Israeli Energy Minister decides to cut off electricity to Gaza Strip

Israel has moved to cut off electricity to Gaza after preventing the entry of aid, coinciding with ongoing negotiations on completing the ceasefire agreement.
The Israeli website 'i24' said that the decision, signed by Israeli Minister of Energy, Eli Cohen, states: 'By virtue of my powers under Article 7 (d) of the license granted to the Electricity Company on 9/4/1997, I issue an order to the Electricity Company to stop selling electricity to Gaza Strip.'
According to i24, Cohen did not mention when the electricity would be cut off, but the Israeli website considered that the wording indicates that the step is immediate and without a deadline thus far.
Minister Cohen's move comes against the backdrop of reports regarding progress in the negotiations on the ceasefire prisoner swap deal, as the security cabinet met on Sunday to discuss the mandate that the team that will travel to Qatar's capital, Doha will receive.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Sunday that an Israeli negotiating delegation will leave on Monday, for Doha to discuss the developments.
Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, is scheduled to arrive in the Qatari capital on Tuesday.
The Gaza Electricity Company on Saturday explained that the power outage has resulted in a serious decline in various vital sectors, particularly health.

Netanyahu Outlines Conditions for Ending Gaza War

Ahmed Emam Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has laid out his government's conditions for ending the war in the Gaza Strip, according to a statement released by his office. The statement said the conditions include the complete disarmament of Hamas as well as the removal of all weapons from Gaza. Netanyahu's office described these steps as 'fundamental pillars' for achieving what he termed security and stability in the region. The proposed conditions also call for Israel to maintain control over Gaza's perimeter, ensuring continued Israeli security oversight. In addition, Netanyahu's office outlined a plan for a governing authority to be established inside Gaza—one that would not be affiliated with either Hamas or the Palestinian Authority. The remarks signal a vision for a new administrative structure in the enclave once the war ends. The announcement comes amid ongoing international discussions over ceasefire efforts and the future of Gaza's governance once hostilities subside. read more Gold prices rise, 21 Karat at EGP 3685 NATO's Role in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict US Expresses 'Strong Opposition' to New Turkish Military Operation in Syria Shoukry Meets Director-General of FAO Lavrov: confrontation bet. nuclear powers must be avoided News Iran Summons French Ambassador over Foreign Minister Remarks News Aboul Gheit Condemns Israeli Escalation in West Bank News Greek PM: Athens Plays Key Role in Improving Energy Security in Region News One Person Injured in Explosion at Ukrainian Embassy in Madrid Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated

Egypt's Population Reaches 108 Million: CAPMAS

Taarek Refaat Egypt's domestic population has officially surpassed 108 million, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS). The figure, announced Saturday, reflects an increase of one million people since November 2, 2024, when the population stood at 107 million. CAPMAS noted that the new million was added in 287 days, or nine months and 17 days, compared to 268 days for the previous million and 250 days for the million before that, indicating a gradual slowdown in the pace of population growth. The agency attributed the trend to a decline in daily birth averages. During the most recent period, Egypt recorded about 5,165 births per day, down from 5,385 in the preceding million increase, and 5,599 in the million before that. Between November 2024 and mid-August 2025, Egypt registered 1.482 million births, the equivalent of 215 births per hour, or 3.6 births per minute, meaning one new child is born every 16.7 seconds. The announcement comes amid government efforts to address population growth, which officials have long described as a central challenge to Egypt's development goals. Earlier this month, CAPMAS also reported that the country's unemployment rate dropped to 6.1% in the second quarter of 2025, suggesting a gradual improvement in labor market dynamics despite persistent demographic pressures. read more CBE: Deposits in Local Currency Hit EGP 5.25 Trillion Morocco Plans to Spend $1 Billion to Mitigate Drought Effect Gov't Approves Final Version of State Ownership Policy Document Egypt's Economy Expected to Grow 5% by the end of 2022/23- Minister Qatar Agrees to Supply Germany with LNG for 15 Years Business Oil Prices Descend amid Anticipation of Additional US Strategic Petroleum Reserves Business Suez Canal Records $704 Million, Historically Highest Monthly Revenue Business Egypt's Stock Exchange Earns EGP 4.9 Billion on Tuesday Business Wheat delivery season commences on April 15 Videos & Features Story behind Trending Jessica Radcliffe Death Video News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt News The Jessica Radcliffe Orca Attack? 100% Fake and AI-Generated
