In series two of ITV's detective drama, Ridley, Adrian Dunbar returns to the title role to solve more crimes in the north of England.
The retired detective turned police consultant resumes his partnership with former protégée, DI Carol Farman, played by Bronagh Waugh (The Suspect, Unforgotten, The Fall), who is now in charge of investigations. Ridley is written and created by award-winning writer Paul Matthew Thompson, one of the lead writers of ITV's iconic detective drama, Vera, and co-created by Jonathan Fisher (Blood, Hollington Drive, Penance), Managing Director of West Road Pictures. Also this series Julia Gilbert (Midsomer Murders) and Michael Bhim (Vera) have each written an episode.
The original team will all return for the four-part second series, filmed across the North of England; Terence Maynard (Time, Coronation Street) as DCI Paul Goodwin, George Bukhari (Years and Years, The A Word) as DC Darren Lakhan, Georgie Glen (The Crown, Call the Midwife) as pathologist Dr Wendy Newstone. The regular cast also includes Bhavna Limbachia (Citizen Khan, Coronation Street) as Geri and Julie Graham (Shetland, Penance) as Annie. And John Michie joins the cast as Harry Bentham, a likeable and debonair self-made member of the jewellery trade who Ridley vies with for Annie's attention…
In the first episode, Ridley starts to investigate when a jewellery heist turns violent, and the thieves take off with their stolen loot. After an interested party is killed in broad daylight, Ridley and Carol have a race against time to discover the identity of the criminal mastermind behind the whole operation. Will the team be able to bring them to justice before more blood is spilled? Guest stars in episode one includes John Henshaw (The Long Shadow) and Christine Bottomley (Domina).
Ridley was commissioned for ITV by Head of Drama, Polly Hill, with Drama Commissioner, Huw Kennair Jones overseeing production of the drama from the channel's perspective. Denise Welch appears to be in tears during emotional chat with son Matty Healy

Denise Welch has been pictured apparently crying while sharing an emotional conversation with her son, rockstar Matty Healy. The Loose Women panelist, 67, joined Matty, 36, on the sidewalk outside of a Los Angeles restaurant where he'd shared a meal with fiancée Gabriella Bechtel. Matty and musician, actress, and model Gabriella Bechtel – known professionally as Gabbriette – first became linked in September 2023. After being spotted together in September that year, they later confirmed their romance and were engaged by June 2024. While former Coronation Street star Denise was less than complimentary about Matty's ex – pop sensation Taylor Swift – she's previously described Gabriella as 'everything I would want in a daughter in law.' In images taken as the trio shared a meal together in Los Angeles, mum Denise took a moment for what seemed to be an emotional conversation with The 1975 frontman Matty. In the images, Matty joined his mother outside the restaurant where they had been dining with Gabbriette, 28. As Matty lights up a cigarette, it looks as though Denise begins crying. Denise wore a light blue blazer over a white t-shirt with stripes, and rolled up blue trousers with a pair of chunky wedge shoes. Matty, meanwhile, wore a pair of grey-tinged jeans and a dark sweater. Other pictures from the evening showed Matty and Gabbriette as they left the restaurant together, with Matty covering his thick head of hair with a baseball cap. In these images, Gabbriette wore a short-sleeved black top with dark coloured jeans and a pair of knee-high boots. They made their way hand-in-hand down the stairs, apparently laughing and joking as they made their exit. In a separate image, Denise can also be seen leaving the building, looking serious as she's helped down the steep steps. Prior to his relationship with Gabbriette , Matty dated Tortured Poets Department songstress Taylor Swift. Matty and Taylor reportedly dated for one month in 2023 before things 'fizzled out' and they ended their breakup. When asked about her son's relationship with the Cruel Summer hitmaker, on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Denise joked: 'Obviously, on pain of death can I talk about that episode.' She then added: 'But being her mother-in-law is a role that I am glad that I lost.' 'Not that I have anything against her at all,' she clarified, 'It was just—it was tricky.' More Trending She added: 'Listen, you're not allowed to say anything, and then she writes a whole album about it.' By contrast, she opened up about her son's engagement on an episode of Loose Women earlier this year, saying of Gabbriette: 'We couldn't be happier. She is everything I would want in a daughter in law.' Gabbriette herself confirmed rumours of their engagement with a post to Instagram, sharing a snap of herself wielding a chunky great engagement ring while at a Charli XCX concert in New York City. She captioned the post: 'MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT.' Got a story? Ex-Premier League ace signs deal for I'm A Celeb All Stars 11 years after being first star kicked off show

FORMER Premier League ace Jimmy Bullard is to appear on I'm A Celebrity All Stars. The ex-Fulham midfielder, 46, who later hosted Sky's Soccer AM, has negotiated a deal to take part in the Ant and Dec-hosted ITV series. 1 Former Premier League ace Jimmy Bullard is to appear on I'm A Celebrity All Stars It comes after the Sun on Sunday previously revealed Harry Redknapp, former West Ham manager, where Bullard played in the youth team, has also signed up. Jimmy, famous for his catchphrase 'Football's always the winner', originally took part in I'm A Celeb back in 2014 and had a lads' 'bromance' with eventual winner Racing superbike champ Carl Fogarty, 60. A source said: 'Jimmy had a brilliant time in the original series he took part in and it really opened the door to his broadcasting career. 'He was voted off first last time and he felt he had a lot more to give. "Now he's got the chance to get stuck in again, although he's a bit older so he is worried he might find it harder to rough it. 'His banter is still on top form though. Producers are hopeful he'll have a bromance with Harry Redknapp, who is also taking part.' All Stars will be filmed this autumn in South Africa and be screened in the New Year - after the main version of the I'm A Celebrity show in Australia goes out in November and December. Other celebs taking part in the All Stars version include Strictly love rat Seann Walsh, 39, and Towie star Gemma Collins, 44, who lasted only three days in 2014. All Stars last aired in 2023 when singer Myleene Klass won and it was filmed in South Africa's Kruger National Park. ITV declined to comment.

Helen Flanagan reveals the sad reason she is selling her £1million family home as she addresses 'broke' claims

Helen Flanagan has opened up on the reason she is selling her £1million family home following her split from her ex Scott Sinclair. The Coronation Street star, 34, split from her footballer ex-fiance back in 2022, and they share three children - Matilda, nine, Delilah, six, and Charlie, three - together. Earlier this year, Helen told in court how she was 'struggling financially' before being banned from driving for six months after being caught speeding. Now, Helen has set the record straight about her finances as she shared the sad reason why she has decided to sell her eight-bedroom £1million Cheshire mansion. 'I'm not in a financial crisis. I'm moving because I really need a fresh start,' she told OK! Magazine. 'Scott surprised me with this house and it was always supposed to be our happy family home, and it wasn't that. 'I like to be light-hearted and I hate to sound depressing, but there is a sadness in this house.' The former soap star admitted it had been 'a turbulent three years' and that she wanted to start fresh with her children. Helen hopes to move to London eventually, but for now, they are planning to stay where they are to avoid disrupting her kids' education. The soap star admitted that she will struggle to downsize from her lavish eight-bedroom house. Speaking on The Declutter Hub podcast with Ingrid Jansen and Lesley Spellman, she insisted she was 'down to earth' but that moving would be hard. I put loads of my savings into making it look really beautiful. It's eight bedrooms which is hard to keep on top of - it's a lot,' she shared. 'When we move I will struggle to downsize - I don't want to not sounds down to earth. Bu it will feel weird. It will be more manageable for me.' Helen split from Scott after 13 years together and then moved on with construction worker Robbie, 45, but they split in May and she now wants to be single. Speaking to The Mirror earlier this week, she explained: 'I'm concentrating on the kids, work, moving house and being with my friends. 'I'm quite sensitive and struggle with dating. There's always something with men. Now I want to be single a bit. 'Robbie was very sweet and kind. He was older than me and cared about me. 'Sometimes relationships just don't work long term.' Helen went on to admit that after Robbie's daughter Carina and her daughter Delilah became 'close', she will be hesitant to introduce her children to anyone in the future. Speaking on the Daily Mail's The Life of Bryony podcast in March, just weeks before their split, Helen gushed over her relationship with Robbie. She said: 'He's lovely. Everybody loves him. I just met him at a bar. I literally, I just, I could not stop laughing at this guy.' 'My boyfriend's actually the funniest guy I've ever met. He's got two kids and he's, he's really beautiful with my children.' 'I think that's what made me fall more in love with him because he's so good with my mental health things and that's the main thing for me that I need.' 'I need someone that's good for me mentally and emotionally, that's my top thing and that's what I've realised.' 'No disrespect to the father of my children, I'll always have that love for him, but he didn't know how to cope with me or didn't know how to do that, and not everybody does, but because the man that I'm with now really knows how to do that, it makes me happy.'
