Kelsey Grammer reveals sister's harrowing death after being stabbed 42 times
Kelsey Grammer has opened up about his sister's harrowing bid for help after she was stabbed 42 times.
Karen Grammer's body was discovered in Colorado in 1975, at the age of 18, just weeks before her 19th birthday.
In a new book in honor of his sibling, titled Karen: A Brother Remembers, the Frasier actor – who was 20 at the time of her death – unpacked their close bond, and what he remembered from her last days.
According to People Magazine, she had been living in Colorado Springs, but was planning to return home to Florida after the Fourth of July.
Kelsey, who last spoke to her on June 30, 1975, raised the alarm with local authorities shortly after he didn't hear from her again, and then learned of her horrific final moments.
It emerged that, hours after their conversation, she went to the Red Lobster she worked at that evening to meet a friend – when Freddie Glenn and two others pulled up, planning to rob the restaurant.
Spotting Karen, the men pulled out a gun and took her to Freddie's car, who tied her up before they drove her to an apartment and raped her.
Moving her to an alleyway, he stabbed her 42 times and left her for dead.
Despite the extensive injuries, she found the strength to crawl '400ft' to get help at a nearby trailer park, where she succumbed to her condition.
'In my imaginings, the man who found Karen at his doorstep was a 'good Samaritan' of sorts,' Kelsey wrote, via the outlet.
'I stand corrected and disappointed that that man did not attempt to help her but simply called the police after leaving her body as it lay…eyes vacant, staring at the sky, her legs still on the steps, her head on the ground and a clenched fist above her head with a single finger pointing – somewhere or nowhere – just pointing.
'She had been on her knees, crawling her way. Seeking help with her last ounce of life. The coroner noted that through a gaping wound in her neck, he could see all the way into Karen's lung. I had been right in saying he almost decapitated her.
'Freddie Glenn punched holes in my sister's body with unimaginable brutality.'
The attacker is currently serving a life sentence after being convicted of her murder – and of other killings in the area. More Trending
His next parole appeal is coming up in two years, and he has has been denied parole four times so far.
Speaking to People, the author shared that he struggled with including the brutality of her death, but is using the pages as 'ammunition to keep Freddie Glenn in jail'.
'You don't want to eat yourself to pieces because you can't forgive somebody,' he added. 'But it's hard to forgive a person who consciously decided they wanted to murder somebody you love.
'This wasn't just some temperance issue with him. It was deliberate. I can give you forgiveness, but you're not going to get out of paying for it.'

Man 'slipped abortion drug into ex's coffee' then did 'sickening act' next
A man has been charged in connection with the death of his ex-girlfriend's unborn child and for allegedly tampering with evidence. According to Parker County Jail records, Texas man Justin Anthony Banta faces charges of attempted capital murder and tampering with physical evidence. In a press release from the Parker County Sheriff's Office, officials stated that the U.S. Department of Justice IT worker's ex-girlfriend accused him of secretly putting abortion-inducing medication, known as 'Plan C', into her drink after unsuccessfully trying to convince her to terminate the pregnancy. The woman told investigators she and Banta were romantically involved in September when she discovered she was pregnant. Banta allegedly offered to pay for an abortion and suggested ordering Plan C pills online. However, she said she told Banta she intended to keep the baby. In October, the woman claimed she met Banta at a coffee shop in Tarrant County, where she suspected he had slipped abortion medication into her drink without her consent. The following day, she experienced fatigue and heavy bleeding and sought emergency medical care. Authorities reported that the woman lost her baby on October 19, and she believes the miscarriage was caused by the medication allegedly administered without her knowledge. During the investigation, officials seized Banta's phone, but alleged he remotely accessed the device and initiated a factory reset - erasing potentially critical evidence. Authorities then issued a warrant for his arrest on two felony charges. Banta was taken into custody last Friday and released the same day after posting bond—$500,000 (£370,537) for the attempted murder charge and $20,000 (£14,818.70) for evidence tampering, according to jail records. The Parker County Sheriff's Office said the case remains open and is pending prosecution, reports PEOPLE. In the UK, a 47-year-old woman who struggled with infertility was left devastated after her husband forced her to get an abortion. She met her husband whilst studying at university, and started trying for a baby just over a decade ago, after dedicating most of their time to their hotshot careers. Medically referred to as a geriatric pregnancy, women over the age of 35 are more likely to experience complications such as gestational diabetes, high blood pressure, miscarriage, and stillbirth. Not put off by their decreased odds and increased risk, the couple allegedly spent the next three years planning their social and work lives around the woman's 'fertile window each month' - but still couldn't get pregnant. In fact, doctors were believed to have said the couple had less than a five per cent chance of falling pregnant. "Even if we tried IVF using my eggs, that number was pushed up to just 9 per cent," the woman said, according to MailOnline. However, the couple were unable to access IVF on the NHS and were told using an egg donor would significantly increase their chances of having a baby. The woman claims she found a clinic in Ukraine that had 'no waiting lists for eggs' and could ensure the donor remained anonymous. She says it costs £4,000 including her flights, accommodation and medical treatment - a huge saving compared to UK facilities. "Two weeks later I took a test and, marvellously, it was positive. I was over the moon," the woman said. "But when I told [my husband] he seemed oddly withdrawn. I put it down to him working long hours and carried on getting excited, planning who to tell first." However, the excitement soon faded after the woman's eight-week scan when her husband allegedly dropped a huge bombshell. He allegedly said he was unsure if he could 'bond' with a child that isn't biologically both of them and said the anonymity of the egg donor made his 'skin crawl'. Then, the husband gave his wife the biggest ultimatum: keep the baby and we'll split. "While I wanted to be a mum, more than that I didn't want to live the rest of my life without him," she said. "I knew perfectly well we'd be over if I carried on. The prospect of bringing up a child on my own seemed bleak. "How would I do it? I've seen so many friends struggle as lone parents, hand on heart I couldn't knowingly do that to myself or my future child. And then there was the most dreaded thought: what if he left me for someone else and had children with her? It was as though a gun were being held to my head." A week later the woman says she terminated the pregnancy without her husband by her side, before taking a week off work to visit her mum in Spain. When she came home, the couple - who are still together - requested the remaining embryos in storage to be destroyed.

Outlander star worlds away from Starz drama in gripping first-look at returning thriller
Lauren Lyle will be back on ITV later this year for another gripping cold case Outlander actress Lauren Lyle is set to reprise her role as Detective Karen Pirie in the highly anticipated second season of ITV's crime drama, as unveiled in a first-look preview. The series, which debuted in 2022, is based on Val McDermid's novels and follows the young detective as she delves into chilling cold cases. The initial three-part season, based on The Distant Echo, consisted of three two-hour episodes that explored a barmaid's murder from 25 years ago. Now promoted to Detective Inspector, Pirie will return later this year to lead another gripping investigation, this time based on McDermid's 2008 novel, A Darker Domain. A captivating synopsis for the upcoming series states: "After her bittersweet success in series one, Karen has been promoted to Detective Inspector and seemingly given the authority she has long been fighting for. "Just as she's getting into the swing of her powerful new role, she is assigned an infamous unsolved case that will put her under intense scrutiny; from her boss, from the media, and ultimately, from sinister forces that would rather the past stayed in the past", reports the Scottish Daily Express. "The 1984 case of Catriona and Adam Grant has confounded investigators and intrigued the public like no other. Catriona, the charming young heiress to a vast oil fortune, and her two year old son Adam, were brutally kidnapped at gunpoint outside a fish and chip shop in Fife. "The ransom notes that followed stirred up an uncontrollable press storm, but when the culprits fell silent, the police faltered, and Catriona and Adam were never seen again. "Now, a man's body has been discovered, with indisputable links to the original kidnap. With the first piece of evidence in decades, Karen must assemble an unbeatable team alongside her sincere and lovable sidekick DC Jason 'Mint' Murray (Chris Jenks) and the brilliant – but romantically complicated – DS Phil Parhatka (Zach Wyatt). "With the international renown of the kidnap and the constant pressure from Catriona's father, Sir Broderick Grant (James Cosmo), the team take on the biggest challenge of their careers to date. As Karen delves deeper into what happened in the autumn of 1984, political grudges and painful secrets reveal themselves, and it soon becomes clear... the past is far from dead." The first-look images promise another must-watch thriller with the Outlander star front and centre. Karen Pirie season two is expected to be another major hit for ITV following its lengthy three-year hiatus. A staggering 6.6 million viewers tuned into the premiere in 2022. Returning from the first series are Jenks and Wyatt plus Steve John Shepherd, Rakhee Thakrar and Emer Kenny. Kenny also returns as writer and executive producer. Jack Stewart, a fellow Outlander star, is set to join the cast for the second series, alongside a stellar line-up including Julia Brown, Mark Rowley, Bridgerton's James Fleet and Mr Selfridge's Tom Mannion. Karen Pirie season 2 premieres this July on ITV1 and ITVX and on Britbox in the USA and Canada this October.

Resurfaced video shows Sean 'Diddy' Combs inviting 13-year-old to after party
A chilling video clip shows the moment a laughing Sean 'Diddy' Combs invites a 13 year old actress to an afterparty he's throwing in 2003. The footage captures Combs extending an invitation to Daveigh Chase, star of The Ring, to join him at an MTV event party, following her award presentation on stage. Combs, who has been held in jail since his high-profile arrest in September 2024, is currently on trial in New York. The music mogul has pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. In the resurfaced clip, Combs asks Daveigh Chase: "Are you coming to the after party tonight?" Combs was at the VMAs alongside Ashton Kutcher to present the 'Best Villain' award, which Chase won. This old clip has re-emerged amidst separate and shocking allegations from an individual claiming she was raped by Combs and another unnamed celebrity at a VMA afterparty three years earlier, when she was just 13. Chase has not made any comment regarding the resurfaced video and there's no evidence suggesting anything inappropriate occurred at the 2003 afterparty. Combs was seen encouraging Chase on stage as she delivered her acceptance speech for her win in the 'Best Villain' category. She bagged the award for her performance in The Ring. She was later snapped alongside Combs and Kutcher at the VH1 Big In '03 event. Over the weekend Combs' legal team called for a mistrial after the third week of his trial concluded. His lawyers make a fresh bid to halt the trial, citing "prosecutorial misconduct". In a letter addressed to Judge Arun Subramanian on Saturday, June 7, the defence claims "the government has presented testimony that it knew or should have known was materially false related to its allegation that Mr. Combs dangled Bryana Bongolan from the balcony of Cassie Ventura's apartment in September 2016." According to PEOPLE, who obtained sight of the correspondence, it stated: "Accordingly, to avoid an unfair conviction in this case the Court should grant a mistrial." The defence team for the Bad Boy Records founder also challenged the credibility of testimony from his former partner Cassie, who alleged she saw Combs dangle Bryana from a balcony. They argue her account is "demonstrably false", pointing to text messages that suggest she only heard about the incident later. The letter further contends: "The incident, as alleged, is disturbing and powerful evidence, and the government has used it to depict Mr. Combs in an extremely negative light, as an angry and dangerous man who terrified Ms. Ventura and her friends." The defence team argued that the prosecution presented photos of Bryana's alleged injuries from the incident, which were claimed to have been taken on 26 September 2016 in Los Angeles, despite "the government has long known" Combs was in New York City between 24-29 September that year. They also accused the prosecution of "repeatedly attempting to disrupt" their line of questioning when they tried to "expose the perjury upon cross-examination. "All of this was highly improper and exacerbated the harm caused by [...] the perjured testimony," the letter continued. "The balcony incident is just one example of prosecutorial misconduct during this trial."
