OPEN// FM calls for rapid Gaza reconstruction while preserving Palestinian rights
CAIRO, Feb 13 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty stressed the urgency of starting Gaza's recovery and reconstruction while ensuring that the Palestinians remain on their land with full international support.
During a meeting in Paris with Hisashi Matsumoto, Japan's Deputy Foreign Minister, Abdelatty praised Japan's role in regional and global affairs, noting the strong alignment between Egypt and Japan on key international principles.
He emphasized the importance of the Egyptian-Japanese strategic partnership, established in 2023, and Egypt's commitment to participating in the TICAD 9 summit in Yokohama. He also praised Japan's contributions to Africa's peace and development efforts.
On Gaza, Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's role in implementing the ceasefire agreement, ensuring humanitarian aid delivery, and pushing for a long-term political solution.
He reaffirmed Egypt's stance on a two-state solution based on the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as Palestine's capital.

Egypt sets rules for foreign delegations visiting Gaza border
Egypt has announced regulatory controls for foreign delegations wishing to visit the border area with the Gaza Strip, stating that prior approval must be obtained through official channels. In a Wednesday statement, the government said the only way it would consider such requests is through a formal application to an Egyptian embassy abroad, or via requests submitted by foreign embassies in Cairo or representatives of organisations to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It said that no requests or invitations received outside this specified framework would be considered. The statement emphasised the importance of adhering to these regulations to ensure the security of visiting delegations, citing the delicate security situation in the border region since the beginning of the crisis in Gaza. It noted that many visits for foreign government and non-governmental delegations had been arranged previously under this process. The government also stressed the importance for citizens of all countries to adhere to the laws and regulations governing entry into Egyptian territory, including obtaining the necessary visas or permits. In the statement, Egypt said it welcomes international and regional positions that support Palestinian rights and reject what it described as the 'siege, starvation, and flagrant and systematic Israeli violations' against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip. It affirmed that Egypt continues to work at all levels to end the war on the Strip and the humanitarian disaster affecting more than two million Palestinians. The statement reaffirmed Egypt's steadfast position in support of the Palestinian people on their land and its rejection of Israeli violations of international law and international humanitarian law. It also stressed the importance of pressuring Israel to end the siege on the Strip and allow humanitarian access through all land crossings from Israel.

123 Palestinians killed in 24hrs as UN experts accuse Israel of genocide in Gaza
At least 123 Palestinians were killed in the past 24 hours as Israeli military operations continued across the Gaza Strip, amid mounting international accusations that Israel is committing crimes against humanity. In a report released on Tuesday, United Nations experts accused Israel of conducting 'a systematic campaign to erase Palestinian life,' citing the targeting of civilians sheltering in schools and places of worship. According to Gaza's Civil Defense, 31 people were killed on Wednesday morning by Israeli fire while attempting to reach a food distribution centre. Similar incidents have claimed dozens of lives near aid points run by the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation since late May, according to the Red Cross and local emergency services. Gaza's Government Media Office accused Israel of deliberately fostering chaos through starvation and of 'directly targeting starving civilians using drones, helicopters, and tanks.'
