Rangers have already come through two qualifying rounds, seeing-off Panathinaikos and Viktoria Plzen.

‘You're trying to kill me here' – Kemar Roofe forced to answer question on whether Rangers or Leeds is bigger club
KEMAR ROOFE enjoyed memorable stints with two giants of British football, Leeds United and Rangers. But which club does he think is BIGGER? 4 Kemar Roofe won all three domestic honours with Rangers Credit: PA 4 Roofe had three successful years with Leeds prior to moving to Ibrox Credit: Getty Images - Getty 4 Roofe was quizzed on both clubs while on Undr the Cosh Credit: UNDR THE COSH That was the big question the former Rangers star was faced with as he appeared on a popular podcast. Roofe, 32, spent three years with Leeds between 2016 and 2019, scoring 29 goals in 111 Championship appearances. A £7million move to Belgian giants Anderlecht followed but after just a year he headed for Ibrox in a £4.5m deal. Roofe would play an integral role in Rangers' title triumph in the 2020/21 season with 14 league goals. He also won the Scottish Cup and League Cup as a Light Blues player and featured in the 2022 Europa League Final. Leeds and Rangers are obviously two huge clubs with plenty of pedigree - but Roofe was forced to declare which one he thinks is the BIGGER of the two! The clubs are now linked via their ownership, with Leeds being owned by 49ers Enterprises who also now have a significant stake in Rangers. The striker appeared on Under the Cosh, and was directly asked which club is the biggest. It initially looked like he was going to swerve the question - but instead paused for thought before delivering his answer. It's an answer that Rangers fans will like! Inside Rangers-themed barbers After taking a breath, Roofe said: "Okay. Both of them are massive, massive, massive. "Anywhere I go in the world, literally I will bump into either or Rangers or Leeds. "But fan base wise, I'd probably have to say Rangers because Leeds is just Leeds. "Rangers is people in Glasgow - either obviously support Rangers or Celtic - then outside of Glasgow, Scottish people will either support their local team plus Rangers or Celtic. "You go to Ireland or Northern Ireland, it's one of the two again. "You come to England, they'll have an England team or a Scottish team to support. "So there's more people that seem to support Rangers, there's more scope. "Whereas Leeds fans are living in Leeds pretty much, they're from Leeds. 4 "That's how I'd break it down." He then added: "That's what it comes down to. Rangers have more scope, they have the English people who support their English team and more people will support a Scottish team as well." Roofe's answer was hailed in the studio as being well thought out and constructed. Former footie ace Jon Parkin, who co-hosts the podcast, then tried to probe further, jokingly asking: "Just following on from that then, who did you enjoy playing for more, Leeds or Rangers?" As laughter burst out around the room, smiling Roofe fired back: "You're really trying to kill me here!" Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Liverpool's £25m transfer for star Virgil van Dijk was really excited about is a done deal
Ben Doak is set to leave Liverpool for Bournemouth in a £25million deal and the youngster departs with glowing recommendations from Virgil van Dijk and former boss Jurgen Klopp Liverpool winger Ben Doak is set to formalise a move to Bournemouth for £25million on Monday. And the Cherries are getting a star in the making, according to Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk. Doak, 19, joined Liverpool from Celtic as a 16-year-old in March 2022 for just £600,000 and now the Reds are set to make a staggering profit on the talented youngster. The Scot's eye-catching performances for the club's U18s and U21s caused a wave of excitement at Anfield as he was lavished with comparisons to a young Michael Owen. Liverpool also rejected a £15m bid from Crystal Palace in January. Van Dijk's glowing appraisal came after Doak played just over 60 minutes for the Reds against Austrian side LASK in a Europa League tie back in 2023. The youngster showcased his speed and quick feet as he bamboozled LASK's backline, later drawing huge praise from the Dutch icon and former manager Jurgen Klopp. 'It was a big night for him," Van Dijk said. "It was never going to be easy, it was a difficult pitch, but he could have set up at least two goals in the first half where he went past his man like no one was there. 'Unfortunately nobody was on the end of it. But I am pleased for him and I'm also very excited for him and the future that's coming. So we are really pleased with the night because there were many positives on what was always going to be a tough test." Doak became the fourth-youngest player to appear for the Reds in European competition with his start against LASK. Speaking after the 3-1 win, Klopp also praised the young winger. "If we could have used Ben Doak a little more often, give him the ball a little more, then he could have had more even times on the touchline to cause problems," said Klopp. Rewind to December 2022 and the German also hailed a late cameo from Doak, who assisted Darwin Nunez in a 4-1 thrashing of AC Milan in the Dubai Super Cup. "Ben Doak comes on, 17 years old, and is this kind of natural force, it's really cool to see," Klopp said at the time. "I'm not sure the academy could watch the game tonight but when you see these boys and performing in a game like this, it's cool." After a series of injuries that prevented Doak from making in-roads into the Liverpool first team, he spent last season on loan at Championship club Middlesbrough, scoring three goals and bagging seven assists in 24 appearances. Doak now leaves Merseyside having made 10 senior appearances for Liverpool. Bournemouth were defeated 4-2 by the Reds on Friday night in their opening fixture of the new Premier League season, despite mounting a spirited fightback. Having lost Illia Zabarnyi, Dean Huijsen and Milos Kerkez to Paris St-Germain, Real Madrid and Liverpool respectively, Andoni Iraola spoke about the need for reinforcements after the defeat at Anfield. He claimed the Cherries are "not where they want to be" at the moment. However, the signing of Doak should give Iraola and Bournemouth fans a jolt of excitement, particularly if Van Dijk and Klopp's predictions for the player come to fruition.

Man Utd's Alejandro Garnacho exit plan halted by transfer refusal
Manchester United are prepared to sell Alejandro Garnacho with Chelsea looking to sign him - but they need funds and have rejected a loan approach for Christopher Nkunku as a result Bayern Munich have failed with a loan bid to land Christopher Nkunku - which has been rejected by Chelsea as they seek to raise funds for their pursuit of Alejandro Garnacho. The Manchester United winger is one of two forwards who are being eyed by the Blues - alongside RB Leipzig 's Xavi Simons. And as a result they are not looking to sanction any temporary exits which has seen them reject the German's approach for the Frenchman. Those at Old Trafford are willing to sanction Garnacho's departure with the Argentine falling out of favour. The player himself is keen on a move away to reignite his career and sees Stamford Bridge as the ideal destination. However his move is contingent on a transfer merry-go-round that needs Chelsea to raise capital to continue their recruitment. As a result they have told Bayern, who want to bring Nkunku back to the Bundesliga, that they only want a permanent sale, reports The Times. Bayern remain interested in Nkunku as they need to bolster their attack following the sale Kingsley Coman to Al-Nassr on Friday. But given that they and Chelsea want two different deals, any movement is currently unlikely. Inter Milan are also thought to be interested in Nkunku, but again they have been told that they would need to pursue a permanent move. Leipzig previously considered an approach, but the player is not interest in a return to his former club given they not qualify for the Champions League this season. Nkunku has four years remaining on his contract after joining the Blues in the summer of 2023. He made a £52million switch from Leipzig after scoring 58 times in two seasons. At Chelsea though he's scored just 18 times in 62 games. United remain keen on sell Garnacho and are prepared for an offer from Chelsea. Any sale would be beneficial for those in Manchester as the Argentine, an academy graduate, would represent pure profit, which would aid their PSR figures. Jadon Sancho is another player they want to offload. He, like Garnacho, appears to have little future at Old Trafford currently but he's turned down a move to Roma. The Italians were willing to pay £17m but the winger is still waiting to review his options having been linked with several clubs.
