The City of Edmonton is activating its extreme heat protocol until Saturday, as temperatures are supposed to hover around 30 C.
When daytime temperatures are expected to be above 29 C, and 14 C or higher during the night, for three days in a row, the city implements an action plan to help keep vulnerable people safe.
That includes peace officers carrying water bottles to distribute and city facilities accepting people who need a break from the heat.
The extreme heat response will run from 9 a.m. Wednesday to 9 a.m. on Saturday, but could be extended if temperatures remain high.
More information is available online.
