NSW Police charge two men after bullets were fired into a home and car in broad daylight in Auburn, Sydney's west
Just after 3pm on Wednesday October 23, 2024, police were called to Chisholm Street, Auburn, following reports that shots had been fired at a house while three people were standing near a parked car.
Officers from Auburn Police Area Command believe it's a targeted attack and confirmed the bullets had struck both the vehicle and the residence.
No injuries were reported.
After 20 minutes since the incident, emergency services were called to Haughton Street in Carramar, where a car was found ablaze.
Fire and Rescue NSW extinguished the fire and police seized the burnt-out vehicle, along with a second car, for forensic examination.
Detectives linked the shooting and the car fire, launching an investigation under Strike Force Martorell.
On Friday 1 August 2025, following extensive inquiries, police executed three search warrants at homes in Guildford and Lidcombe.
During the operation, a car was seized for forensic testing and two men, a 20-year-old from Guildford and a 30-year-old from Lidcombe were arrested.
The men were taken to Bankstown Police Station and charged with several serious offences, including shooting with intent to murder, destroying property by fire in company, firing a gun at a building or inclosed land, and participating in a criminal group.
The younger man also faces an additional charge for failing to comply with an order to provide access to digital evidence.
Police allege the two men were involved in firing shots at three people standing near the parked car in Auburn, and later setting fire to the vehicle in Carramar in an attempt to destroy evidence.
Both men were refused bail and are due to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Saturday August 2, 2025.
Investigations under Strike Force Martorell are continuing.

'Officers attached to Orana Western Police District report that the child was taken to Dubbo Police Station around 11pm today (Wednesday).' Dubbo, located 115km north of Molong, became the unexpected final stop in the frantic effort to find the young girl. Police had earlier described a man they believed was travelling with the child as being in his 60s, of Caucasian appearance, approximately 175cm tall, with a medium build, short grey hair and brown eyes. The woman was said to be in her 30s, also Caucasian, about 170cm tall, thin build, with black hair and brown eyes. Despite Hariet being found unharmed, police have not yet ruled out criminal involvement. Authorities have not confirmed whether the two adults were located alongside her at the time she was taken to Dubbo Police Station. 'Inquiries surrounding the incident are ongoing,' police said. The circumstances of how Kamlade came to be taken from Molong remains under investigation, with detectives expected to question individuals known to the family. NSW Police have asked anyone with further information about the incident to come forward as the investigation continues.

Three men including teen arrested, loaded revolver seized over alleged planned public place shooting in Sydney's west
Three men have been arrested and a loaded revolver seized after a police operation uncovered an alleged plot for a public place shooting to be carried out in Sydney's west. NSW Police said the men including a teenager have been arrested in relation to the alleged organisation of vehicles to be used in the shooting. The chaotic scenes unfolded overnight when police conducted a high-risk vehicle stop of a black Kia Serato at the intersection of the M4 and Prospect Highway in Blacktown at about 12.05am on Wednesday. During the intercept police reportedly fired bean bag rounds into the vehicle to bring it to a halt. Then, a 22-year-old driver and the 17-year-old passenger – both males – were arrested. The 22-year-old was allegedly bitten by a police dog and treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance before being taken to Blacktown Hospital for treatment. There, he remains under police guard. The teenager was also taken to Blacktown Police Station where inquiries are continuing. Around the same time of the first arrest, police stopped a VW T-cross travelling along Carlton Street, Granville. The driver and sole occupant of the vehcile, a 36-year-old man, was arrested without incident. He was taken to Granville Police Station where inquiries are also continuing. A search warrant was later executed at a home on Roebuck Avenue, Willmont, where police allegedly seized a loaded Smith & Wesson .357 Magnum revolver. Investigations are continuing.

Aussie man arrested after morning of chaos on Bali streets from alleged carjacking, crashing into two people and lighting vehicle on fire
An Australian national in Bali has been arrested after a trail of allegedly terrorising locals. The man, who was born in Hobart and is being referred to by the initial RWJ, allegedly stole a vehicle and crashed into two people at high speed, before setting the car alight. According to police, the carjacking victim, a Balinese man, was parking outside the villa Eden Residence At The Sea in Seminyak about 12.30am on Sunday when the man began pounding on the window. The Australian then allegedly forced the driver out of his vehicle, before stealing it and crashing into two people. The extent of the injuries is not yet known. The victim then called a security guard and attempted to chase the vehicle, but was quickly forced to halt the pursuit due to the dangerous speed of the man. Police say the man then tried to locate the vehicle using a phone tracking app. His phone which was still in the car, pinged at a location about 7km away on Buana Raya Street. However, when a search proved unsuccessful, he reported the incident to police. Shortly after, Denpasar Fire Brigade received a report of a car fire in the same area, completely engulfed in flames. Two fire crews worked to bring the flames under control at about 5.30am. No one was hurt in the fire, but, the vehicle – a Toyota Avanza SUV – was completely destroyed with a loss estimated at $A14,200. A nearby home also sustained minor damage from the blaze. The suspect was arrested and taken to North Kuta Police Station. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
