This Essex star could be the next James Bond, latest survey reveals
Chelmsford-born actor Jack Lowden is gaining serious ground in the race to become the next James Bond, a survey claims.
Mr Lowden, who has built a strong reputation with standout performances in Dunkirk, Slow Horses and The Gold, is now priced at 6/1 in the latest Bond betting — giving him a 14.3% chance of replacing Daniel Craig as 007.
The team at OLBG.com have shared the latest James Bond casting predictions and Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the returning favourite, with a 50% chance.
The latest odds come amid a reshuffle that has seen Aaron Taylor-Johnson return as the frontrunner at 1/1, following a high-profile partnership with Omega, the luxury watch brand synonymous with Bond since 1995.
But while the headlines focus on Taylor-Johnson, industry insiders say Lowden's quiet rise shouldn't be overlooked.
His blend of steely charisma, emotional depth, and natural on-screen gravitas has long impressed casting directors, and fans have increasingly backed him as a dark horse for the role.
Mr Lowden's stock has also risen thanks to his recurring role in Apple TV's Slow Horses, where he plays an MI5 agent — perhaps a warm-up for Bond himself?
Though Chelmsford isn't typically associated with international espionage, it could soon be on the Bond map.
As the race tightens, one thing is clear — Essex may yet produce the next James Bond.

James Cameron Confirms His Next Movie Will Be a Fantasy Epic THE DEVILS — GeekTyrant
James Cameron has been burined deep in the world of Pandora for years, but he's announced what his next film project will be. The filmmaker behind Aliens , Titanic , and Avatar announced on Facebook that his next movie after Avatar: Fire and Ash will be an adaptation of The Devils . The Devil's is a brand-new fantasy novel by British author Joe Abercrombie, and Cameron is producing and co-writing the script with Abercrombie himself. The director said: 'I've loved Joe's writing for years, cherishing each new read, throughout the epic cycle of the First Law books, especially Best Served Cold (LOVE IT!), and the Age of Madness trilogy. 'But the freshness of the world and the characters in The Devils finally got me off my butt to buy one of his books and partner with him to bring it to the screen. 'I can't wait to dig into this as I wind down on Avatar: Fire and Ash. It will be a joyful new challenge for me to bring these indelible characters to life.' Abercrombie has built a loyal following in the grimdark fantasy space. His First Law series redefined the genre with its morally compromised antiheroes and sharp, self-aware writing. But, The Devils , which just hit shelves last month via Tor, kicks off a new trilogy, one with a very different premise. Set in a warped version of our own world, The Devils imagines a Europe crawling with unspeakable monsters and under siege by flesh-eating elves. The story centers on Brother Diaz, a weary soldier-priest tasked with assembling a team of both men and monsters to fight back the rising tide of horror. Abercrombie seems just as excited about the team-up, saying: 'I can't think of anyone better to bring this weird and wonderful monster of a book to the screen,' he said in a statement. This isn't the only Abercrombie film adaptation in the works. Best Served Cold , one of his most beloved standalone novels, is currently being developed as a feature film with Rebecca Ferguson set to play the deadly Monza Murcatto. That project is being directed by Deadpool's Tim Miller and is currently in pre-production. Cameron, meanwhile, still has a few stops left on the Avatar train. Fire and Ash , the third installment in his sprawling sci-fi epic, is scheduled to open on December 19th. Two more sequels are planned after that, with tentative release dates in 2029 and 2031. But clearly, the filmmaker is already mapping out his next creative obsession. If The Devils lands with the scope and visual intensity we associate with Cameron, and given the source material, this could be a great new chapter for both the director and modern fantasy cinema. The Devils is available now in print, ebook, and audiobook formats.

Marc Maron's 3-Word Response to Ending His 'WTF' Podcast
Marc Maron had a typically succinct three-word response to the news that he will end his WTF podcast in the announced the news on the June 2 episode of his long-running show, which featured an interview with John Mulaney. 'WTF will turn 16 years old on September 1. Sixteen years, it's a long time. It's a long time to do anything,' Maron said during the show's opening. 'All of a sudden, you're old and you realize you've been doing something for a long time. This started in the old garage. No one knew what a podcast was. I was coming out of a horrendous divorce. I was wanting to figure out how to continue living my life. Things were not looking good for me,' he recalled. Simply put, Maron said: 'We're burnt out.''We have put up a new show every Monday and Thursday for almost 16 years and we're tired,' he explained. 'And we're utterly satisfied with the work we've done.' 'When Brendan and I started this thing, all we knew was that we were going to do it every Monday and Thursday. And there was no way to make money. There was no way that we knew how to build an audience or anything. We were doing it in the garage in the beginning that was just a garage filled with junk. And it slowly evolved into the show that became what you listen to twice a week. Sixteen years we've been doing this and we've decided that we had a great run and now, basically, it's time, folks. It's time. WTF is coming to an end, and it's our decision. 'Thankfully, we both realized, together, that we were done,' Maron continued. 'There was no convincing or pushback, or arguing. We were done. And it's okay. It's okay for things to end…This was a show that started when there were no podcasts. And now, there is nothing but podcasts.'Though podcasts had been around for nearly a decade before WTF, Maron's show was one of the first to garner mainstream attention and is largely credited with launching the current podcast boom. The success of the show transformed Maron's career from that of a cult standup comedian to a successful presenter and actor, with roles in Joker and on Netflix's Glow. His next project, the Apple TV+ series Stick, in which he stars opposite Owen Wilson, premieres Wednesday on the streamer. Maron is also the subject of an upcoming documentary, Are We Good?, directed by Steven Feinartz.
