Two Chinese nationals detained for trespassing in restricted KL area
Wangsa Maju district police chief ACP Mohammad Lazim Ismail confirmed the arrest of the men, both in their 20s.
The suspects were caught flying a drone near a football field within the restricted zone.
Security personnel apprehended them before handing them over to the Wangsa Maju district police headquarters.
Authorities seized several items, including drones and memory cards, during the arrest.
Mohammad Lazim stated that the suspects had valid travel documents but claimed they were following employer instructions.
The duo reportedly did not know the motive or purpose behind the drone recording.
Both individuals were charged under Sections 3(a) and 4 of the Official Secrets Act for spying and documenting in restricted areas.
The charges were read in Mandarin at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court yesterday.
The accused pleaded not guilty, and bail was denied by Judge Izralizam Sanusi.
The court set Sept 11 for the appointment of lawyers and submission of documents. - Bernama

Chinese national detained for allegedly injuring Immigration officer at KLIA
PUTRAJAYA: A Chinese national was arrested after allegedly behaving aggressively and injuring an Immigration counter officer during a departure check at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1, yesterday. The incident occurred at 7.40pm when the woman, accompanied by a man and two children, approached the counter for immigration clearance. The officer on duty discovered that they had no records of entry into Malaysia and referred the matter to a supervisor for further verification. The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (MCBA) said the suspect became agitated when instructed to allow other passengers to proceed while checks were carried out. She reportedly hurled abuse at the officer, pulled at her headscarf, and pushed her head towards a pillar in front of the counter. "A brief scuffle ensued, and the suspect refused to calm down despite repeated instructions. MCBA enforcement officers then called in the Aviation Security (AVSEC) team to diffuse the situation," MCBA said in a statement today. The officer sustained swelling around her left eye, a headache on the right side of her head, and body aches, and was subsequently referred to Cyberjaya Hospital for treatment. A police report has been lodged, and the suspect remains in custody for investigation under Section 186 of the Penal Code for obstructing a public servant in the discharge of their duties, Section 332 for causing injury to a public servant, and Section 353 for using criminal force to deter a public servant from performing their duty.

RM695,000 lost to online investment scam in Tangkak
TANGKAK: A 60-year-old woman lost RM695,375 after falling victim to an online investment scam that was impersonating a global investment management firm. Tangkak OCPD Supt Roslan Mohd Talib said the victim came across the offer on Facebook and contacted the suspect via WhatsApp. She was instructed to download an app via a link sent by the suspect. "Lured by promises of 100% returns, the victim made 16 transfers to four mule accounts between July 2 and Aug 13," he said in a statement on Thursday (Aug 14). The victim lodged a police report on Thursday after realising she had been scammed, with the case now being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. – Bernama

Two Men Held Over Attempted And Lone Robberies In Melaka
MELAKA, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Police have arrested two men over alleged attempted and solo robberies in two separate incidents in Melaka Tengah recently. Melaka Tengah district police chief ACP Christopher Patit said that in the first case, on Aug 2, police were alerted at around 11.15 pm to an attempted robbery using a long machete at a 24-hour mini market on Jalan Tun Sri Lanang. 'Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Criminal Investigation Division of the Melaka Tengah district police headquarters (IPD) arrested a 47-year-old man not far from the scene. 'Police also seized a long machete measuring about 59 centimetres, along with a motorcycle, a helmet and a crossbody bag,' he said at a press conference at the Melaka Tengah IPD today. Christopher said the suspect, who had been released from prison last February, admitted committing the act, claiming he had not eaten for two days. 'The suspect, who is also homeless, has seven previous records for various criminal and drug-related offences,' he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 393 of the Penal Code. In the second case, Christopher said a 20-year-old man has been detained to assist in the investigation of a roadside robbery in Pantai Puteri, Tanjung Kling, on July 29. He said police were alerted around 3.50 am to a robbery involving a man and his girlfriend. Acting on intelligence, Christopher added that police arrested the suspect on Aug 5 at about 12.30am and seized a motorcycle with a fake registration number, along with a helmet and a mobile phone.
