He will make his debut Wednesday evening on On Balance with Leland Vittert.

Cillizza previously was a contributor to Scripps News and, before that, served as political reporter and digital editor-at-large for CNN from 2017-2022. At CNN, he launched the brand The Point with Chris Cillizza. He spent 10 years at the Washington Post, founding the daily political blog The Fix.
Cillizza has a Substack newsletter called So What, and owns the production company Cheney Road Productions. He also hosts a weekly series for Monumental Sports Network called Politics Aside with Chris Cillizza. He has a So What YouTube channel with more than 61,000 subscribers.
Cillizza is the author two books, Power Players: Sports, Politics, and the American Presidency and The Gospel According to The Fix.

Elon Musk has touted the idea of forming a new party in the United States after his public fallout with Donald Trump. The billionaire launched a poll on his social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, asking his 220 million followers whether or not the country needed a new political faction. He suggested it would be the called the "American Party" and would rival the dominant Democratic and Republican parties. He backed a call for Mr Trump to be impeached and replaced by his own vice president JD Vance, just days after leaving DOGE. Mr Musk also alleged that Mr Trump "is in the Epstein files', without providing evidence of being included in documents into the late disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Mr Trump, whose administration promised to release the dossier, has rejected Mr Musk's allegations, telling ABC News that the world's richest man has "lost his mind". He claimed the only reason his former adviser had a 'problem' with the bill was due to slashes to electric vehicle incentives. Mr Trump added that a review of Mr Musk's extensive agreements with the federal government was in order, including $22 billion (£16.2 billion) worth of Space X contracts. Sources familiar with the situation have even suggested the president is considering selling a Tesla Cybertruck Mr Musk gifted him. The public spat has drastically hit Tesla shares, which closed down 14.3 per cent on Thursday, losing about $150 billion (£111 billion) in value.

Now the Trump administration is not only trying to end public media but also attempting to claw back more than $1 billion in public media funds that Congress has already approved. Public media is a bargain by comparison. Third, commercial media companies don't have the incentive to operate in the public's best interest; they do have the incentive to convert eyeballs into revenue sources. For example, in youth programming, the focus is often on the commercials, selling toys and sugary snacks to kids. And content for kids on platforms such as YouTube can range from vapid to dangerous at a time when busy parents often use screen time to supplement entertainment or education. For these parents, it has become exhausting to choose what's OK for their children, and even more exhausting to know which platforms are trustworthy. The truth is, at a time when half of kids don't have access to preschool, federally funded, responsible content is a great investment in the next generation. Lastly, the commercial market has also collapsed for news. According to the Advertisement Access to reliable information is crucial in a democracy. As Bill Moyers once Like libraries and schools, public media offers access to knowledge and critical thinking, which is essential for learning and for democracy. The government should strengthen — not undermine — nonprofit educational media, especially now. I hope that my Dad's call for 'public interest' media prevails, rather than the alternative: an expensive wasteland even more vast — and dangerous — than he could have ever imagined.
