MLB's opening day is meant to be a time for optimism and excitement, but some fans were already dealing with high levels of frustration Thursday.
Several took to social media to share their displeasure by sharing memes about MLB TV, the subscription-based platform. The platform likely saw an uptick in new users after T-Mobile once again offered a free subscription for the entire season this week as a perk for being a member of the cellular service.
Fans experienced a message on their screen that read, "Network Error – Please check your network connection and try again." The words sat over a photograph from the 2019 National League Division Series of Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw sitting by himself with a disappointed-like posture.
The outage happened around 4 p.m. ET, while many were likely trying to use the platform to take in one of the early games on the schedule.
According to Variety, over 21,000 users complained about the service having issues but that number had dropped within the hour to 2,000 complaints.
MLB and MLB TV have not shared a statement of any kind on social media about the issue as of late Thursday afternoon.
Here's how some fans reacted to the outage.

Dodgers set franchise attendance record, surpassing 2 million fans in just 40 games
LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Dodgers have surpassed 2 million in attendance in just 40 games this season. The defending World Series champions have had 2,026,238 through the gates so far. The team said Wednesday that it's the fastest they've reached that mark in franchise history. Last season, it took 42 games and in 2019, when the Dodgers set their all-time season attendance mark of 3,974,309, it took 43 games.

Former Red Sox Star Xander Bogaerts Faces Backlash Amid Struggles
Former Red Sox Star Xander Bogaerts Faces Backlash Amid Struggles originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Boston Red Sox may have dodged a bullet by not signing Xander Bogaerts to an extension after the 2022 season. The current San Diego Padres' shortstop now has fans calling for his demotion after a brutal start to this season. Advertisement San Diego signed Bogaerts to a deal worth $280 million over 11 years, and the contract has looked increasingly worse as time has gone on. He was expected to be continue as one of the best shortstops in the baseball, but his play has gradually declined in every major category since he joined the team. Bogaerts has hit just .227 this season, with mediocre OPS of just .615 and a WAR of 0.3. It is by far the former Red Sox superstar's worst season since his first full year as an MLB starter. One popular podcast of Padres fans posted this on X, "Losing words to describe Xander Bogaerts. Legit DFA candidate and he's got 8.5 years left," said Devine Sports Gospel. Plenty of other San Diego fans have also been getting on the bandwagon of frustration with Bogaerts, which has become a popular topic of late. Advertisement This is a fall from grace for Bogaerts, who played very well in his first year with the Padres back in 2023. That season he had a .285 batting average with 19 homers and a solid .790 OPS. It was arguably his worst season since 2017, but still a very good year for most hitters. There was a drop-off last season, where Bogaerts slashed a .264 average, .307 on base percentage, and .381 slugging percentage. San Diego Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts (2) between innings against the Atlanta Braves in the first inning at Truist Davis-Imagn Images The fall off since 2022 and even 2023 has become jarring, but there is still some hope in store for Padres fans. Bogaerts has walked 29 times to date and is on pace for this season to be his second most career walks, while he has struck out just 50 times across 71 games. Advertisement That means the 32-year-old is having a strong approach at the plate, even if the hits are not coming. It does not mean he will return to his 2022 form with the Red Sox, a .307 AVG with an .833 OPS, but there may still be hope for results closer to 2023 or 2024. Bogaerts is now a possible trade candidate, but with a contract that big the Padres may just have to wait it out.
