Hype Malaysia3 days ago

It's the moment ARMYs all over the world have been waiting for! Ahead of BTS' (방탄소년단) anniversary celebration and the members' military discharge, 'We Are Back' signs have been spotted around Seoul, sparking excitement.
In the early morning of 9th June 2025 (Monday), fans noticed a change in the HYBE Label building in Seoul, South Korea. The building now sports a wrapping with the phrase 'We Are Back' and the official BTS and ARMY logos. Fans also spotted similar signage in other parts of the city. According to reports, the wrapping and fixtures are part of BTS' anniversary celebrations, BTS Festa.
Fans also believe the 'We Are Back' phrase is to celebrate the upcoming military discharge of members RM (알앰), V (뷔), Jimin (지민), Jungkook (정국) and Suga (슈가). The five members have been serving their mandatory military service since 2023. RM and V will be discharged on 10th June (Tuesday), while Jimin and Jungkook will be discharged on 11th June (Wednesday). Meanwhile, Suga will complete his service on 21st June (Saturday) as he enlisted as a public service worker.
With the five members' upcoming discharge, the whole of BTS would've completed their mandatory military service, marking the end of a two-year group hiatus. The public now looks forward to seeing BTS' long-awaited reunion and return to the entertainment industry. Previously, there were rumours that the group would release new music in 2025 and embark on a new tour in the coming year. Unfortunately, there are still no details on the group's comeback.
Meanwhile, the 2025 edition of BTS Festa has already kicked off with new content featuring members Jin (진) and J-Hope (제이홉). This year, the BTS Festa offline event takes place on 13th and 14th June at the Korea International Exhibition Centre (KINTEX) in Seoul. The event will feature more than 20 exhibition booths across two halls. Also taking place on the 13th and 14th is the finale of J-hope's 'Hope On The Stage' tour at Goyang Stadium.
Since BTS Festa 2025 takes place after RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook's discharge, fans hope the members will make a special appearance at the fan event. While there's no confirmation yet, we're sure the members have something up their sleeves for their beloved ARMYs. Are you ready for BTS' return?

Fans greet K-pop stars Jimin and Jung Kook of BTS upon discharge from military service

Jungkook (left) and Jimin of K-pop supergroup BTS holding bouquets of flowers at an outdoor sporting facility in Yeoncheon on June 11, 2025, shortly after their release from 18 months of South Korean military service. - AFP YEONCHEON, South Korea: Hundreds of fans gathered in the early morning hours to catch a glimpse of K-pop superstars Jimin and Jung Kook, the latest and final members of BTS to be discharged from South Korea's mandatory military service. The pair wore their military uniforms Wednesday (June 11), saluted and addressed fans who had assembled to see the pair after their discharge. Jung Kook thanked the journalists and fans who travelled to see him and Jimin after their discharge and acknowledged how different it was to be back in the spotlight. "Actually, it's been so long since I've been in front of cameras, and I didn't even put on makeup, so I'm a bit embarrassed,' he said. "I don't know what to say.' The pair enlisted in December 2023, one day after RM and V did the same. The latter were discharged on Tuesday. Fans waiting for the arrival of K-pop band BTS members Jimin and Jung Kook in Yeoncheon on June 11. - AP Supporters travelled from around the world to the public sports ground where the meet-and-greet took place. It was moved from the military base's gate for safety reasons. Colour-wrapped buses bearing BTS members' faces lined the streets while red and yellow balloons floated above and a decorated food truck provided free coffee and water, adding to the festive atmosphere. Many supporters wore masks, conscious of potential backlash after the band's label discouraged attendance citing safety concerns. Despite the challenges, fans like Anaesi from Portugal said the 20-hour journey to Yeoncheon, a town near the tense border with North Korea, was worth it. "Portugal is a small country, but inside of Portugal, BTS is a king,' she said. Anaesi, who discovered BTS on YouTube, said the group "saved' her from depression. "So for me BTS is my angel,' she said. She displayed a colourful upper arm tattoo featuring a golden shield emblazoned with "ARMY' and an eagle above it, complemented by Korean text listing BTS members' names and those of her friends. V thanked fans Tuesday for their patience in waiting for him and RM's return and teased the band's reunion. "If you can just wait a little bit longer, we will return with a really amazing performance.' Fans reacting after catching sight of BTS band members Jimin and Jung Kook as they were discharged in Yeoncheon on June 11, 2025. - AP The seven singers of the popular K-pop band plan to reunite as a group sometime in 2025 after they finish their service. Six of the group's seven members served in the army, while Suga is fulfilling his duty as a social service agent, an alternative form of military service. He will be discharged later this month. Jin, the oldest BTS member, was discharged in June 2024. J-Hope was discharged in October. In South Korea, all able-bodied men aged between 18 and 28 are required by law to perform 18-21 months of military service under a conscription system meant to deter aggression from rival North Korea. The law gives special exemptions to athletes, classical and traditional musicians, and ballet and other dancers if they have obtained top prizes in certain competitions and are assessed to have enhanced national prestige. K-pop stars and other entertainers aren't subject to such privileges. However, in 2020, BTS postponed their service until age 30 after South Korea's National Assembly revised its Military Service Act, allowing K-pop stars to delay their enlistment until age 30. There was heated public debate in 2022 over whether to offer special exemptions of mandatory military service for BTS members, until the group's management agency announced in October 2022 that all seven members would fulfill their duties. - AP

(Video) BTS Leader RM Shares His Mental Health Struggles & Challenges During Military Service

ARMYs (아미) rejoiced on 10th June (Tuesday) as BTS (방탄소년단) leader RM (랩몬스터) and member V (뷔) completed their 18-month military service. Their return marks a significant milestone in BTS's long-anticipated comeback, sparking widespread excitement and heartfelt celebrations across the global fandom. However, alongside the joy, concerns quickly emerged following reports of the hardships RM faced during his enlistment. Allegations of mistreatment have ignited outrage among fans. Many are now demanding accountability and stronger protections for public figures fulfilling their national duty. It isn't unusual for Korean men fulfilling their mandatory military service to share negative experiences. Over the years, public perception of conscription has grown increasingly controversial, from the lingering physical and mental toll it takes to the belief that it's a waste of time for young men in critical stages of their careers. Kim Nam-joon (김남준), also known as RM, began his military service on 11th December 2023. After completing five weeks of basic training at the Korea Army Training Centre in Nonsan, South Chungcheong Province, he was assigned to the 15th Infantry Division's military band unit. Upon his return, fans gathered in support, celebrating his safe discharge and the successful end of his nearly two-year commitment. The rapper held a solo live stream to openly discuss his military experience and the challenges he faced with HYBE during that time. He revealed that after releasing his solo album 'RPWP', he began suffering from insomnia. Being surrounded by what felt like 20 other soldiers made it nearly impossible for him to get proper rest. 'I mean, there were a lot of things happening outside the base. I remember thinking to myself, 'Oh, I'm going to die at this rate.' Like, I have to keep going with the daily schedule, but I'm running on no sleep,' he added. At one point, he went two days without sleep, which led to self-critical thoughts about his own 'weakness' and sensitivity. 'While in the military, I kept asking myself, 'Why are you so weak? Is this all you got? You've been through more challenging times already. So why… Why do you keep losing to things like sleep… Or the military…? You have to do better,' he stated, noting it was a recurring thought he had throughout his service. ARMYs have voiced their frustration at the toll this experience took on RM's mental health. Many pointed out that if it were anyone else, the government might have intervened sooner, or at the very least, shown greater care, especially considering the pressure placed on high-profile figures like RM. The lasting effects could impact his ability to perform regularly, as he may now need to prioritise rest and recovery. This isn't the first time an idol's mental health has suffered during military service, which only adds to the growing disappointment over the military's lack of concern for the well-being of its soldiers. Fans, however, remain steadfast in their support, relieved that RM has completed his service and now has the space to focus fully on healing. (Video) From Video Game Scams To Acting Career: 5 Things We Learned From BTS Jin's Lie Detector Test

BTS member Jin (진) is known for his joyful personality, so it's rare to see him nervous, but that's exactly how he felt during his appearance on Vanity Fair's Lie Detector Test on YouTube. Like many stars before him, he was asked a series of questions to answer truthfully. If any physiological changes were detected, the polygraph would indicate that he might not be telling the truth. Fans said they felt nervous for him, too, but were equally entertained by the content. That said, we also learned quite a few things about the idol. Here are some of our favourite moments from the episode: 1. He was scammed by video game sellers Jin considers himself someone who isn't easily fooled. However, when it comes to video games, he admits he can be swayed by an enticing offer. The singer revealed that he had been scammed by sellers who promised valuable in-game items, but sadly took his money and left him empty-handed. 2. He misses Jungkook the most out of all his members As the segment was filmed some time ago, the interviewer asked Jin which of his BTS bandmates, who were still completing their military service at the time, he missed the most. Initially, he replied that he missed all of them, but when the machine detected deception, he admitted he missed the maknae, Jungkook, the most. 3. He thinks his single 'Super Tuna' is cheesy Making music is all about having fun, so there's absolutely nothing wrong with an artist releasing a silly song every now and then. Jin released 'Super Tuna' back in 2024 and admitted he finds the song cheesy, so much so that he hoped people wouldn't take it too seriously. In fact, he even asked fans not to start a dance challenge to the single. 4. He has no desire to become an actor Despite holding a degree in acting, Jin has no desire to pursue a career in it. However, the polygraph detected deception, though the idol insisted he was telling the truth, even if offered a role in a Bong Joon Ho (봉준호) film. He went on to explain that the reason he doesn't want to become an actor is that it requires a great deal of effort and feels like an intimidating challenge to take on. Still, fans remain hopeful that they'd get to see Jin show off his acting chops one day. 5. He hasn't replied to his friends' messages It's not particularly surprising when an idol hasn't had much time to reply to messages from friends and family. However, Jin admitted he still hasn't responded to his friends back home, as he feels the conversations don't offer him anything meaningful. When asked to elaborate, he explained that they mainly talk about video games he doesn't play, so he has nothing to contribute to the discussion. It's important to note that this particular lie detector test isn't entirely reliable, as the examinee can influence the results by controlling their physiological responses. That said, when the examinee is under significant stress, the results may also be inaccurate, so it's best not to take Jin's answers too seriously.
