Police inquiry after fan appeared to strike player
The alleged incident happened on Friday night, during the match that saw the teams draw 1-1 as they kicked off their Championship season at St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park.
After forward George Hirst scored a penalty in injury time, Ipswich's celebrations led to a melee involving several players from both sides, during which Taylor was allegedly assaulted.
In a statement, Blues bosses said they were aware of the incident and had a "zero-tolerance policy towards violent and anti-social behaviour inside or around our stadium".
On Sunday, West Midlands Police told the BBC they were liaising with the club and "reviewing CCTV footage to establish the full circumstances".
The club added they would support officers and take appropriate action once the investigation concluded.

Wissa to miss Brentford's Premier League opener amid interest from other clubs
LONDON (AP) — Brentford striker Yoane Wissa will not be included in the squad for the team's opening Premier League game against Nottingham Forest amid uncertainty over his future at the London club, manager Keith Andrews said on Thursday. Wissa left Brentford's training camp in Portugal in early July and stayed away from the squad after a bid by Newcastle was rejected, returning to first team training only last week. The 28-year-old Congo international was sixth in the Premier League scoring list last season with 19 goals and formed a strong partnership with Bryan Mbeumo, who netted 20 but has since moved to Manchester United. Andrews, who took over at Brentford after replacing Thomas Frank in June, said he has made the decision to leave out Wissa for Sunday's game. 'It has been a very disrupted preseason and the interest in Yoane is very clear,' Andrews said. 'As a head coach, I want Yoane to be in the building and be a part of the first team and the squad. I see that. But I'm very understanding of his situation. I have a very good relationship with him, and that will persist. But we have to focus on the players who are ready.' Asked if Wissa is likely to stay at Brentford, Andrews said: 'I don't know. It's very hard to know. 'I know what I would like to happen, I would like Wissa to be part of the first team squad. Where that will end, I'm not sure." ___ AP soccer:

ATP men's tennis tour says its profit-sharing plan is adding $18 million in prizes for 2024
LONDON (AP) — An extra $18.3 million in prize money will be paid by the ATP men's tennis tour to players based on their performances at last year's nine Masters 1000 tournaments under a profit-sharing plan introduced in 2022. The ATP said Thursday that amount is an increase from the $6.6 million profit-sharing bonus from Masters events in 2023. By adding in the profit-sharing amount, overall compensation for ATP players in 2024 rises to a record $261 million, the ATP said. The expanded Masters tour stops — with men and women playing at the same event, larger draws and lengthier tournament schedules — have drawn criticism from players for being too long. The backdrop to all of this is demands from some athletes for more money and more say in the sport. The Professional Tennis Players' Association, a group co-founded by Novak Djokovic, filed a class-action antitrust suit in March against the ATP, the WTA women's tour, the International Tennis Federation and the International Tennis Integrity Agency, calling them a 'cartel.' ___ AP tennis:
