Meta brings AI video editing feature to Meta AI, Edits app
Meta has introduced a generative AI-powered video editing feature in its Meta AI app. This tool enables users to stylise short videos by selecting from a range of preset prompts. As stated by the company, these prompts allow for changes in aspects like clothing, backgrounds, and overall aesthetics. The functionality is also accessible via Meta's Edits app.
WhatsApp is currently testing an AI-based feature that allows users to generate private summaries of unread messages in both individual and group chats. According to WABetaInfo, this tool uses Meta AI and runs within a framework called Private Processing, developed to protect user privacy.
Rockstar Games has announced its next major content update for Grand Theft Auto (GTA) Online. Called Money Fronts, this update will go live on June 17 and will include a new money laundering venture located at Hands On Car Wash. Samsung edges ahead of Apple in super-premium smartphone segment: IDC report
India's smartphone market shipped about 70 million devices in the first half of 2025 with a 0.9 per cent year-over-year growth, according to International Data Corporation (IDC). According to IDC's Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, the second quarter of the year reported growth of 7.3 per cent year-over-year by shipping 37 million smartphones. In what can be called a notable shift in India's smartphone market in the first half of the year, Samsung surpassed Apple in the super-premium segment, devices priced around $800 (about Rs 70,000 and above). According to IDC data, Samsung overtook Apple for the leadership position at 49 per cent and 48 per cent share, respectively. Overall, the super-premium segment grew by over 15.8 per cent, and its share remained stable at 7 per cent. The report revealed that iPhone 16, Galaxy S25/24 Ultra, S25, and iPhone 16 Plus were the key models. Although narrow, Samsung's lead marks a significant milestone, as this is the first time ever that the South Korean smartphone maker has surpassed Apple in the lead in India's ultra-premium category. Based on the report, this growth was largely propelled by the remarkable sales of Samsung Galaxy models such as the S25/S24 Ultra and S25. On the other hand, Apple's position was consolidated by the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus models. Even after falling behind Samsung in the segment overall, Apple's iPhone 16 emerged as the single best-selling smartphone in India in the first half of 2025, accounting for four per cent of all shipments. This indicates that while Samsung got more super premium units collectively, individual consumers continued to favour iPhone 16. According to experts, this shows a competitive and evenly matched high-end market in India, which is also one of the world's fastest-growing smartphone regions. IDC data also shows that India's overall market grew by a meagre one per cent year over year in the first half. In simple words, the first half of the year saw Samsung take a slim but meaningful lead over Apple in India's super-premium smartphone segment. Samsung's performance is also being attributed to its Galaxy S25 lineup, introduced earlier this year, with advanced AI capabilities and sleek design, which seem to have resonated with consumers. On the other hand, iPhone 16's strong showing suggests Apple's continued appeal in the same segment.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak claims YouTube ignored fraudulent Bitcoin promotion
Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has claimed his image was misused in a fraudulent Bitcoin promotion on YouTube, warning that deepfake-style scams are increasingly targeting high-profile technology figures such as Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. Speaking to CBS News, Wozniak said scammers edited an old video of him discussing Bitcoin, adding a decorative frame and a Bitcoin wallet address, alongside a false promise to double any amount sent. The scheme came to light when his wife, Janet, received an email from a victim asking when they would be reimbursed. Some people, he said, reported losing their life savings. 'This is a crime,' Wozniak told the broadcaster, adding that those who witness wrongdoing should act to prevent further harm. According to Wozniak, repeated appeals to YouTube to take down the fraudulent material went unanswered. He said all contact occurred between lawyers, and that even Janet's direct takedown requests were ignored. 'They wouldn't,' he remarked. Wozniak argued the case reflects a wider problem in tackling internet scams, pointing to billions lost each year to cryptocurrency and AI-enabled fraud. He said there is 'not enough muscle' behind efforts to combat such schemes. Reflecting on the broader implications, Wozniak said the internet's early promise of democratising information has been eroded. He criticised the shift that came with the growth of major technology platforms, which rely on tracking user behaviour and selling targeted advertising to generate revenue. While still maintaining a connection to Apple, Wozniak suggested that his concerns over online fraud rarely gain serious attention. 'Nobody buys my voice,' he said, warning that without stronger intervention, scams exploiting public figures will continue to proliferate. In 1976, Wozniak founded the fledgling Apple Computer company along with his more famous business partner Steve Jobs, the acclaimed investor and longtime Apple CEO who died in 2011.
