VIPs on the Move: ‘The Conners' Star Sara Gilbert Seeks $11 Million for Her L.A. Home

Yahoo16-04-2025

Sara Gilbert hoisted her home in a historic area of Los Angeles up for sale, while actor Eric McCormack put his longtime digs in Toluca Lake on the market, and Maroon 5 bassist Sam Farrar added to his real estate portfolio with a new spot in Studio City.
As Sara Gilbert nears the final installment of The Conners—teasing a 'really satisfying ending' to the show's seven-season run—the actress/producer is also looking to shut the door on her modern farmhouse-style abode in L.A.'s Hancock Park neighborhood. Gilbert is asking just under $11 million for the six-bedroom, seven-bath residence, which she scooped up back in early 2016 for $6.8 million, while still married to songwriter Linda Perry. Resting on a third of an acre overlooking the Wilshire Country Club golf course, the nearly 6,400-square-foot, three-level spread is spotlighted by a lofty primary suite sporting a massive soaking tub, plus a private balcony overlooking the backyard pool and spa. The kitchen has a walk-in pantry with a rolling ladder to reach the high shelves, and there's also an office, a gym, and a media/game room.

Over in Toluca Lake, Will & Grace star Eric McCormack is parting ways with the traditional white wood-sided and green-trimmed dwelling he's lived in for more than two decades, ever since he and his ex-wife Janet doled out a mere $980,000 for the place in 1999. The current price? A dash under $4.5 million, which includes a 4,000-square-foot home with three bedrooms and four baths. The media room has a built-in entertainment center flanked by a stacked-stone fireplace, the wallpapered dining room connects to a colorful kitchen equipped with a wine fridge, and an office nook has a built-in desk. French doors in the fireside den open to a courtyard that's ideal for alfresco dining, with other notable features including a cute little log cabin-style studio, an outdoor kitchen and fireplace, and a lagoon-style pool with a waterfall.

And maybe he needed some extra room to perfect his bass licks for Maroon 5 or perhaps to create all the original artwork he sells online. Whatever the case, Sam Farrar recently plunked down a speck under $3 million for a Studio City pad with an ample 3,582 square feet of two-level living space for all his creative pursuits. Hidden away on a cul-de-sac and boasting stylish pecan hardwood floors throughout, the five-bedroom property offers up a living room adorned with a marble fireplace and a large bay window, as well as an updated kitchen outfitted with top-tier Thermador and Sub-Zero appliances. An upstairs family room sits alongside a luxe primary suite, while the woodsy grounds host meandering pathways leading to terraced decks. Last year, Farrar also doled out $2.3 million for a revamped 1930s ranch-style residence over in Toluca Lake.

Jane Birkin's Original Bag Is Hitting the Auction Block

Source: Tristan Fewings / Getty The bag that started it all is hittin' the auction block, and it's not just any purse, it's the original Hermès Birkin. The one carried by the late style icon and singer Jane Birkin herself is going up for grabs at Sotheby's this summer. Before it became the ultimate flex in fashion, the bag Beyoncé rapped about and celebs go on waitlists for, it was just a custom carry-all designed for Jane on a flight in the '80s. She casually told the head of Hermès she needed a bag big enough for her day-to-day grind, and boom, the Birkin was born. Now, that one-of-a-kind original, not a remake, not resale, is hitting the auction in Paris from June 26 to July 10. But if you're in NYC, you can see it on display at Sotheby's from June 6 through 12. RELATED: Cardi B's Birkin Collection Has Us A Tad Bit Envious Jane Birkin, who passed in 2023, was more than just a muse. She was a singer, actress, and activist who used her platform to speak out for causes like AIDS awareness and democracy in Myanmar. She had that classic cool-girl energy — and clearly, influence that still echoes today. Sotheby's hasn't dropped the price tag yet, but with resale Birkins going for up to $220K, and Princess Diana's sweater selling for over $1 mil last year, you already know this bag is gonna pull big numbers. And if you've ever wondered why Birkins cost so much? Hermès says it's not about hype, it's about craftsmanship. But let's be real, exclusivity, quality, and culture all play a part. 'Whatever we have, we put on the shelf, and it goes,' said Hermès' creative director. Period. Jon Bellion Was Tired of Songwriters Getting ‘Paid F—king Dirt' — So He Flipped the Script With ‘Father Figure'

This week, Jon Bellion returned to center stage after years of remaining behind the scenes: the veteran songwriter-producer released Father Figure, his first album in seven years and a poignant reflection on fatherhood, including his relationship with his own father and his experiences as a dad of three. A deeply personal project that includes a picture of his parents on the album cover and a voicemail from his uncle on the track list, Father Figure also demonstrates Bellion's status as a gifted collaborator, with Luke Combs, Pharrell Williams and Jon Batiste lending their voices to his story. Bellion — who has contributed to hits by Justin Bieber, Maroon 5 and Miley Cyrus, and recently co-helmed 'Friend of Mine,' Rihanna's first new single in three years — says that he's not playing a 'numbers game' with the album, and that the metric of success he'd like to reach with Father Figure is more abstract. 'If my album can give you one more day, then I'm cool with that — that's the goal,' he tells Billboard. 'To give a listener another day of inspiration? I could live with that.' Bellion worked alongside the artists that comprise Beautiful Mind Projects — his management, publishing and label company — including studio whizzes Pete Nappi, Tenroc and Elkan, all of whom also contributed to Rihanna's 'Friend of Mine.' Bellion says that the decision to provide points to his fellow songwriters was the result of his own 'frustrations of being a songwriter and being paid dirt — morally paid dirt — for 10 years. I don't want to hear people talking about, 'Oh, he's made money and he's successful, so he can't talk about how songwriters get paid dirt.' … If you write an entire song with a group of people, and there's $10 and they only pay you 25 cents, there's moral injustice there. 'If it's $10 million and they only pay you $250,000, there's moral injustice there,' he continues. 'It doesn't matter the way you microscopically change that — it's an insane thing to say. I've always been vocal about that, and I don't care what people's perception of that is, because songwriters get paid f—king dirt.' After self-funding Father Figure, Bellion admits that he does have 'a new perspective and a new appreciation for what the label is doing,' but still believes that there's a way for record labels to allocate less money toward promotional efforts and more towards creative collaborators. To that end, Bellion says that he decided to focus his promotional campaign less on short-form content, and more on proper music videos for four songs from the album — including the title track, which received a moving visual on Friday (June 6). Bellion says that the album rollout has been an invaluable learning process. 'You've got to start somewhere,' he says. 'I'm understanding the workings of the label, and stumbling through it. And even if I come out losing money — which I think I will on this album — but still getting the writers paid at least a point or two, and giving them the courage to go into the next meeting to say 'Well, John did it!' … Someone has to be the guy to be like, 'I don't really know how to make my money back while giving out a ton of points if I'm funding the thing myself, but I'm gonna have to jump into the world to put my money where my mouth is.' I don't know if this is gonna work out, but at least I tried to do the thing.' As Bellion gears up to promote Father Figure from the stage — he'll perform a sold-out intimate show at SOB's in New York, and headline Forest Hills Stadium on Aug. 23 — he hopes that his unique standing in the industry will turn his gambit with the album into a successful model. 'I've been on both sides of the spectrum,' he says. 'I've been on the label side, I've been on the publisher side, I've been on the writer side, and I've been on the artist side. So there's more of a holistic angle, and I can try to bring everything in closer, to get to a better place, possibly. 'I'm not trailblazing,' Bellion continues. 'I'm gonna go to Capitol Hill and dedicate my life to — I'm not saying that. But putting my money where my mouth is, where it actually counts? It's a good place to start.'
