When most people at 71 are preparing to wind down, Jaipur's Tarachand Agarwal decided to chase a dream he had long set aside. On July 6, when the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) announced the CA Final 2025 results, Agarwal's name wasn't just among the 14,247 candidates who cleared the exam; it became the most talked-about.
A retired banker from the erstwhile State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur (SBBJ), Agarwal didn't return to academics for a job or a promotion. His motivation came from a deeply personal place, his granddaughter. As she began preparing for her CA exams, Tarachand found himself drawn back to books, ledgers, balance sheets, and tax codes.
'Where there is a will, there is a way," wrote CA Nikhilesh Kataria, who shared Agarwal's journey on LinkedIn. The post quickly went viral, earning Agarwal the affectionate title of 'Dadaji Hero" online. 'It is amazing to become a CA at 71, there is no age to learn," commented one user. Another said, 'Not everyone has this courage." The comment section flooded with admiration and applause, as thousands drew inspiration from a man who defied convention.

Agarwal, by his own admission, did not plan to sit for the exam when he first picked up the books. He began studying only to support his granddaughter. But somewhere along the way, he realised his long-buried dream was still alive. Despite battling age-related fatigue and a weakening memory, he persevered and passed one of India's most demanding professional exams.
While this year's CA Final results also saw Ranjan Kabra from Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, secure All India Rank 1 with 516 marks (86%) out of 600, it is Agarwal's story that has stolen hearts. Also in the top three are Nishtha Bothra (AIR-2) and Manav Rakesh Shah (AIR-3), but social media clearly has one favourite – the 71-year-old grandfather who refused to let age define him.
Tarachand's life before CA was already rich in accomplishment. Yet, this milestone has given it new meaning. His journey stands in sharp contrast to the endless online chatter about elite packages from IITs and IIMs, or UPSC toppers making it at 25.

Last Updated: New Delhi, Jul 18 (PTI) Healthy snacking brand Farmley expects revenue to nearly double to Rs 600-700 crore in the current financial year, driven by growing demand for nutritious snacks, the company said on Friday. The Noida-headquartered startup, founded in 2017 by two Indian Institute of Technology alumni, reported a revenue of Rs 370 crore during FY 2024-25. 'We aim for Rs 600-700 crore revenue in the current fiscal with expansion of our presence in both offline and online channels," the company's CEO and co-founder Akash Sharma told PTI at a healthy snacking summit. Farmley plans to invest Rs 40-50 crore in a new factory near Noida to boost production capacity, with the facility expected to be operational next year, Sharma said. The company hopes to achieve profitability in the current financial year. The firm's product portfolio includes dry fruits, seeds, healthy snacks, savouries and ready-to-eat mixes, focusing on quality, nutrition and affordability. A company report released on Friday showed roasted and flavoured dry fruits were the most preferred savoury snack among 36 per cent of respondents, while 19 per cent specifically chose makhana, a type of puffed lotus seed. Over 55 per cent of survey participants said they actively seek clean, preservative-free snacks, while 52 per cent prefer resealable, eco-conscious packaging. Nearly 45 per cent of consumers favour portable snack formats like dry fruit-based desserts and energy bars. I-T dept cautions public against phishing emails for tax refunds

In a post on X, the I-T department said it never asks for bank details or personal information of a taxpayer via email. Only In Pakistan: Journalist Criticises Government But Parrot Sellers Pay The Price

The issue first surfaced in April when 29-year-old parrot seller Rozi Khan, based in Karachi, discovered his bank account had been shut down. After completing a routine sale in Islamabad, he tried to withdraw money but received an 'Invalid bank account" message at the ATM. His bank manager later informed him that the account was frozen on 10 April under an FIA directive, Pakistan-based The Friday Times reported. 'I sell birds to all sorts of people," Rozi told the outlet. 'I had no idea that selling parrots to a journalist could lead to this." The freezes are not limited to Rozi. Sellers in Lahore, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, and other cities have also found their accounts blocked after trading with Toor. One such seller, 60-year-old businessman Nadeem Nasir from Lahore, said that his account was frozen without warning after a cheque unexpectedly bounced, Al Jazeera reported. When he contacted FIA officials, they questioned him about Asad Ali Toor. 'I have known Asad for the last five years and have developed good relations with him," Nasir said. 'But the last time he purchased parrots from me was in 2023 and early 2024. Since then, there has been no business transaction between us." Asad Ali Toor is a well-known YouTuber and outspoken critic of the government, boasting over 335,000 subscribers. He has a noted passion for rare parrots and reportedly spends over Rs 50,000 per month on their care. While Toor's bank accounts, along with those of his parents, brother, and cousin, were frozen, sellers who have dealt with him also suffered similar restrictions. Toor learned of the bank freeze after a cousin alerted him. 'It's not just me," he said. 'Even people who sold me birds are being punished. It's absurd." Neither the FIA nor other Pakistani authorities have publicly commented on the matter or announced any formal charges related to the freezes.
