Falcons legend to announce team's picks on Day 2 of 2025 NFL draft
The Atlanta Falcons are preparing for their fifth draft under general Terry Fontenot, which kicks off one week from today in Green Bay, Wisconsin. On Day 2 of the draft, each team will have a current or former player announce their pick.
ESPN's Adam Schefter announced which players will be making the Day 2 selections for each team.The Falcons will call upon former first-round pick Keith Brooking to announce their second-round selection in the 2025 NFL draft.
Brooking, the former Georgia Tech standout, was taken by Atlanta with the 12th overall pick in the 1998 draft. Over 15 NFL seasons -- 11 with the Falcons -- the five-time Pro Bowl linebacker racked up 1,103 solo tackles, 22 sacks and 13 interceptions while appearing in 225 career games (193 starts).
Since the team doesn't have a third-round pick, Brooking can call it a night after Atlanta makes pick No. 46 overall in Round 2. Last year, the Falcons traded up in the second round to acquire Ruke Orhorhoro. The former Clemson defensive lineman played sparingly as a rookie but his role should increase in 2025.
The 2025 NFL draft kicks off on Thursday, April 24 at Lambeau Field. Round 1 begins at 8 p.m. ET.

No more chains: NFL debuts new virtual measurement at Hall of Fame Game
NFL games will look slightly different this season, and fans got their first glimpse at the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday. The NFL announced in April it will begin using Sony's Hawk-Eye technology as the primary way to measure the line to gain, rather than the chain system that has been in place for decades. Much like its usage in baseball and tennis, the technology uses six 8K cameras to judge the ball's position on the field. The call was not close: The NFL hailed the new technology as a more efficient method than the chains: "Sony's Hawk-Eye virtual measurement technology will serve as an efficient alternative to the process of walking chains onto the field and manually measuring whether 10 yards have been met after the official has spotted the ball. The chain crew will remain on the field in a secondary capacity." While the league initially announced it would keep a traditional chain crew in reserve for games, referee Shawn Smith told reporters on Thursday there would be no chains between down markers for the Hall of Fame game. The replacement of chains with cameras is unlikely to improve the accuracy of these calls, as the spotting of the ball by officials has always been the bigger issue when trying to figure out if a runner got enough distance for a first down. The chains were actually pretty good at telling officials how long 10 yards is. Rather, the virtual measurements are intended to save time, with decisions reached in seconds rather than making everyone wait for the officials to drag the chain out to midfield. We'll see how much fans notice as the regular season begins, with the opener scheduled for Sept. 4.

Latest Madden ratings prove Iowa football is TEU

Schools like Miami, Notre Dame, and even Nebraska have tried to lay claim to that prestigious title. But for anyone who follows the game of college football and the NFL, there's only one real answer to who is TEU: the Iowa Hawkeyes. And they just got some extra proof from an unlikely source. Madden released their top ten ratings for every single position in Madden 26 on Thursday. And Hawkeye fans will have a blast looking at the tight end ratings, which bode very well for Iowa's stake to the TEU moniker. To no one's surprise, former Hawkeye and current San Francisco 49er George Kittle is the highest-rated tight end in the game this year, at an astounding 98 overall. He's five overalls higher than the second-highest rated tight end, Travis Kelce, who's a 93 overall. Kittle has had an incredible career since being drafted in the fifth round in 2017 and is very deserving of being the highest-rated tight end in the game. Two more former Hawkeyes join Kittle on Madden's top ten tight ends in the game list. T.J. Hockenson of the Minnesota Vikings is seventh at an 88 overall, and Sam LaPorta of the Detroit Lions is ninth at an 86 overall. Both of those young NFC North tight ends have had great NFL careers already and should continue to get better as their careers progress. Iowa is the only school to have more than one tight end on this list, which is a great feat for the Hawkeyes and a further reason why Iowa is TEU. They put great tight ends into the NFL yearly and have a great pipeline going all the way back to Dallas Clark. And the Madden ratings only further prove the fact that all Hawkeye fans already know: Iowa is the one and only TEU.
