Yankees 1B Paul Goldschmidt has a right knee sprain and may go on IL
The Yankees will evaluate Goldschmidt during their day off and will decide before Friday's game against the Cardinals if he will be placed on the IL.
'He's dealing with something so we'll see if it's an IL situation,' manager Aaron Boone said after Wednesday's 4-1 loss to Minnesota. 'He was pretty sore last night and this morning. Feels like he's doing quite a bit better right now so we'll see.'
Goldschmidt was injured chasing down a foul pop by Byron Buxton in the third inning of Tuesday's 9-1 victory. Goldschmidt overran the ball along the dirt track near the Yankee dugout and slipped before making the catch on the grass while slightly falling down.
'When I kind of overran it and dove back, hit my knee on the ground I guess,' Goldschmidt said. 'I felt that it was sore yesterday but obviously was able to play through it.'
Goldschmidt stayed in Tuesday's game and hit a double in the seventh before being lifted with the Yankees holding an eight-run lead.
'As I was going to going back to my position, I was like 'that kind of hurt,' but stuff like that happens,' Goldschmidt said. 'So just felt like I could continue to play, which I did and it was fine.'
Goldschmidt, who is hitting .404 off left-handed pitching this year, did not start Wednesday and did not pinch hit when Austin Wells batted and struck out against left-handed reliever Kody Funderburk in the seventh.

Signed to a one-year, $12.5 million contract in December following six seasons with the Cardinals, the former NL MVP is hitting .276 with 10 homers and 40 RBIs in 112 games this season. He also has a .996 fielding percentage and has been charged with three errors in 745 chances this year.
Ben Rice made his 26th start at first base Wednesday and Cody Bellinger has made two starts at first this season. Bellinger has started 273 games at first base during his nine-year career.
'He's been a huge part of his team,' Bellinger said about Goldschmidt. 'He's a vacuum over there. I played first before and I'm really appreciative what he does on the defensive side.'

CINCINNATI (AP) — Christian Yelich had two homers among his four hits and drove in five runs as the Milwaukee Brewers overcame a seven-run deficit to beat the Cincinnati Reds 10-8 Friday night for their club record-tying 13th straight victory. The Reds chased Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski — making his first start since July 28 — with a seven-run seventh inning to take an 8-1 lead. Yelich homered leading off the second against Nick Martinez for Milwaukee's first run. He had an RBI double in the third before Andrew Vaughn hit his 14th homer — a three-run shot — and Brice Turang's RBI double to cut it to 8-6. Yelich had a two-run single in the fourth to tie it at 8-all and then hit his 26th homer — a one-out, solo shot off Scott Barlow (6-1) in the sixth to give the Brewers the lead. Brandon Lockridge went 3 for 5 and doubled off Sam Moll with two outs in the seventh before scoring on a wild pitch for an insurance run. Misiorowski loaded the bases with one out in the second on a hit batter and two walks and left after walking Spencer Steer to force in a run. Elly De La Cruz had the first hit in the inning — a two-run double off DL Hall for a 4-1 lead. Four straight singles increased the lead to 8-1. PIRATES 3, CUBS 2 CHICAGO (AP) — Jack Suwinski hit a tiebreaking solo homer in the ninth inning to give Pittsburgh a win over struggling Chicago. Suwinski, a Chicago native, hit Daniel Palencia's (1-3) 1-1 fastball the opposite way, into the left-field bleachers for his third homer. The Pirates ended a five-game losing steak and sent the Cubs to their fourth loss in five games. Pete Crow-Armstrong broke out of a 3-for-41 slump by going 3 for 3 with his first RBI since July 30. Crow-Armstrong also was hit by a pitch and scored a run. The Cubs All-Star was thrown out twice on the bases; trying to stretch a single to double in the fourth and was caught stealing in the ninth after leading off with a single. Andrew McCutchen and Isaiah Kiner-Falefa each had an RBI double. The Cubs entered eight games behind surging NL Central-leading Milwaukee. Matt Shaw added a sac fly. He helped the Mariners rally from a 6-5 deficit in the seventh with his first double since June 27 and then doubled again in the eighth. The comeback helped Seattle overcome two homers by Francisco Lindor. Lindor hit a leadoff homer and then a two-run shot in the fourth for a 5-4 lead. Juan Soto also homered and Francisco Alvarez hit a three-run shot in the eighth but the Mets lost for the 14th time in 16 games. Rookie Jacob Misiorowski struggles in his return as Brewers rallied for 13th straight win
CINCINNATI (AP) — Rookie pitcher Jacob Misiorowski lasted only 1 1/3 innings Friday night in the All-Star 's return to the Milwaukee Brewers after a stint on the injured list. Misiorowski started for the NL Central-leading Brewers in their series opener at Cincinnati after missing about 2 1/2 weeks with a left tibia contusion. The Brewers rallied to win their 13th straight game 10-8, matching the longest winning streak in franchise history. The Brewers won their first 13 games in 1987.

Ex-Wisconsin players say in lawsuit that former coach Marisa Moseley psychologically abused them
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Five former Wisconsin women's basketball players have filed a lawsuit saying they received psychological abuse from ex-Badgers coach Marisa Moseley and that the university responded with 'a policy of laissez-faire inaction.' The lawsuit filed Friday in federal court lists the Wisconsin Board of Regents, Moseley and former Wisconsin associate athletic director for external communications Justin Doherty as defendants. The plaintiffs are Lexi Duckett, Krystyna Ellew, Mary Ferrito, Tara Stauffacher and Tessa Towers.
