Gal Gadot says 'pressure' to speak out against Israel hurt 'Snow White' at box office
Gal Gadot is weighing in on the box office failure of "Snow White." The "Wonder Woman" star, 40, discussed the financial disappointment of the Disney live-action remake during a recent appearance on "The A Talks," an Israeli TV show, according to Variety and The Hollywood Reporter. Gadot, who was born in Israel and was a combat fitness instructor in the Israel Defense Forces during her mandatory two years of service, theorized the movie's performance was affected by pressure on celebrities to speak out against her home country. Rachel Zegler, who played Snow White in the film opposite Gadot's Evil Queen, was outspoken in her support for Palestine ahead of the movie's release. "There's pressure on celebrities to speak against Israel," said Gadot, speaking in Hebrew, according to a translation published by Variety. "And, you know, it happened. I can always explain and try to give context about what's happening here. And I always do that. But in the end, people make their own decisions. And I was disappointed that the movie was incredibly affected by all of that and that it didn't do well at the box office. But that's how it goes. You win some, you lose some." Despite speculation of bad blood between the two "Snow White" actresses, though, Gadot also said she enjoyed working with Zegler. "We laughed and we talked, we had fun," she said, per The Hollywood Reporter. Gadot added that she was "positive the movie was going to be a huge hit" before its release. But "Snow White" underperformed at the box office in March, earning $87 million in North America. By comparison, Disney's live-action "The Little Mermaid" remake made $298 million at the domestic box office, and the "Lilo & Stitch" remake took in $421 million domestically. After the film's poor performance, Jonah Platt, son of "Snow White" producer Marc Platt, publicly blamed Zegler, who posted "free Palestine" on X in August 2024 after thanking fans for watching the movie's trailer. In a since-deleted Instagram comment, Platt slammed Zegler "for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicity for." Platt added that the actress' "actions clearly hurt the film's box office." Zegler never directly responded to Platt's claims. But in a June i-D magazine profile, the "West Side Story" star defended voicing support for Palestine and argued that "a platform becomes a responsibility, and that responsibility is ours to use as we please." Zegler noted "there are obviously things that are at stake by being outspoken," but "nothing is worth innocent lives," adding, "My heart doesn't have a fence around it, and if that is considered my downfall? There are worse things." Gadot, meanwhile, told Variety in March that her "conscience is clean" about advocating for hostages of Hamas and speaking out in support of Israel. "I am praying for better days for all," she told the outlet at the time. "I want everybody to have good life and prosperity, and the ability to raise their children in a safe environment." Jenna Ortega Channels a Gothic Kate Moss in a Leather Slip Dress
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. A press tour's final days are a battle between the star and the clock. Jenna Ortega, for example, is delivering as many last-minute looks as she and stylist Enrique Melendez can beforeWednesday Season 2 drops on Friday. As the promo cut-off drew near, Ortega's style streak continued on August 5 in fresh-off-the-runway Ann Demeulemeester. At New York City's Paris Theater, Ortega met up with her Wednesday co-stars to surprise fans at a special screening. She hasn't gone the all-black route in a week, as to not be "too predictable," Melendez told me earlier in the tour. But on Tuesday evening, she returned to her character's roots in Ann Demeulemeester Fall 2025. Ortega picked Look 4 from the 37-piece line: a '90s-inspired slip dress made of leather and silk. As seen on the runway, the leather ruffles began at the cowl neck and ended atop the asymmetrical hem. In the Fall 2025 show, the model grunge-ified her gown with chunky platform shoes. Ortega, however, chose lace-up knee-high boots from Miista, which looked straight out of Wednesday Addams's gothic, yet academic aesthetic. In the accessory department, Ortega swapped the catwalk choices for more minimalist moments, including a singular silver bangle, mismatched rings, and no necklace. Direct from the red carpet, Melendez posted Ortega's step-and-repeat on Instagram, calling the Demeulemeester design "perfect for NYC." In another IG story, he applauded Ortega for "serving Kate Goth... I mean, Kate Moss." Clearly the supermodel, and her '90s-era slips inspired their selection. View Deal Moss is practically synonymous with '90s slip dresses featuring the same cowl neckline and flowy skirt as Ortega's. At the 1995 CFDA Awards, the A-lister stole the show in a white maxi. If the LWD turned black, it would've bared a shocking resemblance to Ortega's latest look, hence the "Kate Goth" reference. And just like that, Ortega and Melendez nailed another homage. At this point, the dynamic duo are their own competition. I, for one, can't wait for the L.A. premiere tomorrow, where they'll certainly outdo themselves once again. Oasis Dublin performance hailed as 'noisiest in Irish history'
Oasis have been hailed as the "noisiest and most celebratory concert in Irish live music history" after their performance at Croke Park in Dublin. The band took to the stage for the sixteenth concert on their reunion tour, playing yet another sell out show on the world tour after dates in Cardiff, Manchester, and London. Noel Gallagher previously played Croke Park back in July 2017, performing to a half empty stadium while supporting U2 on their sold out 30th anniversary tour of album The Joshua Tree, DublinLive reports. Never miss a story with the MEN's daily Catch Up newsletter - get it in your inbox by signing up here Oasis played to a crowd of some 80,000 people at the venue, with the stadium already nearly full by the time second support act Richard Ashcroft took to the stage at 7pm. Journalist Mark Kavanagh went along to the performance for DublinLive to see the iconic Manchester band as they continue their world tour. Here's what he had to say: The joyous scenes and universal praise from the 15 previous Oasis Live 25 triumphs at Cardiff, Manchester and London perhaps heightened the sense of eager anticipation for the two Croke Park shows. The city has been buzzing all week and I've never had so many people enquire if I knew where they could get tickets. Ashcroft slayed the hyper Irish audience and the singalongs for his best known tunes suggested the raucous carnival atmosphere inside the Dublin stadium might just eclipse all of the UK dates and then some. And that's because no supporters in the world are more deafening than Irish fans, who tonight, like Oasis, were in scorching form, lapping up the solid gold set of back-to-back glorious anthems. Join our Oasis WhatsApp group HERE A wall of sound erupted when the siblings walked on stage before launching into a seismic opening salvo of Hello, Acquiesce and (What's the Story) Morning Glory. The wave of excitedly bobbing bodies on the pitch resembled a giant mosh shook his tambourine and spat out every lyric like his life depended on it; his voice sounded more potent than it has ever been, and especially powerful on the momentous Rock 'n Roll Star and Slide Away. The band were super tight, glued together by the chug of rhythm guitarist (and founding member) Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs. Noel looked not just relaxed and assured, but like he was actually enjoying every solo turns – which started with a pace-changing Talk Tonight – were the emotional heart of a spectacular show. Hearing more than 80,000 people almost drown him out by singing along to every word of Half The World Away was emotional. Bear in mind this was originally released as just a bonus track on 1994's standalone single Whatever. Noel stepped it back up a gear with Little By Little before Liam stormed the stage again for another rousing run of favourites that kicked off with D'You Know What I Mean? and Stand By Me and finished with phenomenal versions of the epic Live Forever and the blistering Rock N Roll Star. At that point, it was already a 10 out of 10 performance even without the ensuing encore of The Masterplan and crowd-pleasers Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger and Champagne Supernova, the latter the type of song for which stadium-sized concerts like this were invented. It's incredible that all but three of the 23 songs performed at Croke Park were released in an 18-month imperial era between April 1994 and October 1995, and quite a few of them were just B-sides. This was a magnificent event, everything Irish fans could have wished for, with a little bit extra sprinkled on top. The sight and sound of multitudes of fans too young to have ever seen Oasis in concert before punching their arms and singing their hearts out in unison with 90s veterans like me was quite the communal experience to behold. The band was loud but the Irish crowd were even louder and Sunday night's revellers will need to up their game to beat there be more shows to follow this tour? It would seem like a folly not to seize the moment and do a couple of Slane Castle shows in 2026 alongside at least two mammoth Knebworth outings. On the evidence of tonight, I sincerely hope so.
