2025 Open Championship picks, odds: Three prop bets for Royal Portrush
The Open Championship is one of the great betting events on the sporting calendar.
Played on a picturesque course in challenging conditions, the British Open is always full of surprises.
The unique setup of the Open makes it a bettor's delight, especially for value-hunters who like to play plus-money props.
There's a full menu of them to choose from, but we've whittled that list down to our three favorites, all of which are sitting at 8/1 or longer.
2025 Open Championship prop bets
Marco Penge top-10 finish (+800, bet365)
Penge is going to be a popular pick in betting markets, pools and DFS, but his form is pretty tough to ignore.
The Englishman won the Hainan Classic at the end of April, and he's kept that form of late with a T11 at the BMW International Open two weeks ago and then a T2 at the Scottish Open last weekend.
This seems like a savvy way to get in on Penge.

Taylor Pendrith top debutant (+900, bet365)
There's a deep group of players making their debuts at the Open Championship, but Pendrith stands out after his T13 at the Scottish Open.
Pendrith's toughest competition in this market will be Chris Gotterup, Harry Hall and JJ Spaun, but he's being offered at better prices than those four, and his form makes him a worthy play.
The Canadian has finished 15th or better in three of his last six outings.

Miss-the-cut parlay: Rory McIlroy/Bryson DeChambeau/Jordan Spieth/Sepp Straka (164/1)
The Open Championship will always humble plenty of players, so it's a good tournament for a big-ticket miss-the-cut parlay.
This one comes out to 164/1 with the prices at bet365.
McIlroy has been money for most of 2025 and has a serious claim to be the best golfer in the world this season, but he's had some swings and misses at the Open in recent years.
The Northern Irishman missed the cut at Royal Portrush in 2019, finished T46 in 2021, third in 2022, T6 in 2023 and then missed the weekend again in 2024.
That's two MCs in his last five starts in this event, not bad for the 5/1 price on him to make it 3-in-6.
As for DeChambeau, his biggest weapon gets muted in these conditions, and Spieth is such a volatile player at this point that the +162 price on this prop is worth the risk.
Straka has been ascendant over the past few years and is now the No. 8 golfer in the world per OWGR, but he's missed the cut in all three majors this season.

Overabundance of wings As currently constructed, the five biggest earners on the team are either shooting guards or small forwards. Both positions often fall under the term wing, meaning that wings make up for over $134.8 million in salary, which is just under $20 million short of what the salary cap is ($154.6 million). Those five players (Devin Booker, Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, Grayson Allen, and Royce O'Neale) are all 6'6 and under, meaning the Suns - again - will be short, and enormously reliant on perimeter production to win games. (It's also worth noting the above grouping is just of the most expensive players. The organization has even more wings further down on the roster.) Green, who was acquired in the Kevin Durant trade, has projected as a wonky fit next to Booker since the day the trade went down. Rumors persisted for weeks that Phoenix would flip the 23-year-old for something else, but nothing materialized. That doesn't mean the Suns are necessarily committed to Green for the long haul. Green, who signed a three-year extension with Houston, negotiated a player option for the third season, meaning Phoenix might not have oodles of time to figure out that situation. Green seems like he could be solid trade deadline fodder, especially if he plays well enough to justify the price tag of his $33.5 million salary this season. If a team out there is in need of offense, particularly from the off-guard spot, and find Green interesting due to his youth, and explosive scoring (20.1 points for his career), then Phoenix should certainly be listening. Odd roster balance Due to the aforementioned overabundance of wings, it goes without saying that the rest of the roster is off-balanced. The team doesn't have a high-quality point guard at their disposal, or at least anyone who's significantly tested, which makes for an odd fit given that the Suns seemingly are still trying to compete. They do carry three centers, Khaman Maluach, Nick Richards, and Mark Williams, all of whom are actually quite decent. At this stage, it appears as if the Suns are putting a substantial portion of their eggs in that basket of the three of them controlling the defense this season. It should be noted that the Suns have two wildcards - Ryan Dunn and Oso Ighodaro - who were rookies last year. Dunn, another wing, could potentially outplay some of the team's more expensive options, especially if his three-point shot has taken another step up. As for Ighodaro, who is a 4/5 hybrid, he too could cement a place for himself in the rotation, thus offering the Suns quality at a lowered price point. The 23-year-old is highly intelligent out on the floor, moves the ball well, defends, and can incorporate himself into basically every rotation. Of course, relying on second-year players to break out isn't exactly a plan. It'd be a positive surprise more than anything, meaning the Suns can't bank on that. All-in-all, this roster seem primed for an in-season trade. Perhaps several. Because whatever this iteration of Suns basketball is, it doesn't really make a ton of sense. One American, 16-year-old Canadian among AIG Women's Open qualifiers
AIG Women's Open final qualifying began Monday morning with 107 players vying for berths into the year's final major, which starts Thursday at Royal Porthcawl. It ended with 17 players qualifying. Canada's Anna Huang led the way as medalist in the 18-hole qualifier at Pyle and Kenfig Golf Club, a Harry Colt design that is located about a mile from this week's Open site in Wales. Huang, who is just 16 years old and the youngest member of the Ladies European Tour, shot 4-under 67. This will be her second major of the year, following the U.S. Women's Open, where she missed the cut. 'I'm delighted with my score,' Huang said. 'On the front nine, I just stayed really patient, I didn't miss any fairways and the putts were dropping. I don't play links golf, so it took a couple of practice rounds to get used to it, but I think I handled it pretty well. I played in the U.S. Open this year so this will be my second major championship. I learned a lot from that week and bringing more patience into this week will be really helpful.' Ireland's Anna Foster, who played college golf at Auburn, and Thailand's Arpichaya Yubol tied for second at 3 under. Florida State alum Morgane Metraux was among four players to tie for fourth at 2 under, and her twin sister, Kim, was first reserve at even par. Brianna Do was the lone American to qualify. The 35-year-old former U.S. Women's Public Links champion has made the cut in two majors already this year, the KPMG Women's PGA and Evian Championship. She had missed 11 of 12 career major cuts prior to this year. Do's 1-under 70 included a 45-foot eagle make on her ninth hole. 'It was nice to get an early tee time, so the wind was calm for a lot of my round,' Do said. Five other Americans did not qualify, including 2017 Women's PGA champion Danielle Kang, who shot 73, and Louisville product Lauren Hartlage, a final qualifier last year who carded 71 but missed out reserve status in a playoff. Also qualifying at 1 under was a group that included Stanford alum Aline Krauter, who qualified for and tied for 28th at this year's U.S. Women's Open despite being penalized for slow play in her qualifier, and current Cardinal standout Meja Ortengren, an amateur from Sweden. Another Swede, former Arizona State player Linnea Strom, birdied her final hole to shoot 70 and move the cut line, ensuring no playoff for the 17 qualifying spots.
