USA TODAY's TV critic Kelly Lawler breaks down the best TV shows you don't to want to miss this spring. After seven seasons, "The Conners" is getting ready to leave the air. As fans anxiously await the last few episodes of the series, Laurie Metcalf, who plays Jackie Harris on the popular "Roseanne" spinoff, is urging viewers not to expect a storybook ending. In an interview with People published Wednesday, Metcalf revealed the final season is "not going to have a big bow tied up." "There's a lot to wrap up and I think the writers are really working hard to get everybody's storylines sort of ... not completed," Metcalf told People. Sara Gilbert steps up on 'The Conners,' lets go of 'The Talk': 'You get a bit of your life back' "It will remain true to their storyline, what happens to them in the final episode," she told the outlet. "But, it's a very short amount of time to wrap up this many seasons of a family that's covered decades." "The Conners," which also stars John Goodman and Sara Gilbert, follows an eponymous fictional working-class family as they navigate the struggles of daily life and an ever-tightening budget. A second act for "Roseanne," the series imagines the family at the heart of the original show but without the matriarch, who was played by Roseanne Barr. Barr's controversial comments on Twitter, now X, led to the original reboot of the show being canceled in 2018 and later reimagined as "The Conners." The spin-off has enjoyed widespread success, but as it winds down don't expect "something wacky or kind of culminating" to happen during the finale, Metcalf's co-star Lecy Goranson warns. "It's just not really our style. Our show is about real people and real-life situations, so I feel like we don't need to do that," she told People. Goranson, who plays Becky Conner, says she's not really ready to say goodbye. "I'm already thinking of the next thing for all of us, including the crew," she told the outlet. "I'm an optimist and I'm thinking, 'How do I keep us all together?' I just refuse to believe that it's done." When is 'The Conners' finale? The final six episodes of the show began premiering on ABC on March 26 and will air Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.

Sara Gilbert claims ‘Big Bang Theory' writers ‘hit a wall' with her character: ‘I would have done more at that time'
It ended not with a bang but with a whimper. Sara Gilbert, who played Dr. Leslie Winkle on 'The Big Bang Theory,' still has questions about her character's ending. During an appearance on The Official Big Bang Theory Podcast, host Jessica Radloff asked if Gilbert would have done more episodes, or if she'd be open to starring in the show's new spinoff. Advertisement 'Yeah I would do more. I would have done more at the time,' Gilbert replied. 'I think the writers kind of hit a wall with the character, probably also because she leaves these dynamics quickly, you know, then kind of like, well, what do you do now? She's wired like that, and she left, and then there's no more story there, really.' She added, 'But yeah it was a blast, and I like to work, so I'm always happy to show up.' It spawned two spinoffs: 'Young Sheldon,' which aired for seven seasons from 2017 to 2024, and 'Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage,' which premiered in October and has been renewed for a second season. It was also a great way to add female scientists, because Leslie was at the university as well.' Series creator Chuck Lorre already had a history with Gilbert from 'Roseanne.' Galecki also played Gilbert's love interest on that show, and the actors briefly dated in real life. 'But we were never looking for a permanent, everlasting relationship for Leonard because we always thought he would date Penny [Kaley Cuoco] on and off,' he explained. 'We weren't looking to find a permanent girlfriend for him. Sara Gilbert hoisted her home in a historic area of Los Angeles up for sale, while actor Eric McCormack put his longtime digs in Toluca Lake on the market, and Maroon 5 bassist Sam Farrar added to his real estate portfolio with a new spot in Studio City. As Sara Gilbert nears the final installment of The Conners—teasing a 'really satisfying ending' to the show's seven-season run—the actress/producer is also looking to shut the door on her modern farmhouse-style abode in L.A.'s Hancock Park neighborhood. Gilbert is asking just under $11 million for the six-bedroom, seven-bath residence, which she scooped up back in early 2016 for $6.8 million, while still married to songwriter Linda Perry. Resting on a third of an acre overlooking the Wilshire Country Club golf course, the nearly 6,400-square-foot, three-level spread is spotlighted by a lofty primary suite sporting a massive soaking tub, plus a private balcony overlooking the backyard pool and spa. An upstairs family room sits alongside a luxe primary suite, while the woodsy grounds host meandering pathways leading to terraced decks.
