Gary Lineker has reportedly signed a huge deal with ITV to host a brand new celebrity game show - after leaving the BBC earlier this year following an anti-semitism row. The former Match Of The Day presenter, 64, is thought to be returning to Saturday night TV for a new show called The Box. Touted as a replacement for Ant and Dec 's Saturday Night Takeaway, The Box's format sees 12 celebrities all put in a different box where they have to face a terrifying challenge. Already a show in Norway, The Sun reports it has been dubbed as a cross between I'm A Celebrity and SAS: Who Dares Wins. A source told the publication: 'The Box is massive in Norway, and the rights were quickly sold to Denmark and now the UK. ' ITV are really excited about it - and believe they have finally found a worthy successor to Saturday Night Takeaway. 'They have long been sniffing around Gary and just needed to find the right format for him. They're confident they've found that now, and the BBC 's loss is their gain.' The source added that filming will take place in the autumn and it will air in early spring, likely with a Saturday night slot. Gary and ITV have been contacted by MailOnline for comment. Back in May Gary welled up as he delivered his final Match of the Day speech, thanking viewers for their 'love and support' and sending a message to his successors. The presenter was visibly moved by a seven-minute tribute featuring the likes of Pep Guardiola, Virgil van Dijk, Ian Wright, and even Andrea Bocelli. Lineker hosted his final BBC show and hinted at the start that it 'wasn't meant to end this way' after being axed amid an antisemitism row. He was axed after sharing a pro-Palestine Instagram video which featured an emoji of a rat, with critics accusing him of promoting a familiar anti-Semitic slur. He later apologised. At the end of his last show, wrapping up his £1.4million gig, he paid tribute to the wider team, saying: 'Let me take the opportunity to thank all the other pundits I've had the pleasure of working with over the last 25 years. EastEnders star Jessie Wallace has revealed she 'burst out crying' after reuniting with her on screen daughter Michelle Ryan amid her return to the soap. During her time on the show, Michelle, now 41, was involved in one of the soap's biggest storylines when it was revealed that Kat Slater (Jessie) was in fact Zoe's mother and not her sister, with explosive scenes seeing her yell: 'You ain't my mother!', only for Kat to reply: 'Yes I am!' And now, after returning to Albert Square two decades after her dramatic exit, Jessie revealed she was overcome with emotion at the news. Speaking in an interview with the Radio Times she confessed that they reunited at a secret dinner date with the executive producers. 'I burst out I saw Michelle, I cried – we were all very emotional. It was nostalgic and lovely.' While it isn't uncommon for roles to be recast in the soap world, Jessie was also determined that if Zoe returned it could only be Michelle. Viewers then saw Zoe in two further episodes that week but she will now be back full-time this summer, as her mother Kat prepares to tie the knot with Alfie Moon for the third time. Speaking previously on her return to the BBC soap, Michelle said: 'It feels like coming home. After doing my first few scenes, it was like I'd never been away. It all happened at the right time. 'I'd already been thinking about a return because I'd met up with Kacey Ainsworth (Little Mo) and Kim Medcalf (Sam Mitchell) and we were reminiscing our fond memories of the show, and I'd also joined social media and saw that there was still a lot of love for the character. 'It just so happened that at the same time, EastEnders had announced a new Exec who was keen to explore the potential of a return as he was such a massive fan of Zoe and the Slaters, so both of our worlds aligned at the right time, and I'm so excited to be back. 'When I was pitched the storylines, and when I read the scripts, I knew it was the right decision.' EastEnders new boss, Executive Producer Ben Wadey added: 'Before I even stepped into the role, Zoe Slater was on my wish-list of returnees as, although we haven't seen her on screen for twenty years, her character has transcended time due to her popular storylines.' Since Zoe's exit from Walford 20 years ago, it's been revealed that she and Kat have become estranged. Teasing her character's reason to come back to Albert Square, Michelle added: 'I can't say too much as there is a lot of drama to come, but Zoe is a mess. 'She's not the girl that left Walford twenty years ago, and she's been really struggling on her own. 'She has her defences up, but this week you will see that she needs help, but whether she is willing to accept it is another story.' It comes after Daily Mail revealed in February that, despite multiple attempts from bosses over the years, Michelle had refused to return to EastEnders. A source revealed: 'Bosses reached out to Michelle several times over the years, they would love to have her back. For example, as the soap was approaching its big 30th anniversary, it was a gentle approach asking if she would consider a return in the lead up to it all. 'This was at the very early stages of their plans but Michelle refused and there was a lot of disappointment amongst bosses. 'It's always been quite baffling why she wouldn't want to reprise a character who is still very much adored by the fans. It's been 20 years since she left Albert Square but still people are talking about her character.'

Jesse Armstrong admits his political nous is far from Malcolm Tucker's skills DIA DIPASUPIL/WIREIMAGE/GETTY IMAGES The comedy writer Jesse Armstrong may have co-created the fearsome Malcolm Tucker, but this was clearly not based on his own experiences as a political operator. Long before writing The Thick of It, Armstrong worked as a researcher for the Labour MP Doug Henderson, and his skill with the political dark arts made him look like a veritable angel. In fact, he wilted in the face of some of Westminster's less than Satanic devils. 'Liz Kendall would come and ask me questions, and I felt like a rabbit in the headlights,' Armstrong tells Always Take Notes. Perhaps the biggest clue came when he attended the Labour Party conference and wondered why everyone thought he was a Lib Dem. A friend replied: 'You're wearing a yellow tie, you moron.' Discussing the current scandal in which several Spanish politicians have had to resign for fabricating details about their educational attainments, the journalist Rob Hutton told Times Radio that one of his favourite such stories concerns a Russian politician. 'His PhD thesis was found to contain more than 16 pages of text taken verbatim from an American textbook,' he said. 'That's why you've never heard of Vladimir Putin.' There were confused faces at the Royal Albert Hall as the audience attending the BBC Proms: 'Soul Revolution' were greeted with Radio 2's new slogan, 'Make Every Day Less Everyday'. One Beeb insider remarked that even W1A, the sitcom satire of the BBC, would have deemed this too ludicrous. The team responsible for the slogan insists that it makes sense: 'It's not about making every day less, it's about making it less everyday.' It was penblwydd hapus (happy birthday) to Plaid Cymru on Tuesday, as the party celebrated its 100th anniversary. One of its policies still has some way to go, given an incident a few years ago on a bus between Newport and Cwmbran. A Muslim woman was talking to her son in a foreign language when a man leant across to tell her: 'When you're in the UK, you should really be speaking English.' Another passenger turned round and replied: 'She's in Wales. And she's speaking Welsh.' Plaid is hoping have a million Welsh speakers by 2050, so such rude interventions should cease. For now, the gentleman was left looking sheepish — not that that's a bad look west of the Wye.
