US President Trump accepts PM Modi's invite to next QUAD Meeting, leaders discuss Israel-Iran conflict
New Delhi [India], June 18 (ANI): US President Donald Trump has accepted India's invitation to attend the QUAD Summit, which will take place in New Delhi later this year, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Wednesday. The telephonic conversation with US President Donald Trump took place on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Canada.
'For the next meeting of Quad, PM Modi invited President Trump to India. While accepting the invitation, President Trump said that he is excited to come to India', Misri said in a video message.
The Quad is a diplomatic partnership between Australia, India, Japan, and the United States committed to supporting an open, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific that is inclusive and resilient. The Quad's origins date back to our collaboration in response to the December 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.
The Foreign Secretary also noted that the two leaders discussed the ongoing global developments.
'President Trump and PM Modi also discussed the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. On the Russia-Ukraine conflict, both agreed that direct dialogue between the two sides is essential for an early peace, and efforts should continue. The two leaders shared their perspectives on the Indo-Pacific region and expressed support for the important role of QUAD in the region.'
The call follows after Israel and Iran are trading strikes for a sixth day, with civilians in flashpoint areas facing waves of attacks.
During the call, PM Modi briefed the US President on Operation Sindoor and firmly conveyed the message that India has and will not accept any mediation when it comes to issues with Pakistan.
Vikram Misri also said, ' On the night of May 9, Vice President Vance called Prime Minister Modi. Vice President Vance had said that Pakistan could launch a major attack on India. Prime Minister Modi had told him in clear words that if this happens, India will give an even bigger response to Pakistan. India gave a very strong response to Pakistan's attack on the night of 9-10 May and caused a lot of damage to Pakistan's army. Its military airbases were made inoperable. India's strong response forced Pakistan to urge India to halt military action.'
Misri, in his remarks, had also highlighted that PM Modi made it clear to President Trump that during this entire episode, at no time, at any level, were issues such as the India-US trade deal or mediation by the US between India and Pakistan discussed. The halt to military action was discussed directly between India and Pakistan, through existing channels of the two armies, and was at the request of Pakistan.
Misri informed that US President Trump understood the points made in detail by the Prime Minister and expressed support for India's fight against terrorism. (ANI)

Contribute now New Delhi: Reliance 4IR Realty Development, a unit of a company controlled by multibillionaire Mukesh Ambani has paid a $10 million 'development fee' to the Trump Organisation, the real-estate firm owned by US President Donald Trump, for licensing the Trump name in Mumbai. With the payment, Ambani, India's richest man has joined the ranks of foreign developers pouring money into Trump's real-estate firm, reported The Wall Street Journal. According to the president's annual financial disclosure report, investors planning Trump-branded projects in Vietnam, Dubai and Saudi Arabia and elsewhere paid the Trump Organisation $44.6 million in foreign licensing and development fees in 2024. The amount received from the investors is more than the $8.2 million received in 2023 and $9.4 million received in 2022 by the Trump Organisation. At the moment it's not yet clear that Reliance paid the development fee to the Trump Organization for which specific project in Mumbai, said the WSJ report. In January this year, Ambani had attended Trump's inauguration in the US and was also a guest in the state dinner held last month in Doha, that was hosted by the Qatar Emir for the US President. While previous administrations sought to keep the presidency separate from potential conflicts of interest, the Trump Organisation has seen an increase of such foreign deals, which reflects the Trump family's strategy of going ahead with expansion plans, while Trump is in office as the incumbent US President. In the first term, the Trump Organisation had pledged a halt to foreign dealmaking while Trump was in office, a move that put a stop to any new real-estate projects from the company. Donald Trump Jr, a company executive who oversees the president's assets with his brother, Eric Trump, said at a Qatar-based conference in May that recusal from deals didn't stop criticism, so this time the family has lowered the self-imposed guardrails – vowing only to avoid direct deals with foreign governments. 'We said we're going to play by the rules, but we're not going to go so far as to stymie our business forever,' Donald Trump Jr. said, reported WSJ. Representatives of Reliance didn't respond to requests for comment, the WSJ report noted. The Wire is now on WhatsApp. Follow our channel for sharp analysis and opinions on the latest developments. A slice of crisis: Is pizza the Pentagon's secret political barometer?
Imagine a world where global crises aren't just brewing in diplomatic cables or hushed war rooms but subtly telegraphed by an unexpected surge in pizza sales. It sounds like something out of a spy novel, yet this fascinating concept, popularly known as the Pentagon Pizza Index , is once again sparking conversation. From its shadowy Cold War origins to recent viral moments on social media, this quirky, unofficial theory suggests that a sudden rush of pizza — or any takeout food —to the US defense and intelligence hubs could be the first delicious hint of an impending major geopolitical event. What is the Pentagon Pizza Index? The Pentagon Pizza Index is a quirky, unofficial theory that suggests a surge in pizza (or other takeout food) orders to the Pentagon and other US Defense or intelligence buildings can indicate an impending major geopolitical event. On June 14, two Domino's locations near the Pentagon registered abnormally high amounts of traffic for a Friday (throughout the day and evening), hinting at the onset of the Iran-Isarel conflict. The logic It is believed that when government officials and staff are working late into the night on urgent, high stakes matters (like military operations, international conflicts, or significant policy decisions), they can't leave their posts for food. Therefore, they rely heavily on quick, shareable, convenient and calorie-rich food like pizza to keep them going. A dramatic increase in pizza orders signals heightened activity and a potential crisis brewing. When pepperoni predicted peril This intriguing theory known as 'Pizza Intelligence,' or 'Pizzint,' goes back to the Cold War. At that time, Soviet analysts reportedly kept a close eye on pizza deliveries to US government buildings. Sudden surges in food orders to the CIA & Pentagon, were considered informal indicators of the looming crisis. In 1990 Frank Meeks, a Washington DC Domino's franchise owner, observed a spike in orders to CIA buildings. The next day, Iraq invaded Kuwait, confirming his 'Pizzint' suspicions. Unusual? Surely One of the most notable recent instances of the Pentagon Pizza Index in action occurred on April 13, 2024. That night, as Iran unleashed a massive drone and missile strike against Israel, screenshots from various food delivery platforms showed pizzerias surrounding the Pentagon, White House, and Department of Defence tagged with the telling status of 'busier than usual.' (Source: Economic Times) Pentagon to the Pizza Index: 'We got sushi too' A Pentagon spokesperson reacted to the Pizza delivery index of June 13 and clarified they do not need to order pizza as there are many pizza options inside Pentagon and also, they have sushi, sandwiches, donuts, etc. According to a report published by Tasting Tables, March 27, 2025, the Pentagon, has cafes for quick coffee runs to full meals. Here's a sampler: McDonald's Dunkin Donuts Baskin-Robbins Taco Bell Panda Express Jamba Juice Potbelly Sandwich Works Tropical Smoothie Café Panera Bread Subway Popeyes Starbucks Moe's Southwest Grill
