There's something inherently unforced about Aditya Roy Kapur. He doesn't chase the spotlight, yet it often finds him — especially when it comes to playing the man women fall for on screen. From the aching vulnerability of Aashiqui 2 to the millennial charm of Ok Jaanu, Aditya has grown into a romantic icon not by exaggerating emotion but by wearing it lightly.
What sets Aditya apart in an industry that thrives on intensity is his innate ease. He doesn't overplay his roles — whether it's the dark complexity of Malang or the breezy sincerity of Ludo, his performances strike that rare balance between understated and unforgettable. Romance, in his world, doesn't need grand declarations — it simmers in silences, glances and quiet heartbreak.

Mohit Suri Reveals Why He Chose Faheem Over Arijit Singh For Saiyaara Title Track: 'I've Moved On From...'

Last Updated: Mohit Suri reveals why he chose Faheem Abdullah over Arijit Singh for Saiyaara's title song. "Arijit represents a cinema I did 14 years ago," he says. Director Mohit Suri has once again proven that his instinct for spotting generational voices is razor-sharp. From introducing the soul-stirring vocals of KK and Arijit Singh in his early soundtracks to now betting on a complete newcomer, Faheem, for Saiyaara — Suri remains a filmmaker who lets the music speak first. In a recent interview with NDTV, Suri explained why he didn't turn to Arijit Singh — the voice that became synonymous with his 2013 blockbuster Aashiqui 2 — for the title track of Saiyaara. 'Arijit represents a cinema that I did 14 years ago. I love Arijit, I did use him in one song. But when I was looking for Arijit… I love KK sir, but that wasn't Emraan Hashmi for me in those early films. Then I found Arijit. So only when you seek, shall you find the answer," he said, tracing his journey of musical discovery. That search led him to Faheem, whose raw, haunting voice now defines Saiyaara's sonic identity. 'I'm sick that way," Suri laughed, self-deprecatingly. 'I'm constantly looking for new voices. I thought Faheem was the voice I wanted for Ahaan. You need to keep searching because that's what keeps you relevant. Otherwise, you're just living off yesterday's success." Suri also reflected on the courage it takes to back fresh talent in an industry that thrives on star power. 'Even when I was talking to Akshaye [Widhani, YRF CEO], I said, you have to give yourself room to fail. Failing with someone established is far scarier — it means your fundamentals have changed. But failing with someone new? That's not that bad. At least you tried something different." To which Widhani added, 'Even the success you get with someone new is so much more." That success, in Saiyaara's case, has been massive. The film has raked in nearly ₹300 crore at the box office — and remarkably, without the usual bells and whistles of a heavy promotional campaign. No influencer tie-ups, no pre-release interviews, no media blitz. Debutants Ahaan and Aneet remained under the radar right up to the theatrical release. This stealth marketing, Suri revealed, was a conscious choice made in consultation with Widhani and YRF head Aditya Chopra. 'Until the two actors don't have anything behind them to talk about, the conversation will be filled with questions like 'Who is the prankster on set?' or 'How is it working with Mohit Suri?' It's all redundant stuff," he told Just Too Filmy. With Saiyaara, Suri hasn't just delivered a hit — he's rewritten the rulebook for both casting and campaigning. And at its heart lies a voice that was unknown until a few months ago — but now, it's impossible to forget. NDTV Exclusive: Mohit Suri On Choosing Faheem Abdullah For Saiyaara Title Song Over Arijit Singh: "Arijit Represents A Cinema That I Did 14 Years Ago"

New Delhi: Director Mohit Suri has always had an ear for voices that define a generation, be it KK, Arijit Singh, or now, newcomer Faheem. While Arijit rose to fame with Suri's Aashiqui 2, the filmmaker has now placed his bet on a new voice for his latest hit, Saiyaara, and it's paying off. Speaking to NDTV, Suri explained why he didn't go with Arijit Singh for Saiyaara's title track, despite their historic association. "Arijit represents a cinema that I did 14 years ago. I love Arijit, I did use him in one song. But when I was looking for Arijit... I love KK sir, but that wasn't Emraan Hashmi for me in those early films. Then I found Arijit. So only when you seek, shall you find the answer." Faheem, the fresh voice behind Saiyaara's viral title track, is Suri's newest find, one he believes reflects his constant search for something new. "I am sick that way," he laughed. "I'm constantly looking for new voices, constantly at it. I thought Faheem was the voice I wanted for Ahaan. You need to keep searching because that's what keeps you relevant. Otherwise, you're just living off yesterday's success." Suri also stressed the importance of taking creative risks, especially with new talent. "Even when I was talking to Akshaye [Widhani, YRF CEO], I said, you have to give yourself room to fail. Failing with someone established is far scarier it means your fundamentals have changed. But failing with someone new? That's not that bad. At least you tried something different." To that, Widhani added, "Even the success you get with someone new is so much more."

The Mohit Suri directorial will mostly cross the Rs 300 mark today, which means in just 17 days, which is nothing less than historic. Not only fans and audiences, Saiyaara garnered praise from celebs like Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, Aamir Khan, Mahesh Babu, Arjun Kapoor, Ameesha Patel, Siddharth Anand, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Karan Johar, Anurag Basu and Anil Kapoor, among others, for its storyline, direction and performances. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Before the release of the movie, director Mohit Suri spoke about Saiyaara's comparison with Aashiqui 2 in an interview with Firstpost. He said, 'When I made Zeher, they said it looked like Murder. When I made Ek Villain, they said it looked like Murder 2. When I made Malang, they said it looked like Ek Villain. When I made Aashiqui 2, they said it looked like Woh Lame and Rockstar. So I think when I go ahead and make my next film, they'll say it looks like Saiyaara. I think when they're comparing it to my own work rather than somebody else's, it's good.' Despite the arrival of new releases in the form of Ajay Devgn-Mrunal Thakur starrer Son of Sardaar 2 and Siddhant Chaturvedi-Triptii Dimri's Dhadak 2, \_Saiyaara\_ has the potential to remain steady in its third week at the box office.
