KOTA KINABALU (July 22): The Konvoi Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2025 will traverse 2,500 kilometers, stopping at 75 locations across Sabah over 20 days from August 5 to 23.
Sabah Information Director Jainisah Mohd Noor stated that the launch of KMJG 2025, organized by the Sabah Department of Information (JAPEN), will be officiated by the Sabah Chief Minister.
The convoy aims to engage communities directly in this year's National Day and Sabah Day celebrations.
'The KMJG 2025 launch will take place on Friday, August 1 2, starting at 7:30am at the Kota Kinabalu Community Hall. Twenty vehicles and 60 participants from various departments and strategic partner agencies will join the convoy,' she said after an interview session for the 'Kami Bah Ini' (KBI) program at RTM TV Studio on Monday.
'This year's convoy emphasizes the special theme 'Malaysia MADANI: Caring for the People,' with program content focused on serving communities through direct agency services, community activities, skills workshops, and strategic multi-stakeholder involvement. KMJG 2025 features engaging activities such as the People's Feast, MADANI Spirit, Info Busking, National Day Mural Painting, Wayang Pacak (street screenings), and skills workshops – all highlighting inclusivity and public participation,' she added.
Jainisah also announced that convoy participants will continue the '1 House 1 Jalur Gemilang' (1 House 1 Malaysian Flag) initiative, encouraging all citizens to fly the national flag at homes, offices, government buildings, private vehicles, and government premises. The initiative targets seven key clusters: education, higher education, health, security, community, industry, and government agencies.
'It is hoped that local communities will respond to this call by hoisting the Jalur Gemilang as a symbol of patriotic spirit and love for the country,' she explained.
The public can obtain further details about KMJG 2025 through official channels, including the portal www.merdeka360.my, live Facebook and TikTok broadcasts, and media coverage by RTM, Bernama, and other local outlets.
JAPEN Sabah will also provide daily live updates on social media.
Jainisah expressed hope that Sabahans would jointly ignite the spirit of patriotism by flying the Jalur Gemilang and participating in KMJG 2025 activities.
Meanwhile, Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Sri Dr Sabin Samitah said the number of contingents for the National Day parade will be limited to prevent it from taking too long.
'Last year, it was observed that several contingents represented similar activities or groups, leading to some public complaints as they were not pleased with that situation,' he explained in an interview by SabahVFM.

No DUN dissolution announcement July 28 - CM's Office

The Sabah State Assembly building. KOTA KINABALU (July 27): Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor will not be announcing the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) on Monday (July 28) to pave the way for the 17th Sabah State Election (PRN17). Public speculation had mounted following the conclusion of Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah's (Gagasan Rakyat) annual general convention at the Sabah International Convention Centre on Sunday. However, an official from the Chief Minister's Office confirmed that Hajiji is scheduled to depart for Jakarta on Monday to attend the annual Malaysia-Indonesia consultation, where matters including the Sulawesi Sea are expected to be discussed. Hajiji also confirmed to reporters on Sunday that he will be accompanying Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on a working visit to Indonesia starting on Monday. The official was responding to a viral report that claimed Hajiji would announce the dissolution of the State Assembly on July 28. The report further alleged that Hajiji would seek an audience with the Head of State on July 29 or 30 to submit the dissolution letter. It also claimed that the State Assembly Speaker would declare receipt of the dissolution notice on August 1, with the Election Commission (EC) being formally notified on August 4. According to the report, the EC is expected to meet and determine the election dates soon after, with the official announcement slated for August 11. It speculated the following timeline for PRN17: nomination on September 6, early voting on September 15, and polling day on September 20. Political analysts expect the dissolution of the state assembly after the Gagasan Rakyat congress. They speculate that Hajiji is likely to call for polls before National Day on August 31 or after Malaysia Day on September 16. Hajiji had said that he would consult the presidents of all Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) component parties before making any move to dissolve the DUN. The 16th Sabah DUN will be automatically dissolved on Nov 11 this year if it is not dissolved earlier. Under the law, the state election must be held within 60 days after the dissolution.
