UIDAI shares non-personal Aadhaar dashboard data to promote transparency
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Monday said it has begun sharing non-personal, anonymised data from the Aadhaar Dashboard on the open government data platform called data.gov.in.
The move aims to further promote transparency, research, and data-driven policy making, said the Ministry of Electronics and IT in a statement.
The datasets, released by Chief Data Officer (CDO) and Deputy Director General of UIDAI, include aggregated insights on Aadhaar enrolment, updates, and authentication patterns, categorised by geography, age-group and other relevant parameters.
According to the IT Ministry, by making these non-personal and anonymised datasets accessible, UIDAI aims to support academic research, innovation in digital services, and collaborative developments.
'This initiative opens new avenues for evidence-based policy-making and technological innovation, furthering UIDAI's commitment to transparency, public good, and secure data governance,' it added.
It also aligns with the broader government vision of fostering evidence-based policy making and maximising the value of open data for the public good. It is expected to further boost digital inclusion and governance efficiency.
Meanwhile, the total number of Aadhaar authentication transactions have crossed the 150 billion (15,011.82 crore) mark. Moreover, the total number of eKYC transactions (37.3 crore) carried out during April is 39.7 per cent more than the numbers during the same period last year.
The cumulative number of e-KYC transactions has crossed 2,393 crore as on April 30, according to the Ministry of Electronics and IT.
In April alone, almost 210 crore Aadhaar authentication transactions were carried out, nearly 8 per cent more than the same month in 2024, informed the ministry.
More than 100 entities, both in the government and private sectors, are using face authentication for the smooth delivery of benefits and services. In FY25, Aadhaar number holders carried out more than 2,707 crore authentication transactions in 2024-25.

Gurgaon: Govt's online portal for drawing of lots in affordable housing schemes will directly cross-check and verify applicant details with information in the Aadhaar card to make the process more transparent and eliminate chances of duplication or manipulation. Officials of the department of town and country planning (DTCP) said on Friday that the updated portal – called TCP Haryana – will fetch applicant details such as name, address and mobile number from the Aadhaar card. This will prevent manual data entry errors and manipulation while ensuring that only eligible candidates are considered for allotments. The move comes in response to irregularities uncovered in the 2023 housing draw of Aster Avenue 36 in Sector 36, Sohna. During the draw of lots for 702 flats at the society, those with addresses given as 'Sohna City' were considered eligible for the scheme, limiting the pool to 2,200 entries out of 51,000 applicants. This was blamed on a technical error. Cross-checking with Aadhaar would do away with chances of such errors, officials said. The Aster Avenue draw was cancelled after an internal probe, and a fresh draw was conducted. But 26 applicants were found to have been repeated in both the shortlists, raising more concerns about fairness and the integrity of the system. "Going forward, the Aadhaar-linked system will automatically populate the applicant's details and verify if they have previously been allotted flats under any affordable housing scheme. If found ineligible, their application will be auto-rejected by the system," said Renuka Singh, senior town planner, DTCP. "All past applicant data from earlier schemes is now being integrated into this upgraded software," Singh said. Additionally, the system will prevent any duplicate entries and ensure that no one can bypass eligibility rules. The new mechanism is expected to significantly reduce the administrative burden and potential biases associated with manual data handling. The Aster Avenue 36 matter is currently pending before the Punjab and Haryana high court, and the next hearing is scheduled for July 9. Applicants who were declared successful in the original draw have yet to receive refunds, while allotment letters for 702 flats drawn in the second round remain on hold because of ongoing legal proceedings. Why Indian Railways Deactivated 2.5 Crore "Bogus" IDs On IRCTC
The Indian Railways has deactivated 2.5 crore "bogus" user IDs and put around 20 lakh others under revalidation to curb unauthorised automated bookings by unscrupulous agents. This will significantly improve the access to genuine users on IRCTC website and app, the Ministry of Railways said. The department deployed cutting-edge anti-BOT systems and integrated with a leading Content Delivery Network (CDN) service provider to make it possible. Besides enhancing transparency, the step will improve security and user experience as well. Within the past five months (January to May), the Railways detected 2.9 lakh suspicious PNRs. This was done while analysing ticket bookings in the first five minutes after it started for both general and Tatkal tickets, The Times of India reported. A Railways official shared that 134 complaints were registered with the national cybercrime portal and they have blocked more than 6,800 disposal email domains. Fraudsters used unique email IDs for every contact or entity. These are usually for a limited number of times. This helps them charge extra money from the passengers. Through the new system, the Railways has been able to mitigate all bot traffic effectively. They typically peaked during the first five minutes of Tatkal bookings. During this period, the bot traffic accounted for up to 50 per cent of the overall login attempts. Notably, the highest-ever per-minute booking of 31,814 tickets was witnessed on May 22, 2025. The latest enhancement will further ensure better accessibility to genuine users and cut down 'bogus' attempts. For fairness and efficiency, the Indian Railways has also come up with new user protocols. Under this, Aadhaar-verified users will be able to book train tickets on the IRCTC website and app without facing any delays; those not authenticated via Aadhaar can book Opening ARP, Tatkal or Premium Tatkal tickets can make bookings only after three days of registration. These efforts have shown measurable improvements in recent times. The average daily user logins was 69.08 lakh in financial year 2023–24 and increased to 82.57 lakh in FY 2024–25, witnessing a 19.53 per cent rise. The average daily ticket bookings jumped by 11.85 per cent during the same period. At present, E-Ticketing accounts for 86.38 per cent of total reserved ticket bookings. With CDN, 87 per cent of static content is being served for faster load times and reduced server load, the Railway Ministry said. The AI algorithms have been able to detect and mitigate bot traffic actively. As there is a "genuine shortage of confirmed tickets," efforts are being made to run more trains to increase capacity, sources told The Times Of India.
