India sees achievements in many fronts under Modi rule: Shivamogga MP Raghavendra
Shivamogga MP B.Y. Raghavendra on Sunday said the Narendra Modi-led Central government has completed 11 years with significant achievements in many fields.
In a press conference, Mr. Raghavendra said that under the effective leadership of Mr. Modi, the country had been marching towards development and would become Vishwaguru. It saw significant improvement on many fronts, including infrastructure facilities.
In the last 11 years, Mr. Modi introduced Digital India and Ayushman Bharat, and because of his vision, the defence sector in the country had become self-reliant, he said.
By launching Kissan Samman, the Prime Minister helped the farming sector. He worked for the welfare of women of the minority community by abolishing triple talaq. The abrogation of Article 370 and the amendment of the Waqf Act were among some of the government's biggest achievements, Mr. Raghavendra said.
Answering a question on the facility for landing aircraft at night at the Shivamogga Airport, Mr. Raghavendra said that the work was in the final stages.
Legislators S.N. Channabasappa, Dhananjay Sarji, D.S. Arun, district BJP president N.K. Jagadish and others were present.

Bathinda: A two-time former minister in the SAD-BJP govt, Sikandar Singh Maluka, has rejoined the Shiromani Akali Dal . Maluka had earlier joined the Akali Dal Sudhar Lehar, which had formed by dissidents displeased with party president Sukhbir Singh Badal. After rejoining the party, Maluka said he would campaign for the party candidate in the Ludhiana West byelection. Maluka's daughter-in-law, Parampal Kaur Sidhu, contested the 2024 parliamentary elections from Bathinda as a BJP nominee against SAD's Harsimrat Kaur Badal. Maluka, who was elected the MLA from Rampura Phul in 1997 and 2012, was displeased when his request to be fielded from Maur seat for the 2022 assembly polls was not accepted. Speaking to TOI on Saturday, Maluka said, "I have done ghar vapsi (returned home), and now whatever duty the party assigns, I will discharge it with full devotion, including campaigning for the party candidate in Ludhiana West." Maluka was elevated to the minister's rank in the Parkash Singh Badal govt in 1997, despite being a first-time MLA. He was again made a minister in 2012 in the Badal cabinet. PM Modi to begin 3-nation tour from Cyprus today
File photo: PM Modi (Photo: ANI) NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi will travel to Cyprus on Sunday for the first leg of his three-nation tour that will see him participating in the G7 Summit in Canada and also visiting Croatia on his way back. Modi is also expected to have several bilateral meetings on the margins of the summit in Kananaskis. While the PM will have a meeting with his Canadian counterpart Mark Carney, his other bilateral engagements are still being worked out, official sources said. Modi will also come face to face with US President Donald Trump for the first time since their meeting in Feb. The ministry of external affairs said in a statement that the visit to Cyprus - the first by an Indian PM since AB Vajpayee visited the country in 2002 - will reaffirm the shared commitment of the two countries to deepen bilateral ties and strengthen India's engagement with the Mediterranean region and the European Union. The visit to Cyprus is significant also as it comes in the middle of India's tensions with Turkiye over the latter's support to Pakistan. Ankara's recognition of the so-called Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the northern region that was seized by Turkish forces in 1974 and differences over gas exploration rights in the Eastern Mediterranean remain a constant source of tensions between Turkiye and Cyprus. TMC warns Anubrata Mondal, Kajal Sheikh against ‘infighting' ahead of 2026 Assembly elections
The Top leaders of the Trinamool Congress, including party state president Subrata Bakshi, met Anubrata Mondal and his party rival Kajal Sheikh on Saturday ahead of the July 21 Martyrs' Day preparation meeting. The meeting, which took place at the party's Bhabanipur office, was also attended by Kolkata Mayor and state minister Firhad Hakim and state Sports Minister Aroop Biswas. According to party sources, both Mondal and Sheikh were told that no 'infighting' would be tolerated ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. They were instructed to refrain from making public statements against each other. If repeated, the party warned, strict disciplinary action would follow. Mondal, in particular, was advised to maintain composure and avoid provocative behavior, the sources said. The closed-door meeting came weeks after a purported audio clip surfaced in which Mondal was allegedly heard using abusive language during a phone call with a police inspector. The Birbhum district police have since registered an FIR against Mondal. After the meeting, neither Mondal nor Sheikh made any public comments. Senior leaders such as Bakshi and Hakim also chose not to brief the media. However, a senior TMC leader claimed, 'Whenever Anubrata and Kajal speak publicly, controversy follows. The party likely told them to stay silent at least until the Assembly elections to avoid further issues.'
