Sana takes confidence from upbeat start ahead of West Indies Qualifier clash
Speaking after Pakistan's comprehensive win against Scotland, skipper Fatima Sana discussed the areas where her side will look to work on ahead of the all-important West Indies clash.
'We'll try to be calm and easy in [batting] partnerships because in situations like these teams tend to buckle down under pressure. We'll cope with it better and will keep working on it, as the future games will bring greater pressure and intensity,' she said.
The hosts' in-form run in the tournament has seen them excel with the bat and ball. They beat Ireland in their first encounter by 38 runs and then defeated Scotland by six wickets.
Perhaps the biggest positive out of these wins was that they were team results, with several squad members contributing.
These included likes of Muneeba Ali and Aliya Riaz who excelled with the willow in the recent encounter, and Fatima who brought crucial breakthroughs at the LCCA in their win yesterday. Similarly, Diana Baig, Riaz, Nashra Sandu, and Sidra Amin starred in the first game against Ireland.

Pakistan stumbled in the middle of the contest, but came back strong to overcome Ireland in their ICC Women's Cricket World Cup Qualifier 2025 opener.
The skipper was pleased with her side's efforts, 'This is a good thing for the team, we'll get a boost. When you win the team gets more confidence and with the big matches coming, we'll try harder.'

While India would have loved to have had Bumrah at their disposal for the series finale, assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate suggested the long-term future of the No.1 ranked Test bowler was more important than any single Test match. "Every time I've answered this question I've spoken about like putting the pieces of the puzzles together and guys were baffled when we didn't play him in the third Test, and our thinking yeah was that The Oval, yes it's got bounce but it's normally a fairly good wicket for batting on, and we thought we'd roll the dice and if we'd won the toss we would have bowled," he added. "In hindsight you would have loved to have him here, but you would also have said if we come here 3-1 down that we didn't use him there, so it's trying to not guess but trying to look into the future and then see how we can manage him, and maybe England have got it spot on leaving the best bowling wicket for the last Test after he's played three." India battled hard on the opening day of the fifth Test despite the absence of Bumrah among four changes to the side that drew the fourth Test of the series in Manchester, with batter Karun Nair showing some excellent composure to compile an unbeaten half-century on a day that saw England's quicks ask the visitors plenty of questions via some decent bowling. "Karun has been asked to do a tough job on the tour, start off at No.6 in the first Test and then batted at three for the other two Tests and I always said and we always thought that his tempo and his rhythm was very good," ten Doeschate noted. "He's a quality player, particularly for that reason that he can absorb the pressure. "I thought he summed up the conditions really well today and when someone comes back into the Test side like he does after a lengthy absence, the pressure is always there. "But I think he's handled that very off to Karun. "I think he's had a really good tour without blowing the lights out. Nepal to host ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Qualifier
10 teams are set to contend for four places to the main event in England and Wales Lower Mulpani Cricket Stadium and Upper Mulpani Cricket Stadium to stage the 21-day event The International Cricket Council (ICC) today announced Nepal as the host the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Qualifier from 12 January to 2 February 2026. Ten teams will compete in the 21-day event, playing across two venues at Mulpani, Kathmandu, for the four places up for grabs at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 in England and Wales. Bangladesh and Ireland are already confirmed for the Qualifier, having secured automatic qualification by virtue of their participation in the 2024 edition of the Women's T20 World Cup which was won by New Zealand in Dubai. The remaining eight teams are determined by way of regional qualifiers, with two teams each from Africa, Asia and Europe and one team each from the East Asia-Pacific and the Americas regions completing the lineup. Thailand and Nepal have already qualified from Asia, while the USA have confirmed their place as the Americas' representative, making the total number of teams already qualified to five including Bangladesh and Ireland, with the remaining five still to be confirmed. The tournament will see two groups of five teams each, leading to a Super Six stage and then to the Final. The full tournament schedule will be announced in due course. The ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 will take place in England and Wales from 12 June to 5 July. Over the course of 24 days, 33 matches will be played across seven venues, including Old Trafford Cricket Ground (Manchester), Headingley (Leeds), Hampshire Bowl (Southampton), and Bristol County Ground. The newly expanded competition will see 12 teams competing for the prestigious trophy.
