Brookville man once again giving away dozens of bikes

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A local man is once again gearing up for a big giveaway for his community.
Brookville resident Dave Nugent, better known as 'The Bicycle Man,' gives away hundreds of bikes throughout the year. Nugent repairs bikes of all sizes to give away, completely free to local children.
Nugent is once again hosting a giveaway this month starting at 1 p.m. on June 15.
Those interested can visit 142 June Place to pick up a bike. The giveaway will run until all bikes are given away.
Nugent asks that people only take one bike per person.

Nugent says he enjoys repairing the bikes and giving them to those who will enjoy them. He expects nothing in return.

Sampson County roads to close for maintenance

SAMPSON COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) — A couple of Sampson County roads are scheduled to close while crews conduct maintenance June 16-19. According to a press release, a portion of Panhandle Road Near McCullen Road will close at 7 a.m. June 16 and plan to reopen it by 5 p.m. June 18, weather permitting. Motorists are advised to take North McCullen Road and Keener Road alternatively. Beginning at 8 p.m. June 17, a section of Huntley School Road will close near Tyndall Bridge Road. Weather permitting the road will reopen by 5:30 p.m. June 18. Maintenance staff will replace a pipe during the closure. Drivers are advised to take alternate roads such as Tyndall Bridge Road, Fann School Road, and Horse Pasture Road. NCDOT recommends to 'plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution in the work zone.' For real-time travel information, visit or follow NCDOT on social media. (Local traffic only and handicapped drop off for the event) 9th Street S., from S. Highland Street to S. Walter Reed Drive 9th Road S., from S. Garfield Street to S. Walter Reed Drive In putting out the road closures, Arlington County also said there would be an increased number of police in the area. It encouraged drivers to be aware of the closures and a higher volume of foot traffic. Arlington launches new 911 protocols for dispatchers to enhance response efficiency Street parking may be restricted, so anyone driving in the area should look for temporary 'No Parking' signs. The county said cars parked illegally may be ticketed or towed. If you do end up having a car towed, Arlington County has an online portal that allows you to check the status of your car and to find out where it is.
