Updated 2025 TBT bracket after Carmen's Crew's opening game win

USA Today20-07-2025
In case you missed it, the Ohio State basketball alumni team, "Carmen's Crew," won its opening game in The Basketball Tournament to start its defense of last year's championship run. They did it as the No. 1 seed in the Indianapolis Region and will next play the winner of "Locked In Elite" and "Fort Wayne Champs" Monday night at 6 p.m. ET.
As we always do since the winner-take-all TBT Tournament came into existence, we'll follow along with "Carmen's Crew" to see if it can take home its third title or not. We already wrote a recap of the action and shared some highlights of its win over GoTime Green Machine, but we thought it well worth it to continue to share an updated 2025 TBT bracket as things progressed with Carmen's Crew still in the mix.
So, with that being said, here is an updated 2025 TBT Tournament bracket after games on Sunday so you can follow along.
We'll continue to update this bracket with every Carmen's Crew win and bring highlights and recaps as long as the former Ohio State players are in the tournament.

Ohio State football duo named to the 2025 Thorpe preseason watch list

We've got a couple of more Ohio State football players that landed on a preseason watch list on Wednesday, and this time it's the Jim Thorpe Award. The Thorpe Award was first handed out in 1986 and is one of the most prestigious awards in college football. It goes to the best defensive back in college football annually and is voted on by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame. The Buckeyes have only had two players take home the Thorpe Award, and it's been a while. Antoine Winfield won the award in 1998, with Malcom Jenkins taking it home a decade later in 2008. You have to like Ohio State's chances in 2025 because one of the players appearing on the preseason watch list is safety Caleb Downs. His accolades speak for themself, but he's widely known as the best defender and defensive back heading into the country. The other Buckeye appearing on the list of 35 names is cornerback Davison Igbinosun. The 6-foot-2-inch. long and rangy corner will be entering his senior season in Columbus after transferring from Ole Miss after his sophomore season. He's played in all 29 games since coming to the banks of the Olentangy and led the team with 11 passes defended (9 pass breakups and two interceptions). After being narrowed down to three finalists, the Thorpe Award will be announced on December 12 during the Home Depot College Football Awards show. Pair of Ohio State football players named to the 2025 Butkus Award preseason watch list

The 2025 Butkus Award preseason watch list was unveiled on Wednesday, and there were two more Ohio State football players appearing on the list. The Butkus has been around since 1985 and is given to the best linebacker in college football on a yearly basis. It is, of course, named after the late, great Pro Football and College Football Hall of Fame linebacker, Dick Butkus. The two OSU players appearing among the 50 names announced are Sonny Styles and Arvell Reese. Styles is entering his final year as a Buckeye after already making a name for himself in 2024. He was second on the team with 100 tackles and really flashed at the end of the season through to the College Football Playoff championship run. Reese could be poised for a huge breakout this year. He received high praise from the coaching staff last year before the season and showed flashes of what he could do, and now he figures to be a starter at linebacker and make good on all that athleticism and promise. Two all-time great linebackers in Ohio State history have won the Butkus. Andy Katzenmoyer was the first Buckeye to take the award home in 1997, and that was followed up by current Ohio State linebackers coach James Laurinaitis in 2007. The Butkus Award winner will be announced on December 10 after the semifinalists are announced on November 4, and the finalists are unveiled on November 25. Two Ohio State football players named to the 2025 Outland Trophy preseason watch list

Alert! We have another preseason watch list announcement that came out on Tuesday, and it involves a couple of Ohio State football players. The Outland Trophy has been around since 1946, and goes out to the best college football interior lineman annually. The Buckeyes have seen four players awarded the Trophy, but not since 1996 when Orlando Pace was recognized. In other words, it's been a minute. Prior to Pace, though, Ohio State also had a player win the Outland in 1956 (Jim Parker), 1970 (Jim Stillwagon), and 1973 (John Hicks). It'll be looking to add to that haul with fourth-year offensive lineman Tegra Tshabola and defensive tackle Eddrick Houston being among the 50 names announced by the Football Writers Association of America appearing on the 2025 preseason watch list. Tshabola will be entering his senior season and is the only returning offensive lineman to have started all 16 games last season. He adds a veteran presence who has seen action in 33 games during his career at Ohio State. Houston is just entering his second season, but showed a high ceiling for what he can do last season, with action in 15 games and playing the most snaps of a freshman last year with a total of 141. The Outland Trophy will be awarded on January 26 at the Outland Trophy Awards Dinner sponsored by Werner Enterprises and produced by the Greater Omaha Sports Committee in Omaha, Nebraska.
