Flames GM Addresses Growing Speculation About Rasmus Andersson
Speculation around Rasmus Andersson's future with the Calgary Flames has become one of the most tangled stories of the offseason as the defenseman enters his final season under contract.

Multiple insiders have reported conflicting details regarding Andresson's impending exit from the Flames, but general manager Craig Conroy has remained firm in saying that the defenseman is happy in Calgary.
"Right now, he's totally fine with playing for the Calgary Flames. That was the last conversation. And he's always said that he's a Calgary Flame," Conroy said. "When he comes back in September, he'll say the same thing to you guys, 'I love it here, l'm a Calgary Flame.'"
"It's all the speculation. And hey, everybody has a job, everybody has to do it, but until something is done, nothing is done. You have seen guys that maybe you think weren't going to re-sign with their team, and they did re-sign with their team. It happens."

TSN's Darren Dreger reported on Thursday that the Flames received a significant offer from the Los Angeles Kings that 'would blow your socks off.' Despite the offer, Andersson allegedly declined to waive his no-trade protection.
In a previous report, Dreger had linked Ottawa, Columbus, Vegas, and Dallas to ongoing interest in the 27-year-old. He labeled the situation as a "spicy" one.
Meanwhile, insider Frank Seravalli reported that Dallas, Vegas, and Los Angeles could pursue Andersson if they manage to move salary. He also called Andersson 'the best trade chip available right now, or before the trade deadline.'

TSN's Chris Johnston offered a separate scenario involving a potential swap between Calgary and Buffalo, where the Flames would acquire Bowen Byram if they submit an offer sheet for the blueliner.

As of now, no deal has materialized, and Andersson remains under contract for next season, the last of his six-year, $27.3 million deal with Calgary. He played 81 regular-season games last year, scoring 31 points, including 11 goals.

Projecting Red Wings' Forward Lines For The 2025-26 Season
Early line projections come out for Detroit Red Wings 2025-26 offence. As the Detroit Red Wings prepare for the next NHL season, the buzz around their projected lineup has started to commence with fans wondering what they can expect to see from the 2025-26 team. Advertisement It's very early to say what the coaching staff decide to roll out with but Daily Faceoff has started their early predictions for the Red Wings lineup and it appears to have some accurate aspects to it. We look to break down the projected top 12 forwards and how likely it is for the lines to come into fruition come opening night. With the help of MoneyPuck, we'll be looking at some numbers available for the lines past performance and how successful they were. More Red Wings: Projecting Red Wings' Defensive Pairings For The 2025-26 Season 1st Line: James van Riemsdyk - Dylan Larkin - Lucas Raymond There was never any doubt that we would see the dynamic duo of Larkin and Raymond on the top line but the team's newest addition in veteran James van Riemsdyk is a surprising sight. Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman spoke to the versatility of van Riemsdyk's potential role with the team and that he could see minutes anywhere from the top line to the third with some also on the power play. The 36-year-old New Jersey native has found middle-six consistency in old age with 36 or more points in all but one of his last nine seasons. He is an elite netfront presence as uses his large frame at 6-foot-3 almost 210 pounds to carve out a spot in front of the net and impose his will upon opposing defenders. Last season, van Riemsdyk scored 16 goals with all but two of them coming from the slot. Advertisement This is a trend for van Riemsdyk as 33 of his 39 of his goals over the last three seasons have come from the netfront and could give Larkin and Raymond a chance to dish the puck around the zone with the help of the blueline while JVR applies screens and tries to tip in pucks. More Red Wings: Red Wings Sign Former First Round Pick to One-Year Deal 2nd Line: Alex DeBrincat - Marco Kasper - Patrick Kane Detroit's second line trio was the most effective last season with a team-best plus/minus as a unit at +4 on the season after playing 192.2 minutes together over 30 games. Kasper's 14 points over his final 18 games was noted by many including Yzerman, who said that the team would like to see him continue and prolong his stellar play into this upcoming season. Advertisement The Red Wings elite top line with Larkin and Raymond normally garner all the league's toughest defenders while the second line can hopefully excel and put up more solid numbers with more time together this season. Bookmark The Hockey News Detroit Red Wings team site to stay connected to the latest news, game-day coverage, and player features. 3rd Line: Elmer Soderblom - J.T. Compher - Jonatan Berggren Two recent re-signings for the franchise will be featured alongside Compher, who is looking to bounce back after a lackluster season. The veteran centre finished with 32 points last season and was a disappointment after recording 48 and 52 points in the two seasons prior. Advertisement Compher will have the chance to help two newcomers find their footing with a 6-foot-8 giant in Soderblom and a former second round pick in Berggren. Both players are looking to carve out a role for themselves and could learn from the newcomers joining the team. Soderblom could look to better utilize his large frame with the help of van Riemsdyk and Mason Appleton while Berggren and Compher move the puck and make plays around the netfront. Not too many teams have gone against Soderblom before and with his mystery box upside as an everyday player, there's no telling what this line could be. 4th Line: Michael Rasmussen - Andrew Copp - Mason Appleton Appleton is coming from a system where he excelled playing alongside a physical player like Jets captain Adam Lowry and he should find some chemistry with a player like Rasmussen on his opposite wing. Advertisement The fourth line would likely be used as a physical, forechecking unit that can lay the body and keep opposing forward groups in check. Rasmussen is a towering 6-foot-6 and could help with the forecheck while Copp tries to bring some level of offence down the middle as a regular 30-40 point producer. Golden Knights Development Camp Day Spotlight: Trent Swick
Day 2 of the Vegas Golden Knights Development Camp was in full swing, and the young prospects took to the ice more confident after having acclimated the day before. Among the standouts was camp returner Trent Swick, who made a strong impression with his hustle. Swick, 21, is a left-winger towering at 6-foot-7, from St. Catharines, Ontario, and was selected by the Knights in the sixth round (180th overall) of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. As of March 1, 2025, the team officially signed him to a three-year, entry-level contract. Vegas Golden Knights Sign Towering Prospect Vegas Golden Knights Sign Towering Prospect Earlier this month, the Advertisement Vegas Golden Knights announced the signing of Kitchener Rangers' forward Trent Swick to a three-year, entry-level contract for the 2025-26 season. Coming off finishing his fourth season with the Kitchener Rangers as an alternate captain, Swick put up a total of 61 points (27 goals, 34 assists) with a +11 rating in the regular season. He put up an additional 14 points (7 goals, 7 assists) in the postseason. 'I'm a completely different player now,' Swick said about his past two years of development. 'I didn't really believe in myself before, and now I do. I also pretty much put on probably 25% of my mass from two years ago. I just need to learn how to move with that mass and be able to be quick with it.' At the heart of Swick's game is his ability to create plays. He finds soft spots in coverage, constantly surveys the ice, and delivers quick, accurate passes to teammates in scoring positions. He's good at drawing defenders in and pulling the puck close to his feet before adjusting to the lane. Improvement is evident in the young forward, and he has a bright future with the organization.

NHL Insider Reveals Big Update on Stars' Jason Robertson Situation
NHL Insider Reveals Big Update on Stars' Jason Robertson Situation originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Dallas Stars entered the offseason looking to build the team even stronger following another loss in the Western Conference Final. Dallas has a solid core in place but they just haven't been able to get over the hump. Advertisement This could cause the front office to make some drastic changes, potentially even to some key players. One of those is star Jason Robertson, who has been rumored to be on the trade block this summer. Dallas likely doesn't want to lose Robertson, but the team does have to make a decision on giving him a new contract. Robertson has one more year on his current deal before he hits restricted free agency. The Star may not want to pay Robertson what he believes he is worth, leading to potential trade rumors. And it seems that one team may be the leader to land him if he is traded. According to NHL insider Jeff Marek, the Anaheim Ducks have emerged as a potential landing spot for Robertson if he leaves Dallas. Robertson and the Stars have been discussing a new deal, but it seems that talks could go off the rails. Advertisement "I don't think Dallas Stars are going to let the Jason Robertson question linger deep into the summer; they're going to find out pretty quick what number he's looking at; I think Dallas will have an idea in pretty early July; I see Ducks as a destination," Marek said. For the Ducks, landing Robertson would be a massive addition to a young team. Anaheim has been building things back up, and Robertson could be the missing piece to the puzzle. Dallas Stars left wing Jason Robertson (21) during the third period in game five of the Western Conference Final of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs at American Airlines Center. Jerome Miron-Imagn Images Robertson scored 35 goals and 45 assists for the Stars this past season. His ability to do everything on the ice is special, and Anaheim would surely try to land him if made available. Advertisement The Ducks have some interesting young prospects that could intrigue the Stars as well, making them a solid trade partner. It remains to be seen if Dallas will trade Robertson, but it feels like things will be falling into place sooner rather than later.
