studio for the last one month. I have no idea. And unlike the past when people travel from one studio to another, this is everything inhouse at YRF. So I haven't really gone out and met the world outside. Normally, when you are working on other films, you go out for the day; for sound, edit, and VFX. It was different different places. And just hearing it now, it does feel it does feel very redeeming and validating because when I started off this film, I was quite discouraged by a lot of senior people saying that nobody would be interested in a young love story. Because at that time, larger-than-life films were being made and I just thought that my voice would be lost there when everyone was shouting. So I just went and tried to make a film which is very different from what others were doing. And to me, the fact that people are appreciating that the difference that it's standing out means a lot.'
