ICC chairman Jay Shah met UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin in Munich to discuss cricket's global outreach before the PSG vs Inter Milan Champions League final.
ICC chairman and former BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Friday met UEFA president Aleksander Čeferin in Munich, two days ahead of the Champions League final between Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, which will be played at the Allianz Arena on Sunday, June 1.
Shah mentioned that the meeting with Čeferin ahead of the big final was to ensure that cricket's global outreach continued.
While cricket boasts a vast fan base, with millions following games, tournaments and careers of their favourite players, several parts of Europe still haven't immersed themselves in the sport.
'Honoured to represent cricket in Munich ahead of the @championsleague
Final and have discussions with UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin," Shah tweeted on Saturday morning.

ICC has several global outreach initiatives which it uses to promote cricket. Its flagship community outreach program, named 'Cricket for Good', aims to use the sport's power to impact children and families worldwide, addressing problems like nutrition deficiency, education and child protection.
The final will be a special occasion for Achraf Hakimi, Paris Saint-Germain's Moroccan right-back, who won the Serie A title with Inter four years back.
Hakimi is the best full-back in the world when it comes to attacking and he has scored or set up 22 goals this season.
Federico Dimarco has a key role to play in Inter's 3-5-2 formation, in which his attacking contribution is crucial. However, he had a torrid time against Lamine Yamal in the semi-finals.
Denzel Dumfries does the same job on the right as Dimarco on the left for Inter, with the Dutchman a marauding wing-back who offers so much to his team going forward, he has scored 11 goals this season.

Germany squad update: Bisseck to miss Nations League semifinal vs Portugal after UCL final injury

Inter Milan defender Yann Aurel Bisseck will miss Germany's upcoming Nations League games after getting injured in the team's Champions League final loss to Paris Saint-Germain. Bisseck only made a short appearance in Saturday's final, going on as a substitute in the 54th minute, then off again in the 62nd with an apparent right leg injury. The German football federation (DFB) said Sunday that Bisseck had muscular problems at the back of his right thigh, ruling him out of the Nations League semifinal against Portugal in Munich on Wednesday, as well as the final or third-place playoff against Spain or France four days later. ALSO READ: Injured Buongiorno to miss Italy's opening World Cup qualifiers Germany coach Julian Nagelsmann called up Monaco defender Thilo Kehrer in Bisseck's place. Kehrer was to join the rest of the squad Monday at its training base in Herzogenaurach. The 28-year-old Kehrer has made 27 appearances for Germany, though none since June 2023. Mainz midfielder Nadiem Amiri left the camp Saturday and will miss the games with what the DFB said were 'adductor problems.' Nagelsmann had previously called up Mainz forward Jonathan Burkardt to replace the injured Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller. Stiller wasn't fully fit but was involved in three of Stuttgart's four goals as it defeated Arminia Bielefeld 4-2 in the German Cup final.

'PSG Deserved To Win This': Inzaghi Dismayed By Inter's Performance In UCL Final

As a result of their 5-0 collpase in the UCL final against PSG, Simone Inzaghi's Inter have now ended their season without trophies. Inter Milan manager Simone Inzaghi expressed his dismay after his team suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to Paris St Germain in the Champions League final on Saturday. This loss marked PSG's first Champions League title, achieved with the largest winning margin in the competition's history. Inter, three-time European champions, ended a challenging season without any trophies, having been unsuccessful in three major competitions. 'It absolutely didn't feel like my Inter out there – and the players are the first to know it," said Inzaghi. His team had previously reached the final with an exciting 7-6 aggregate victory over Barcelona. The defeat was particularly hard for Inzaghi, as it came two years after Inter's narrow loss to Manchester City in the 2023 final in Istanbul. 'I think PSG deserved to win," Inzaghi said in a brief press conference. Inter's last European title was under Jose Mourinho in 2010. 'There is great disappointment and bitterness because the boys had a great run this season, and it's hard to end with no titles. As a coach, I'm still proud. We're not satisfied with tonight's game. We approached it badly… We didn't play the final in the best way, but I thanked the boys." advetisement PSG dominated the match, with teenager Desire Doue delivering an outstanding performance, scoring twice and setting up Achraf Hakimi's opener. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and substitute Senny Mayulu also scored. Inzaghi admitted that Inter struggled to match PSG's intensity. 'We were more tired than PSG, who clinched the French title several weeks ago while we were fighting for the Serie A until the final weekend," Inzaghi said. 'We didn't play well technically, they got there first… We knew they were stronger than us, we knew we had to be better, but we fully deserved the defeat." Inter now needs to regroup for the Club World Cup in the United States in June. However, Inzaghi acknowledged that the pain of losing the Champions League final would linger, and he did not comment on whether he would still be with the club for the tournament. 'Heavy defeats and finals leave their mark. We must all start again together," he said. 'I won't answer that question (about the Club World Cup). I came out of politeness and respect for you, this defeat hurts too much. You come out stronger from defeats, we've been through this before and the following year we lost the Scudetto. I spoke to the lads and we need to hold our heads high, knowing that we came up against a stronger team who deserved to win."
