Justin Timberlake fans gutted after Isle of Wight set 'not allowed' on TV

Metro4 hours ago

Justin Timberlake fans hoping to watch his Isle of Wight Festival performance on Sky were left disappointed on Sunday night.
The American popstar, 44, has four UK number one singles to his name and was one of the biggest names who headlined the festival in 2025.
He was joined at the top of the bill over the weekend by the likes of legendary Police frontman Sting and Welsh chart-topping band Stereophonics.
Fans who hadn't been able to see the Rock Your Body hitmaker in person had hoped to catch coverage of his set on Sky Arts, which now has a partnership with the festival.
But they were made to go without on Sunday night when it was confirmed live on air that Sky Arts wouldn't be able to broadcast Justin's set from Seaclose Park.
Edith Bowman, hosting Sky's TV coverage from the festival, let fans and viewers know that the channel wasn't allowed to broadcast any footage from Justin's set.
While an official statement wasn't read out on air, users on social media and dedicated TV forums speculated as to the reasons why the SexyBack singer's set was kept private.
@MissTracey_Dav commented on X: 'Edith Bowman has confirmed Sky are not allowed to show the Justin Timberlake set – he'll never get booked for Glastonbury then!'
@DarryBunne said: 'Sky Arts not showing the Justin Timberlake set tonight at the Isle of Wight Festival (through no fault of theirs by all accounts).'
Elsewhere, @TheGlamaMama explained her disappointment: 'Gutted that Sky Arts aren't broadcasting Justin Timberlake. Why?'
On Facebook, Edward Coppock asked: 'Anyone one know why they're not showing the final day Isle of Wight Festival headline act Justin Timberlake on Sky TV on Sky Arts tonight?'
On the Digital Spy forums, user Dodrade asked, 'Are Sky showing Justin Timberlake's set tonight? He isn't listed on the EPG?' to which they were told that the set would not be broadcast.
ManUtdFan17 told Dodrade, 'Nope. Edith just confirmed at start of broadcast,' before speculating whether the decision had been made by Justin's team.
FlakeWhip then expanded the discussion to speculate that 'certain acts insist on not being televised, or having control over what is televised, if they so wish'.
This weekend will see Neil Young headline Glastonbury, with fans of the legendary rock musician unsure whether his set from the Pyramid Stage will go out on the BBC. More Trending
Earlier this year, the 79-year-old music icon surprised everyone by saying he was pulling out of the festival after finding out that the BBC was a 'partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do things in a way we were not interested in'.
However, Neil retracted that statement and said: 'Due to an error in the information received, I had decided to not play the Glastonbury festival, which I always have loved.
'Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing! Hope to see you there! Love, Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts'

BBC moves ‘Today at Wimbledon' highlights show to permanent graveyard slot

The BBC's Today at Wimbledon programme has effectively become 'Yesterday at Wimbledon' for television viewers after being moved to a graveyard slot by the corporation. The traditional highlights programme for each day's play has ordinarily aired at either 8pm or 9pm on BBC2. But the first edition of the programme on day one of this summer's Championships has been scheduled for 11.55pm as part of what Telegraph Sport can reveal is a permanent move to a similar slot. That is despite the BBC airing shows that include repeats of Your Garden Made Perfect, The Pembrokeshire Coast: A Wild Year, and Upstart Crow in the 8pm-10.30pm timeslot next Monday. A BBC spokesperson told Telegraph Sport that Today at Wimbledon would still be shown at its traditional time on iPlayer, while describing the television broadcast as a 'repeat'. But many viewers, particularly in remote areas, may not have access to iPlayer or the BBC website, with Today at Wimbledon the only means by which they can catch up on the day's play. The corporation's commitment to elite tennis came under scrutiny earlier this month when it twice failed to show Emma Raducanu and Katie Boulter in the doubles at Queen's. BBC 2 aired two-year-old editions of Homes Under The Hammer and Bargain Hunt instead of the British pair's quarter-final defeat against Lyudmyla Kichenok and Erin Routliffe, footage from which was not even available on the corporation's website for the majority of the contest. That was despite complaints over its failure to broadcast the opening win by 'Boultercanu' over Wu Fang-hsien and Jiang Xinyu. The BBC will on Tuesday finally announce its commentary line-up for this year's Wimbledon amid growing anticipation over whether Sir Andy Murray will join the team. As revealed by Telegraph Sport, Nick Kyrgios will not be returning to work for the corporation this summer following a stint 12 months ago that provoked outrage after he admitted assaulting an ex-girlfriend. Kyrgios, who will not play at Wimbledon due to injury for a third straight year, hit out at the BBC's decision, telling The Guardian it was 'their loss more than mine'.

EastEnders' Max Bowden seen kissing new girlfriend ahead of surprise soap return

EastEnders star Max Bowden was seen kissing a co-star as they seemed to confirm their relationship prior to his return to the BBC soap as Ben Mitchell Max Bowden was spotted planting a kiss on his new girlfriend ahead of his shock return to the EastEnders lineup later this year. The actor who plays Ben Mitchell on the long-running BBC soap was spotted locking lips with co-star Tori Allen-Martin. The duo had shared the stage together in the musical Midnight Cowboy and appear to be getting closer. The 30-year-old kissed his fellow star on her birthday. ‌ The image shared to Instagram showed Tori wrapping her arms around the actor as he leaned in for a peck. The sweet image seemingly confirmed the pair's relationship status after sources claimed they had "hit it off pretty much straight away". ‌ The insider told The Sun: "They have the same sense humour and Max was always making her laugh, they just got each other. Neither was looking for romance, it just kind of happened." They added that the duo are "having a lot of fun together". Tori, 39, is best known for her appearance on BBC's Here We Go sitcom. She also plays a role on London Kills, where she takes on the part of trainee detective Billie Fitzgerald. Max, meanwhile, is known for being the most recent actor to portray the role of Ben Mitchell in EastEnders. He left Walford in 2023, with his partying lifestyle said to have been a key factor. ‌ However, he is now readying himself for a return to Albert Square with new boss of the soap Ben Wadey up for giving him another chance. Last month it was claimed he would be the latest in a line of faces from the past returning. Recently, Zoe Slater, played by Michelle Ryan, made a brief comeback. However, after shocking fans with her return, the short-lived stint quickly saw her disappear again. It's not yet known how long Max will remain on the soap this time around, with it said to be a short spell to start with. There is reportedly scope for a permanent return, though. ‌ The star was axed the BBC soap in December 2023 after playing Ben Mitchell for five years. His final scenes played out in April the following year as his character left the show after being arrested for an international crime, and is now in prison in America. Ben is still mentioned from time to time. Every now and then Phil, who recently went through a mental health crisis, picks up the phone to speak to his son. A source recently claimed to the Sun of the reported return: 'Ben had a list of characters he wanted to bring back and Ben Mitchell was one. It's taken a little while to sort out but Max will be back filming on Albert Square later this year. 'Ben wanted to meet Max and see where his head was at," the source continued before revealing that the new boss had been to see the actor in the musical Midnight Cowboy.

Pop star's Glasto set CANCELLED after overcrowding fears

A British pop star's intimate Thursday night set at Glastonbury has been cancelled. PinkPantheress - real name Victoria Beverley Walker - was scheduled to play a 30 minute slot on the Levels stage in Silver Hayes at 11pm. However, fans have clocked a lineup change on the official app just two days before the festival site opens. Now, Roza Terenzi will play 10.30pm to midnight, in between a Confidence Man DJ set and Marie Davidson. All is not lost for PinkPantheress fans though as they can still catch the 24-year-old on the Woodies Stage at 7.30pm on Friday. Fans have reacted to the reshuffle on Reddit, with one writing: "Was going to be dangerously rammed." Another said: "Probably for the best, having anything remotely popular on the stage (especially on Thursday) is always a recipe for disaster." A third posted: "Could have seen that coming, why even book it then." The Sun has contacted Glastonbury for comment. The up-and-coming star has 2.6m followers on Instagram and found fame after breaking out from social media app TikTok. She's had a top 10 in the UK singles and album charts, respectively, and been nominated for three Brit Awards. Rock legend 'gives away' he's Glastonbury's mystery performer as he flies into UK days before festival Lineup aside, the other big talking point ahead of the festival is the Glastonbury weather forecast. It has been subject to notoriously unpredictable weather over the course of it's 50 year history, but this year's revellers look like they'll luck out. When Britpop veterans Supergrass kick off the Pyramid stage at 12pm on Friday, the Met Office is predicting temperatures of 22C. By the time The 1975 headline the main stage at 10:15pm, temperatures will have dropped to 17C. The chance of rain remains low throughout the day at around 10 to 20 per cent. Saturday is expected to bring similarly warm temperatures, reaching highs of 23C. The festival is set to finish on a high, with temperatures climbing to 24C. 3 Glastonbury: Pyramid Stage Line-up 2025 FRIDAY The 1975 - 22:15 - 23:45 Biffy Clyro - 20:15 - 21:15 Alanis Morissette - 18:15 - 19:15 TBA - 16:55 - 17:30 Burning Spear - 15:00 - 16:00 CMAT - 13:30 - 14:30 Supergrass - 12:00 - 13:00 SATURDAY Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts - 22:00 - 23:45 Raye - 20:00 - 21:00 Patchwork - 18:15 - 19:15 John Fogerty - 16:30 - 17:30 The Script - 15:00 - 16:00 Brandi Carlile - 13:30 - 14:30 Kaiser Chiefs - 12:00 - 13:00 SUNDAY Olivia Rodrigo - 21:45 - 23:15 Noah Kahan - 19:45 - 20:45 Nile Rodgers and Chic - 18:00 - 19:00 Rod Stewart - 15:45 - 17:15 The Libertines - 14:00 - 15:00 Celeste - 12:30 - 13:30 The Selecter - 11:15 - 12:00
