Strong villages make a strong nation: Saini
Saini said that villages are the foundation of our culture, tradition, and a self-reliant India. A strong village leads to a strong nation. When panchayats are empowered, democracy thrives. Therefore, it is everyone's responsibility to ensure the development and self-reliance of our villages.
Saini inaugurated 923 development projects valued at ₹233 crore and laid the foundation stones for 413 additional projects, amounting to ₹135 crore. These projects aim to enhance infrastructure and improve the quality of life in rural areas across Haryana.
In a move to empower local governing bodies, Saini transferred ₹573 crore to 22 zila parishads, 142 panchayat samitis, and 5,388 gram panchayats. This allocation represents their share of stamp duty revenue, providing them with increased financial autonomy for local development initiatives.
The chief minister also approved ₹18.28 crore for the construction of mahila chaupals in 511 gram panchayats. Additionally, ₹1.45 crore was released for 411 zila parishad members and 3,081 panchayat samiti members, recognising their contributions to local governance.
During the event, Saini launched the Mukhyamantri Jagrit Gram Puraskar Yojana, a scheme that will award panchayats demonstrating outstanding performance across various socio-economic indicators. The scheme will provide substantial financial incentives to winning panchayats, with first-position gram panchayats receiving ₹51 lakh, second position ₹31 lakh, and third position ₹21 lakh, to be used for local development.
To further empower elected representatives, Saini initiated the distribution of training kits under the National Gram Swaraj Abhiyan. This campaign will provide refresher training to all 71,000 elected representatives in the state along with training kits.
Saini also released two books: 'Mera Gaon–Meri Dharohar,' a collection of stories highlighting the spiritual heritage of Haryana's villages, and a book detailing the Mukhyamantri Jagrit Gram Puraskar Yojana.
The chief minister disbursed social security pension benefits to 41,591 new beneficiaries across the state, with ₹12.59 crore directly transferred to their bank accounts.
The event was attended by Haryana Assembly speaker Harvinder Kalyan, Development and Panchayats minister Krishan Lal Panwar, and other key state government officials.
Earlier, the chief minister and others present observed a two-minute silence and paid tribute to the people who lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
During the event, the address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Madhubani, Bihar was broadcast live for the representatives of panchayati raj institutions who were present.
Saini appealed to panchayat representatives to pledge for a drug-free village. He urged that every representative should take a vow to eliminate drug use from their respective villages. He said that if anyone is found consuming drugs or involved in drug trafficking, the information should be reported to the government via the MANAS portal. The identity of the informant will be kept confidential.
Development and Panchayat minister Krishan Lal Panwar said that training programmes have been organised for panchayats, as a result of which the working of the panchayats in the state have become swifter and village development is continuously being strengthened. He emphasised that panchayat representatives must work honestly and advance their villages on the path of development.

Zero tolerance for law and order violations, miscreants to face stern action: Haryana CM Saini
In a strong message to criminals, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday reiterated his government's zero tolerance towards any lapse of law and order. Interacting with reporters in Chandigarh, Saini underscored that 'ensuring a safe and secure environment for the people is government's top priority. I would like to make it clear that any individual attempting to disrupt peace or create disorder will face stern action, regardless of their influence or position'. To curb drug-trafficking in Haryana, Saini said, the government will be taking strict measures against offenders. He urged residents to file a complaint on the government portal if they get any information on drugs being sold in their village, locality, or city ward. The identity of the informers will be concealed, he added. CM Saini asserted his government's commitment to the health and well-being of the people of the state. 'State-of-the-art infrastructure is being ensured in government hospitals so that people do not rely on private hospitals. Soon, 10 new district hospitals will be inaugurated,' he said. Regarding the Opposition Congress' allegations of vote theft, Saini said, 'All such accusations are baseless. The Congress is unnecessarily making it an issue, but such falsehoods will no longer work. The Congress party has tried to weaken Dr B R Ambedkar's Constitution and promoted corruption. Congress disrupted the proceedings of Parliament, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi has closed all doors to corruption; due to this, the frustrated Congress is making baseless allegations'. He said PM Modi has worked to empower the poor and make them economically strong and has launched schemes for the progress of every section of society. 'Today, the poor are moving forward with confidence and playing an active role in the nation's development,' he added. The CM also paid rich tributes to the former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, on his death anniversary, recalling him as 'a statesman who redefined the spirit of Indian politics'. Taking a jibe at the Opposition parties, Saini said, 'it is unfortunate that today's Opposition lacked the grace and sense of responsibility that Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee embodied. Congress leaders should draw inspiration from Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji's life. They must study and understand how Vajpayee ji became the true voice of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, representing issues with dignity and substance'. Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday digitally disbursed financial assistance of Rs 76 crore for 2,020 families under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Antyodaya Parivar Suraksha Yojana (DAYALU). The relief amount was directly credited into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. 'A sensitive government must act as the head of the family, offering support in times of adversity. While life itself can not be restored, families can be given the strength to endure their loss through financial security,' he said. Launched on April 1, 2023, the Dayalu scheme provides financial security to families with an annual income of up to Rs 1.80 lakh. It extends coverage to individuals aged between six and 60 years, ensuring up to Rs 5 lakh in assistance in the case of an untimely death or permanent disability of a family member. 'Since its inception, the scheme has become a crucial safety net for the state's poorest households. As of today, 36,651 families have collectively received assistance worth Rs 1,380 crore,' Saini said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate two major highway projects that will accelerate connectivity for Sonipat and Bahadurgarh on Sunday. 'In all, six road projects worth Rs 11,000 crore shall be inaugurated by the Prime Minister. Two of these, costing about Rs. 2,000 crore, are connected to Haryana. These are part of the Urban Extension Road-2 initiative and shall free the NCR from traffic jams and connectivity challenges,' Saini said. Giving details about the two projects, Saini added, 'These two projects will serve as vital four-lane link roads connecting the Delhi–NCR region with Haryana's industrial clusters. A 29.6-km road built at a cost of Rs 1,490 crore will provide direct connectivity to Sonipat and relieve the heavy congestion on NH-44. This road will also connect the Bawana Industrial Area directly with NH-352A (Jind–Gohana Road), giving a new push to trade and industry. A 7.3-km stretch costing Rs 487 crore will link Dichaon Kalan in Delhi directly to Bahadurgarh and the KMP Expressway, ensuring easy access to both'.
