I nabbed ASOS' fashion editor-approved viral maxi dress and it's so flattering on my curves

Daily Mirror4 days ago
If there's one dress that's been going viral this summer it's ASOS' crinkle maxi dress, with the dress becoming the fashion editor-approved go-to outfit for warm sunny days
Season after season there's often one or two pieces that become the most sought-after item to have in your wardrobe. This summer, it's the ASOS DESIGN Scoop Neck Crinkle Maxi Dress.
The maxi dress has become a default look for fashion editors looking for an easy and effortlessly chic outfit to throw on when the temperatures soar, and as Mirror 's senior fashion writer, I couldn't wait to join their ranks. I managed to get my hands on the chocolate brown version of the dress – no mean feat, considering the dress keeps consistently selling out – and as soon as it arrived, I knew it was about to be a staple in my wardrobe.
The Scoop Neck Crinkle Maxi Dress is reasonably priced at £34, and currently the Curve option is on sale, down to £22.40 although there's only the black colourway still in stock. Apart from being easy on my bank balance, the dress is also super flattering on all body types, not to mention lightweight and comfortable to wear in the summer heat.
It's made from 100% cotton, which is the perfect breathable and sweat-wicking fabric to wear in higher temperatures. It also gives the dress just the right amount of structure and weight to be comfortable whilst still holding its shape.
I picked up the dress in my usual size and it fitted like a glove. The shirred bodice means it can stretch to your curves and bust, and the cross over straps are adjustable to give you some added lift and support if needed. I will say the straps are a little on the short side, so if you're larger in the bust it may be worth sizing up just to give yourself some extra room to move.
What makes the Scoop Neck Crinkle Maxi Dress so outrageously flattering, though, is the subtle details. Rather than cutting straight across at the waist or hips, the shirred bodice curves over your hips and finishes in a V-shape at both the back and front, giving a drop waist effect and helping create an hourglass silhouette. The scoop neck is also beautifully flattering on all body types.
It is a maxi length dress, however I'm around five foot four inches in height, and it wasn't too long for me to wear. It just skimmed the top of my feet, making it easy to wear with any shoes whether that be heels, ballet flats or sandals.
Although I opted for the chocolate brown colour, the Scoop Neck Crinkle Maxi Dress does come in five other colours including red, green and a brown and white gingham. However due to its popularity it has been continuously selling out fast, so you'll need to be speedy if you want to nab it in your size.
If you have missed out on it, or just want some other options, I also found some great high street alternatives. New Look's White Ditsy Print V Waist Poplin Midi Dress is now on sale for £26.24, down from £34.99, whilst Hollister's Strapless Linen-Blend Midi Dress is now £28.99, down from £49.95.
If you prefer a little more coverage than the scoop neck provides, Nobody's Child's Poppy Delevingne Black Tiered Chloe Midi Dress is also a great choice. It has a higher neckline, with a sleeveless fitted bodice. It then flares out into a tiered skirt with plenty of movement, making it perfect for summer.
However if you want to snap up the Scoop Neck Crinkle Maxi Dress at ASOS, you can pick it up for £34 now in sizes six to 14, or opt for the Curve option which offers sizes 18 to 30 for £22.40.

Channel 4 insist they are 'proud' to show Bonnie Blue documentary

Bonnie Blue at the launch of her Channel 4 documentary (Image: Edward Ed Gleave) Channel 4 has defended the decision to make a documentary about online porn star Bonnie Blue - insisting it is 'proud' of the film and that is wants to 'stimulate debate". Viewers tuning in to watch 1000 Men and Me: The Bonnie Blue Story this week will receive an on air warning about the content before the documentary airs at 10pm. It features multiple scenes of graphic sex not normally seen on TV. Tia Billinger uses the stage name Bonnie Blue and invites men to have sex with her which she films and makes money from online. She is also known for angering and abusing other women online, including by suggesting she likes to sleep with married men. In January she caused social media outrage by announcing she'd slept with 1,057 men in 12 hours. Channel 4 insist they are 'proud' to show Bonnie Blue documentary (Image: Instagram/bonnie_blue_xo) The Channel 4 documentary's crew and director rarely question her about the abuse she gives to other women and her financial claims of earning millions each month also go unquestioned or unproven on screen. She also uses other younger girls to make one film and they say they are not being paid, despite the fact Tia would make thousands from the film. Aside from Tia expressing some fears about walking in public alone, the tone is largely celebratory. Asked about their decision to broadcast the documentary, Channel 4 told the Mirror: 'Tia Billinger, via her stage name Bonnie Blue, has gained worldwide attention and millions of pounds in the last year. 1000 Men and Me: The Bonnie Blue Story is an observational documentary in which director Victoria Silver follows Tia over the course of six months. The film questions Tia's methods and the divisive style of her social media and hears from colleagues and collaborators in order to understand her polarising business model. "Part of Channel 4's remit is to reflect modern Britain and stimulate debate amongst viewers, and a film such as this, exploring changing attitudes to sex, success, porn, and feminism in an ever-evolving online world is an important addition to those conversations. 'Channel 4 has a track record of programmes that examine the porn industry from a variety of perspectives. In the last two years we have broadcast programmes such as Sex Actually with Alice Levine that looked at a range of sexual experiences, while OnlyFans Got Me Fired: Untold and Confessions of a Cam Girl showed the personal cost of porn for content creators.' They also insisted the sections of the documentary showing Bonnie having sex multiple times across the documentary was necessary. They added: 'Careful consideration has been given to the content and the way in which it is included. The explicit content in the documentary is editorially justified and provides essential context; making pornographic content is Bonnie's job, and this film is about her work and the response to it. Crucially, the content is presented in a non-gratuitous manner and viewers will be alerted of the sexual content in a programme warning at the start to ensure they understand from the outset the nature of the programme.' Journalists were shown the film at a screening at Channel 4 last week attended by Tia, where even she expressed surprise at how many sex scenes 'were in there'. Introducing the film, Commissioning Editor Tim Hancock said before the screening: 'I believe it is Channel 4's job to tell stories like this, trying to get behind the truth of the headlines. We film real stories in real time. We are very proud to do films like this.' Asked why there was so much porn in the documentary and if she was braced for complaints, director Victoria Silver said: 'I had to explain to her(Tia) if I was making a film about a musician or some kind of other performer their work would be in there. I think it is important to see what she does.' * 1000 Men and Me: The Bonnie Blue Story is on Channel 4 on Tuesday night at 10pm.

Kelsey Parker surrounds herself with family after loss of baby son in poignant snap

Podcast host Kelsey Parker has made a return to social media for the first time since announcing the devastating death of her third child as she takes a break away Kelsey Parker has surrounded herself with her family as she takes a much-needed trip away following the death of her third child. The Wanted star Tom Parker's widow sadly announced her third child was born stillborn last month. ‌ She shares her child with her partner Will Lindsay, and broke the devastating news on social media as she revealed they had a little boy named Phoenix. Since then, Kelsey has taken time away from social media and a break away from her day-to-day life. ‌ Marking her return to Instagram, Kelsey shared a family photo with Will and her two children with Tom, Aurelia, six, and Bodhi, four. They soaked up the sun in a hot location as they looked out at a stunning view together. ‌ The podcaster chose not to share where they have decided to take a break to, but said: "Exactly what we needed. Thank you @jet2 for making it so easy. X." Just last month, Kelsey shared the heartbreaking news of her son on her account. Her devastating tribute to her son included one simple heartbreaking caption: 'Phoenix Parker-Lindsay, you will forever be loved." ‌ She added a moving poem, entitled For Phoenix, Born Sleeping, Forever Loved. The poem read: 'The world grew quiet as you arrived, So loved, so longed for, yet not alive. Our precious boy, our angel light, Born with wings, took silent flight. 'We named you Phoenix, brave and bright. A soul of love, of warmth and light. Though we never heard you cry, You'll live in hearts that won't ask why. No breath you drew, no eyes to see, Still, you mean everything to me. You'll journey with us, softly near, In every sigh, in every tear.' Kelsey was flooded with support from her followers as well as celebrity pals, which she preempted with a message. In her post, she wrote: "Before I receive an influx of lovely messages and heartfelt wishes, I wanted to just say that I truly appreciate everything you are all going to say and share. ‌ "But with the news being so raw, I would really like to ensure that we as a family are given space and time to process this devastating and earth-shattering news. I love you all and thank you for your understanding and space. Love always, Kelsey, Will, and the Parker Family." Kelsey shares children Aurelia, five, and Bodhi, four, with The Wanted star Tom Parker, who tragically died from brain cancer in 2022 at the age of 33, four years after they married. She had opened up to the Mirror in January about her excitement at welcoming a third child into the family home which she now shares with tree surgeon Will, after finding love again last September. ‌ Confessing that the baby, which would have been Will's first child, was a "happy accident", Kelsey said she was gently preparing Aurelia and Bodhi for a new sibling. Will also told us: "I'm over the moon. This is something I've wanted for a long time. I couldn't be happier and I know Kelsey is going to be an amazing mum, as she already is."
