‘Jake's paying me now': Savannah Marshall picks Jake Paul's corner, leaves Tommy Fury in the past

Savannah Marshall is officially back in the boxing ring, and this time, she's doing it as part of
Jake Paul
's growing women's roster. The former undisputed world champion is preparing for a major return with a unified title fight against Shadasia Green, and she's made one thing clear: her loyalty now lies with her new boss, even if that risks ruffling old feathers.
Marshall, 34, once sparred extensively with Tommy Fury during their rise through the British boxing ranks. But in an exclusive with The Sun's Jack Figg, she laughed off the potential awkwardness of now backing Fury's former rival.
'Jake's paying me now, so I know where my bread's buttered now!' she quipped.
Jake Paul, 28, famously suffered his first and only boxing defeat to Fury in 2023 via split decision in Saudi Arabia, but has bounced back with five straight wins, most recently against
Mike Tyson
in a Netflix-streamed bout watched by over 100 million people.
'I watched the Mike Tyson one and I think I watched when he boxed Mike Perry. So I've seen a few,' Marshall said. 'I watched that one [Paul vs Fury] as well. I always forget about that. So look, I've watched quite a few. I'm a bit of a fan.'
From cage to canvas: Marshall's comeback story
Marshall's bout against Green will mark her first boxing appearance in a year and comes after a brief but victorious foray into mixed martial arts. In July 2024, she competed and won under MMA rules before deciding to return to the squared circle, this time with Paul's Most Valuable Promotions.
In an exclusive interview with The Independent's Alex Pattle, Marshall opened up about the transition back to boxing, reflecting on a decorated past and a meaningful new challenge.
'I've had trouble getting on shows and that sort of thing and this has come about and it's for the unified world title, which is brilliant,' she said.
'I'm really happy. She's [Shadasia Green] a formidable opponent. She's strong, she can whack.
And to be honest, I believe it would be one of the better fights on the show.'
The bout will take place on the undercard of the highly anticipated trilogy clash between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor at Madison Square Garden, adding another historic venue to Marshall's already impressive career résumé, which includes headlining Britain's first-ever all-female card at the O2 Arena in 2022 and fights in Las Vegas and York Hall.
Her clash with Green will give Marshall the chance to reclaim the WBO super-middleweight title, one of the belts she relinquished during her absence from boxing. The fight is set for July 12, and marks a fresh chapter for a fighter who has already been an Olympian, a two-weight world champion, and an undisputed titleholder.

Marshall's fight is just one part of a blockbuster summer schedule for Jake Paul. The YouTuber-turned-boxer returns to action himself on June 28 in a cruiserweight bout against former middleweight world champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.,

Then, two weeks later, Paul's MVP promotions will host the Taylor vs Serrano trilogy fight, with Marshall vs Green set to be one of the top co-main attractions.
For Marshall, this return isn't just about titles, it's about momentum, visibility, and embracing her prime while it lasts.
And for Jake Paul, adding a fighter of her calibre only boosts the legitimacy of his women's boxing roster.
