Talenti gelato fans are begging the brand to make the jars easier to open — here's what the brand is doing about it

New York Post11-06-2025

If you've ever tried to enjoy some Talenti gelato, you've probably experienced the frustration of opening the jar.
Customers have been expressing their irritation online for some time now — and the company is listening.
Talenti's packaging is inspired by the way Italian gelaterias display their gelato assortments, according to the brand, but the clear jar with dark-brown screw-top lid has been anything but satisfying for fans who just want to taste the smooth, velvety gelato inside.

One person on TikTok shared that they 'tried everything' to get the screw lid off of the jar including running it under water and using a mitten grip, but nothing worked — so she cut a hole in the side of the jar.
'So that's not how you're supposed to do it? Obvs the top is not for opening!' one person commented in response.
Another person cut hole into the brown lid and wrote, 'The inventor of Talenti better sleep with one eye open.'

One person even broke their Robotwist Jar Opener in an unsuccessful attempt to use it to open their Talenti jar.
A TikTokker shared a video of her husband using heavy-duty pliers to get the lid off — and it worked with some grunting and elbow grease.
'Talenti count your days,' a user wrote over a video that showed her trying pretty much everything, including using a hammer, to get access to her beloved gelato.

And people in the comments of these posts all seemed to have similar issues.
'I've had a near mental breakdown trying to open one of these,' one person shared.
'Talenti's gonna have a class action for giving us arthritis,' someone quipped.

'I thought it was just me struggling,' another said with crying emojis. 'I don't understand why it's so hard to enjoy an ice cream. Very unnecessary.'
'I broke a knife in a desperate attempt to get one open!' a user admitted.
'By the time I get them open, I don't even want it anymore,' another commented.

Talenti has taken notice of the fight, posting their own TikTok with a voiceover saying, 'We've seen the creative ways fans have tried to open our jars. From wrenches to steamers and sheer willpower, the struggle to open our jars is real.'
'We agree, opening the jar shouldn't be the hardest part,' they continued. 'Our team is actively working on a long-term fix.'
In the meantime, they gave tips on the best way to open their jars: Let it sit at room temperature for 3-5 minutes, then use a jar gripper — they even sell a branded one called the Talenti twist — to twist it open, and enjoy.
The brand told TODAY.com that they're working on a permanent solution, and as a short-term fix, they're rolling out a new lid for their jars.

'We hear our fans loud and clear. Getting into our jars can be difficult at times, but rest assured, we're actively working to address that challenge,' a Talenti spokesperson told the outlet.
'In addition, we have an expert team, focusing on packaging and engineering, working on a long-term solution that preserves the signature look of our transparent jars while significantly improving ease of use.'

A 5-month-old puppy with a case of separation anxiety left an owner sobbing in horror with what she discovered after returning home. Shanna White, also known on TikTok as @theregoshan1, has a red-nosed pit bull and German shepherd mix puppy named Ja'Dioree Scarlett, whom she's owned since the dog was only 5 weeks old. Ja'Dioree Scarlett, like many dogs, experiences separation anxiety when alone. Dogs with separation anxiety become extremely stressed and anxious, often causing them to become destructive. However, White said her puppy has never shown signs of being stressed while home alone. Ja'Dioree Scarlett never ruined the house. But White recently came home to a surprising scene after being gone for about an hour. She returned home to discover seemingly every last inch of the place destroyed. The blinds were chewed off. Items were thrown around. Pee on the bed. It became a headache for White after she was already under a lot of stress. She said this situation made it "worse." In her June 17 TikTok video, White walked around her home revealing more and more damage. She wrote in the caption that her pup "ate" her home. She cried in disbelief, wondering what had happened to her house after leaving it pristine and her pup calmly relaxing. "I know she has separation anxiety, but I didn't know she was that smart to open my room door," White said. "The only thing going through my mind was my house and how would I pay for all of it." Viewers were left speechless over this dog's "field day." "She had a funky good time," wrote one person. Another added: "Peeing on my bed would've sent me over the edge." However, several users flooded the comment section with their concerns about this pup's behavior. They ridiculed the owner: "I blame you cause why you left that toddler out." Pet parents are often divided on whether or not to crate train. Proponents argue crates provide dogs a safe space to go when they're feeling stressed, scared or tired. It keeps them out of trouble. But others will say it creates unwanted emotional stress, especially when left for extended periods of time. Do you have funny and adorable videos or pictures of your pet you want to share? Servers blast parents whose kids make their jobs hell: ‘It's not a McDonald's PlayPlace'

Parents are being served up some serious etiquette lessons. A server says many in the industry dislike when mindless moms and dads dine at restaurants with their unruly kids in tow. But while other patrons may direct their ire at the offspring, many professionals say parents are the ones who should shoulder the blame if their children misbehave. 'Servers don't want to shame families or discourage them from going out to eat,' Alana Fineman, a comedian and server who posts restaurant skits on TikTok, told 'Parents are usually…trying their best.' However, Fineman, who hails from Southern California, says there are some mistakes moms and dads do make in restaurants. 'The phrase, 'The customer is always right' is dying out,' the server dished. Below, the errors that reveal more about the parents than they do about their children. Leave a mess Part of being a kid is making a mess, but when parents leave it to the bussers to clean up, that's when it becomes a problem. 'It's one thing when a baby throws food from his high chair — it's another when kids rip open sugar packets and dump them on the floor or finger-paint with ketchup on the walls,' Fineman said. 'That usually means that a parent is not paying attention or allowing it to happen.' If a kid throws up or there's food all over the walls and floors, it's the busser that cleans it up. Allow children to run around Most restaurants don't have the space for children to be running around wildly, which could lead to destruction. If a child runs into a server, broken glass can end up on the floor, food can fall and there's the potential of delayed orders and injuries. 'If you're carrying a tray of five martinis or plates of boiling-hot food and a child runs in front of you, you can drop it on the floor or onto a person,' Fineman said 'Kids shouldn't run through a restaurant — it's not a McDonald's PlayPlace,' she declared. During an incident at her restaurant, there were kids that 'climbed over a fence and onto the street, where they threw rocks onto the dining patio.' While no one got injured, an employee at the restaurant 'did the parenting' and lectured the children. Make servers part of a 'teachable moment' 3 'Kids shouldn't run through a restaurant — it's not a McDonald's PlayPlace,' she declared. Quality Stock Video – When kids get to a certain age, they're able to express themselves and order their own food. Oftentimes, the parents will say to their child, 'Tell the lady what you want.' And while Fineman mostly finds this kind of conversation 'funny and endearing,' it can sometimes be an issue if the child won't speak for themselves — and the parent persists. 'Every so often, a parent says, 'We're not moving on until you learn to order,'' Fineman explained. 'I can't always be a part of it when I'm really busy.' Demand changes for picky eaters 3 Dining out with children can be a stress for parents — but sometimes it's the parents who make a server's job harder. JackF – Typically, picky eaters aren't a problem for servers at restaurants — unless the parent has big expectations, Fineman said. She claimed that some parents will get 'irate' if the restaurant's menu is restrictive or if the chef can't make a very specific meal. 'If it's a slow day, they might be able to…but not every time,' says Fineman. 'There needs to be a contingency plan for what your child can eat.' Forget to include kids in reservations 3 Alana Fineman revealed the things that parents do at restaurants that make workers the most annoyed. Tiktok/alanafinewoman There's apparently a 'fascinating phenomenon' where parents don't include their children in a reservation, not realizing that they, too, count as guests — even if they'll be using a high chair, taking up the same space as a regular chair. Fineman guessed that perhaps some parents do this to not have to pay automatic gratuity for larger parties, but she believes that most simply don't realize. This could lead to a problem on busy days when the family will ultimately end up waiting longer for a table that can accommodate them. 'There can be an unfortunate domino effect in the restaurant industry,' Fineman said. 'Miscalculating three people can affect the next 45 minutes.'

Lizzo Reacts to Performance of ‘About Damn Time' at President Trump's Military Parade

When Lizzo sang, 'Turn up the music, let's celebrate,' Donald Trump's widely protested military birthday parade was not what she had in mind. After video of a performer singing Lizzo's Billboard Hot 100-topping hit 'About Damn Time' at the event in Washington, D.C., on Saturday (June 14) surfaced online, the hitmaker made her feelings quite clear in a TikTok posted over the weekend. Stitching the clip with a few seconds of footage of the parade singer's breathless live rendition of the self-love anthem — performed in front of a gathering on the National Mall — Lizzo then cuts to a shot of herself staring pointedly at the camera, looking perplexed and disgusted. More from Billboard Tyler, the Creator, Finneas, Kehlani & More React to Los Angeles Protests Against ICE Addison Rae Announces Dates For Debut 2025 Headlining World Tour How Brandon Lake Is Leading A Whole New Flock To 'What's Real And What's True' In Christian Music 'cease & desist,' she wrote in the caption. It's unclear which performer is singing 'About Damn Time' in the video Lizzo shared, but according to USA Today, the parade stage's lineup included DJ Nyla Symone, Lee Greenwood, Scotty Hasting, Noah Hicks and Warren Zeiders. The choice to cover the Grammy-winning hit at Trump's procession was certainly an interesting one, though, as Lizzo — who endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 election — has made her disapproval of the twice-impeached POTUS very clear over the years. She's not the only one. While Trump was celebrating the U.S. Army's 250th birthday — as well as his own 79th birthday, which was also Saturday — through a grand show of military might in D.C., a slew of 'No Kings' gatherings broke out across the country in protest of his administration. Those overlapped with the ongoing protests in Los Angeles against the country's Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, which recently launched raids into multiple workplaces across the city in the name of alleged immigration violations. Lizzo also posted several times about the ICE raids on Bluesky a few days prior to her TikTok about the military parade. 'The irony of an ice agent forcing a Mexican person off of their ancestral land when that agent's ancestors are European immigrants is just…,' she wrote in one post, adding in another: 'And still … there are people who voted for this who are going to sleep with a smile on their faces pleased as pie … It's a wild world y'all.'
